Your piece of iron doesn't have any long lasting value!

You're beyond rational dialog.

This is completely pathetic.

Rogo

Finally you see how pathetic it is to have this conversation since you know nothing about the topic.

For the last time its mine darn it :p. Its not be traded, sold, given away, or whatever value you're trying to give the darn thing. The only value it has is the value it has to me and my family.

Also its proven that steel is stronger than plastic. I know what happens to the accord when something hits it, it crumples. Like a squashed spider.

The Bronco has lasted 13 years, and has yet to see a shop for anything except a broken cruise control button. Our uncle's 25 mpg Sophia. Dead..gone...died after 3.5 years. Couldn't handle the mileage. First engine, then tranny, then the struts needed replaced, then they said the entire tranny needed replaced. He may have saved gas, but the car cost him 14 grand new. After 3.5 years he had to buy another vehicle, that one cost 18 grand. A Sedonna. After 3 years, it to is beginning to show signs of issue, such as an uneven idle, and late shifting.

Rogo probably means that you'll have to sell it because you won't be able to afford gas at $9/gallon.
But then again he didn't read the part where you said you can afford fuel. I assume you'll afford it even if it goes to $9/gallon, so enjoy the new ride.

Just remember to be kind to cyclists, more and more people ditch even econoboxes and live car-free using bicycles for everything, from commuting to touring, renting or borrowing a car for occasional need (haul carpet from store).
/ bikeforums.net /

The gas I'm putting in this Expedition so far is coming out to require only 1.2mpg more than my Uncle's Sedonna.

I've always argued that an SUV is unecessary.

I grew up on an commerical farm, I know the alure of a 200000 gallon gas tank and my empty F350's gastank.

To chose such an automobile is just idotic regardless of wether you can afford it.

The money you spend on gas for such an automobile can be invested in mortage payments, children's college savings, 401k dreps or whatever else could benefit your family.

Your carbon footprint affects every american.

I've no respect for you.

Since when paying mortgage is an investment?

Prior the burst of this housing bubble it was an investment in a few places.

My property is golden so I'm not worried about a super low mortage.

Oh yeah big american cars... so comfortable and wonderful. I got to drive a 2007 Suburban with all the special options, absolutely amazing car to drive, I loved every second of it, till I looked at the mpg. Something cool about feeling able to crush Honda Civics at a whim.

Nor I for you you UN rear kissing blowhard :). Your the one falling for communistic BS, not me.

Tell me what vehicle other than an SUV can take multiple people, take cargo, and tow at the same time. And don't say minivan because I haven't seen one that can safely tow anything over 1500lbs. You could say a regular van like the Econoline or the Sprinter, but their gas mileage is as bad if not worse then a SUV's.

To the corolla comment, he has a family of 6. Corolla isn't large enough.

At least you are not that small woman driving huge ass Escalade to work with nothing but a 120lb person and a small briefcase inside!

You've just posited your invalid claim.

I know you don't take multiple people, carry cargo, and pull a boat more than 6 times per year.

You can't argue that an SUV is necessary, you can make idiotic statments until your fingers are numb, but you've not posted a primary source supporting your claim.

Driving people 300 miles to drive around in your powerboat doesn't make your flacid proposition any more structural.

Why would you try to argue somthing that your own population doesn't believe is sustainable?

Lol now that is rediculous. But we needed the flexibility and the safety of the SUV. Btw, this morning it hit 19mpg running 62 on the highway.

One thing, your not my population city slicker. Don't speak for my population.

Two, 3 people daily is the norm, today it held 6.

Three, try towing about every 6 days, not six times a year. Again you're blind to previous posts. Can't get past the UN's full moon in your face.

Four, I don't carry people 300 miles, I could only dream of having that much spare time

Make decent remarks next time Rogo. You apparently know nothing about the uses of an automobile.

You don't care about gas milage, so why post such a thing?

Were you pulling a boat, hauling timber, and ferrying your children to school as you drove this morning, or was it yourself and you girlfriend alone in your SUV?

Just saying the SUV isn't as bad as you want it to be. They've made good strides since the day of your archaic motors.

6 people, fishing equipment on the way in, 3 people and 400$ worth of groceries on the way out.

SUV bashers here are just like radical religious people, trying to pressure their beliefs on others.

Sweet ride OP.

Thx, it drives nice and gets things done.

Oh and if anyone wonders why we had fishing equipment on the way to college, we dropped some kids off at a fishing contest thingy in town (about 2 miles from out college in a fish pond). They had a ride back, but no one to take them in. So we did that.

God Damn dude just STFU. You are free to drive a Prius if you like to save yourself money and put into your 401K if you want.

However, you don't control his pocketbook and you seem to feel you do.

If he keeps it for 13 years like he has stated then he will have paid roughly 1700 dollars/year to own the car which a much better investment than many people all around us make on leased vehicles.

He has already shown you how much he hauls people and other things and you have the audacity to tell him that he only hauls things 6 times/year. WTF!? Are you now his stalker or are you just pulling numbers out of your ass? I haven't even started on the SMUG storms you will likely cause in the future :D

His government will legislate his stupid brain in the near future. The oil baron bush adminstration is negotiating a 'global warming bill' as we write.

To believe that a SUV will have some kind of intrinsic value, in the future, is naive at best and idiotic at the last tenable solution.

I'll pay you $12 a week to haul my topsoil lad.

What's your problem Purpy?

Purpy?

And for that matter...hardly any cars will have value 13 years from now...the time the OP plans to finally drop his expedition.

You should head over to P&N to talk with the rest of your kind.
