THis thread is getting out of hand with insulting. I am simply saying as a normal guy in a suburb and who works in the city during the day I feel no need to carry a weapon. I live in an apartment with my buddy as a roomate. When I get a home I will have a gun. When my kids get older, I don't know if I will keep it or not. I feel no need for a weapon on my person during the day and that is my stance on that.

NO that is not what you said.

Well it must suck going through your life being so scared that you have to carry a weapon everyday to feel safe.

I gave you a reason why someone would carry a weapon EVERY day. Now you are saying something else. wich is why you getting mocked, insulted etc.
Oh, the poor baby can't let the topic drop? Grow the F!!! up you pain in the ass. Obviously your wife is scared of dark parking lots and that is why she carries protection. How can you deny that MAYBE IF I TYPE IN CAPS LIKE THIS YOU WILL GET THAT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULL

You know you've lost when you're attacking someone for not dropping the topic, when it's clear that they've beaten you senseless. Sounds like you need to carry protection, to keep from getting pwned by waggy.

I imagine you should start carrying some sort of weapon as well. Obviously your wits aren't going to help you out of more than a cardboard box.

Whereas your wits will cause you to yell at an armed assailant,
"Oh, the poor baby is gonna rob me? Grow the F!! up you pain in the ass. Obviously your pituitary gland is overdeveloped and that's why you act out aggressively. How can you deny that MAYBE IF I YELL AT YOU LIKE THIS YOU WILL GET THAT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULL."

Yup, wits should pull you through that one, genius.

Just because I am new and he is a vet doesn't mean you have to be partial to his cause. I would like you to point out where I have gotten "beat senseless" because I am simply not seeing it.

If you would have read my posts I described areas that I would feel the need of protection other than my wits and my fists. I said I work in the city during the day, live in suburbia all other times and find no need to carry any weapons around with me.

Depends on where I am, .357 if at home, my knife, or katana if I go a short distance. If I travel a good distance, nothing few things are less suspicious than a roll of quarters placed in your hand(which substitutes brass knuckles, and need no permit), or a wallet with a chain on it(use wisely

That dead guy, that could be you. That rape could be your wife. That robbery could be your son. That assault could be your daughter. Suburbs have crime too.

This suburb happens to have a pretty ghetto huge apartment plaza and I imagine that is where most of the violent crime happened. Anyway, I feel no need to carry a weapon on me. I truly am not worried at all about being assaulted or my gf getting raped. Hell, I bet most of those reported rapes happened at some drunken party anyway.

This time I am serious, I am not posting in my thread. I feel safe in my life and the situations I put myself in. Some people may live in more dangerous areas or may simply be more scared/timid on a day to day basis and thats fine with me. I simply feel no need to carry a weapon of any kind and prefer not to be around people who carry guns if I can avoid it. I have been mugged once and got my doc martens stolen but that was 3 am and i was drunk walking across a bridge in minneapolis. I gave up the shoes gladly and I went on my way. A gun or knife just would have gotten me killed or him killed or both of us killed, who knows. IMO carrying weapons in "safe" areas is just asking for trouble.

I like this forum but this off topic forum is just like any other off topic forum. Too much personal attacks and insults instead of cold hard facts and good debate, later.

Using a paintball gun in a serious situation will get you killed. Someone would be in their rights to shoot you with a real gun if you shot them with a paintball gun.

its not because I'm a "vet" here and you are a noob. Its because you say one thing then another. Then you lash out when that has been pointed out.

pitty. you started off as a good poster then you resort to personal attacks. i was hoping for another mature person on the board.

Last thing, I never insulted your wife and I said I supported her carrying protection since she would be walking through a dark parking lot. I feel all women should have some sort of protection on them in case of a sexual assault. Thats the end of it, later.

MlHuxley, you certainly have the right to your opinion, the thing is though, that states that have passed CCW permits are not showing CCW holders having their guns taken away by bad guys & they have a pretty extensive class to try to teach you how to pick & choose the appropriate time to draw you weapon.

I don't see any stories about how Joe-Bob (CCW holder) had his gun taken away & was injured/killed with it. If you have any links to this actually happening, I'd be interested in reading about it.

I don't carry a gun out of fear, as a relatively large male I have never had any trouble.

Why then, you might ask, would I go out of my way to spend the time and money to obtain a CHL?

I refuse to allow myself to be terrorized by a criminal minority. We outnumber them 100 to 1, yet our women walk the streets at night in fear. That's BS, & I refuse to play that game.

The way I see it if anything ever happens that could have turned out better had I been carrying & I WASN'T carrying, I'm partly responsible for the outcome. Not to blame, but partly responsible.

As a law abiding citizen over the age of 21, I have the right to carry a concealed handgun. Exercising that right puts us at an advantage vs the criminal population - Not only do we outnumber you, but we're also better trained & better armed. You would be ill advised to fvck with us.

lMlHuxley

...and prefer not to be around people who carry guns if I can avoid it.

That's why you'll never know we have them until you're glad we do.

I usually carry an UN-concealed weapon, somewhat for protection but also as an animal control issue. Of course, if push came to shove I would have no problems turning it on someone intending me harm, and I doubt I'd miss. A family less than a mile from where I grew up was broken into, which is sorta uncommon in the middle of nowhere. The father held the mexican robber at gunpoint until the police arrived. (he happened to be Mexican, couldn't speak english but understood what a gun was"no racial issue") He was lucky, if he had chose my place my father had good aim and a protective attitude toward his children.

When I moved to college I relied on my size and mind to get/keep me out of trouble, but still felt vulnerable. I know I don't see the gun violence that may affect many of you, but in my family firearms were shown and operated by us at an early age. If I had a concealed permit I'd carry a weapon most places, except the obvious areas.(banks, courts, government buildings, ...)
