Explain to your mom what you'd like to eat. When she makes something that doesn't go well with your plan, buy food or make it yourself. Eventually, she may give in.

So speak up for yourself and eat what you should be, not what your mommy makes for you

Pathetic.

Get a second opinion for sure.

But if I recall, my doctor told me that high triglycerides are related to a high carb intake and that could be the reason he wants you to do Atkins. Don't know? Again, talk to more doctors. Thanks.

Go back to India?

Actually that will make me lose weight really fast!

Cooking my own food.. sure.. but she usually says i make a mess of her kitchen.. so that wont work. And the reason i cant move out besides not able to afford it, is that they were planning to go to india in october for a year, now thats been pushed to next spring.

ugh!

Then why don't you grow up and clean up after yourself. That kind of discipline will be needed to get healthier as well.

Cook your own food, get some exercise, drink a lot of water and green tea.

I am not much better. My Tris are in the lower 200s and my cholesterol is about 70-80 points lower than yours. I weigh around 165 lbs. My Dr. told me to lose 10 lbs. I am 27.

I joined a gym yesterday.

(My dad's father died of heart disease at 89.)

Diabeties runs in the family, so i have been keeping that in mind and i dont eat sugar, but i guess eating carbs = sugar can cause me diabeties.

Your doctor actually told you to go on Atkins? Wouldn't that be counter productive for lowering your cholesterol?

I know, but he claims it will bring down my weight, and fix the blood related problems.
Mom doesnt believe in atkins. She sabotaged my dietecians menu when i moved back home in feb.

I'd fire my doctor.

You need low fat foods, high fiber, exercise, and maybe even some cholesterol lowering drugs perscribed.

No kidding!

Atkins may help some people to lose weight, but it won't help lower your cholesterol & may in fact cause it to go up.

They took blood from me about 10 days ago and gave me a MRI yesterday.

No results yet.

Fingers crossed.

Guys stop jumping on us Asians so quickly because we're 28 and we live at home. I know a few people who do that and it's not because they can't make it out there on their own. Their parents don't mind a lot of times and would like for them to stay at home. The way I look at it we save up and then one day we move out with plenty of money to put down a down payment. I have plenty of friends in the Silicon Valley who have just moved back home after graduating. Even though they are engineers and rake in $70k incomes, it's still a lot smarter economically to live at home for a few years.

Furthermore, I get fat as hell when I move home for the summer. I cook on my own at school or I eat out and still I'm not really overweight. When I exercise and work out I get even skinnier and more fit. I admit that Asian parents stuff their kids full of food everytime we come back home.....

So what do you do when you want to take a girl back after a night on the town, but your parents are at home asleep?

I'm not talking about him living at home. I'm talking about him not taking control of his diet just because his mom thinks she knows more than a doctor (believe me, my mom tries to pull that stuff too).
