So there's a 2004 Expedition sitting in my driveway

Sounds awesome.

My ideal truck is a Chevy HD diesel with the allison tranny. But the King Ranch Editions of Fords are awesome (like the EB ed. you are looking at.)

Really? My ideal truck is a Ford King Ranch with a Cummins quad turbocharged diesel and a Allison trans with a Dana 80 rear, Dana 70 front. 2 12,000 lb winches front and rear, onboard air and 4000 watt converter.

Actually that's mine too, but I have to change my pants everytime I mention it. *runs off to closet*

No need to check your sarcasm meter, it's fine. OrooOroo is just trolling.

OP, buy the Expedition if you like it. Let the hypocrites in this thread preach it to the choir.

Just did ^_^ I'll be picking it up Tuesday.. I miss it already 😛 But hey, they're gonna fill up the tank and get it detailed again, I suppose I can wait out the Memorial Day weekend 😛

LOL yup that's what keeps gas prices up. FFS are people really that stupid in this world? Hell and I thought people on ATOT had above average intelligence.

I thought so too but it didn't take long to see that simply wasn't the case here 🙁

(60 miles/day) / (17 miles/gallon) = 3.53 Gallons a day * $3.50 a gallon = $12.36 just to go to work everyday. :Q

YIKES! I hope you have a good job.

whats the other big ford SUV? theres explorer, expedition and excursion right?

we rented the biggest one , excursion i think, im from the UK so that was THE biggest car i had ever seen lol. it could seat like 8-9 people at take all their luggage...it was insane. not very comfortable tho.

Well if it's really what you wanted then good for you. I'm sure you've done all the calculations as far as
cost of ownership goes so you know you can afford it. Whatever one's opinion of large gas hungry vehicles
are, the fact is their re-sale value plummets quickly as gas gets higher. Hopefully the OP plans to drive it for
awhile so it wont matter...

Yup...you will enjoy that vehicle. Maybe not the gas mileage but the luxury.

I have an older model Explorer Limited with leather, premium sound system, dual air and I love it. I am a big guy and it suits me just right 🙂

Luxury? Just because it's a big arse tank with a few options don't try to believe that this thing is in any way a luxury vehicle.

Just my opinion but don't buy this POS, just get a smaller car thats safer for you and the people you may hit with this thing. if you want a boat just buy one as the insurance is cheaper.

Only for a while 🙂

What a stupid choice as a commuter.

You personally are the reason why I want gas prices to reach $9.00 pg, and your loaf of bread at your safeway to be $12.00.

Rogo

so the OP is the sole reason you want prices raised up?

Hey OP, don't you feel honored that this guy/gal cares so much about what you drive?

Truly honored ^_^ Seriously, no one has ever given a crap about what I did besides my parents 😛

Money spent on fuel- I can handle it
Isurance- $50 less than the 2007 Ford Five Hundred I was going to get
Initial cost- will be less than the Five Hundred and I'm focusing on completing my own college run right now. I have 6 years to go through.
Environmental costs- I am not arrogant to believe someone as small as us makes any difference when a normal volcano emits millions of tons of CO2 every time one goes off.

As for the bread, it doesn't matter 😛 I make my own ^_^

So find a cheaper used Ford 500 then, spending 22k on a vehicle is just plain stupid unless you are rolling. Find a good car for daily use.

I bought a boat so I bought a used toyota pick up for $2500 and use that for pulling crap, etc.

This is what is wrong with our american people, spend, spend, spend money they don't have.

thecoolnessrune, how about not feeding the self righteous trolls in this thread? 😉

My wife and I are both tall, and most other cars with a moonroof don't work. We drive what we do because we are comfortable in it. 🙂

Indeed.. The fuel efficiency is absolutely lousy! 😱

But I'll be able to afford it.. I got 60 miles to commute everyday. Even with the lousy fuel efficiency its a darn nice vehicle ^_^

60 miles and you want a 12mpg land barge?

I don't see the appeal of those vehicles-- I eat the fuel cost of a Grand Cherokee that gets 17mpg combined, because it's a capable off road vehicle. How do you justify the gas for what is essentially a 12mpg enormous car?

I drive a 1999 Expedition XLT. It has the 5.4L motor, and gets about 16-17mpg.

Oh, and my Expedition is more capable off-rod than a Grand Cherokee (higher ground clearance), and yes, I do take it off road.

EDIT: I'm also 6'6. There are very few small cars and SUVs that I can drive comfortably. Therefore I will probably always drive a car this size, or larger.

Boomer

I know you don't try very hard to curtail your carbon output, and I'm not going to rattle horns with you 😉

I'm not a robe wearing energy monk, at least not until I move out to the new property! 🙂

I live close to resort community on the Columbia River (crescent bar) and all I've seen for the past 3 days are HUGE SUVS pulling mobius, malibus, and mastercrafts down and up the 3 mile drive to the river, it's non-stop and there are only two people per rig.

It's so conspicuous that you can't miss the spectacle.

Every one of these is in the high margin of cap income. When petrol is $9.00 pg they will be able to pay for everything they need, but they'll stop driving 300 miles to float their boat on the Columbia.

I'm sure lots of SUV haters will curse you over even considering it, but, it's YOUR money, and YOU have to pay for the gas, so screw them...let them drive their econoboxes if they so choose...buy what YOU want.

Amen to that. Besides, name one econobox that will tow a soaking wet 18ft. bass rig and trailer up a 45 degree incline. Those people here who know a lot about fishing know what I'm talking about. This will be the replacement bass tower when we decide to retire our 95 Bronco. That 5.8L 4x4 still can't be beat.. Not even by the Expedition..

EDIT: And about the wheels... I don't do anything like that.. The 17s that come with it are good enough for me.. Remember that this is a guy who is used to little 15" wheels on the Bronco 😉

yeah, if you like fishing 😉

I'm a fisherman. I use a float tube and sitontop kayak. I did own a 17 foot skeeter, but it was a waste of money-and I'd rather use my kayak than blast around a lake on a speedboat 🙂

I only need a Saab and a roofrack 🙂

I do understand the need to pull such a boat, but the boat isn't mandatory.

Oh, but you are wrong again.

1. There is a difference between a kayak and a bass rig. Two very different purposes.

2. My grandfather (whom several of you know that I live with my grandparents) has been a guide on our lake for the past 30 something years. This boat is his livelihood, it very much is mandatory. Additionally, you don't bring a kayak out here on a windy day.. That's insanity 😵
