 WOW! I wish I could be there just for a second to feel it. What do you have to wear when you go outside evn for a second? Also what is freezing fog like, does it stay in the air or does it fall, I guess it would be like a snow misting? How does weather like this effect your car? Wouldn't the plates in your battery crack?

Sorry for all the questions but really cold weather has always interested me.

EDIT: BTW I would go hang your pc case out your car window powered off a generator and drive around at 40mph and OC it to hell. Take pics :p

Oh and take more pics of outside please! I am dying to see more! I would appreciate it very much. :)

If you hawk a lugie (or is it hock a loogie? I never remember) will it freeze before it hits the ground?

Coldest I've seen is -20 F (windchill hit -60 F I think) in Ohio in the mid 80s... was neat as an impressionable Boy Scout to watch the Park Rangers thawing a propane tank over an open fire ;)

From our web site... All of those shots are my projects from when I ran custom in our Anchorage store. A very small sample. We've done much cooler stuff since we put up the website. They need to update it.

Gas doesn't gel until about -70. Anti-freeze is good to about -100. Motor oil turns into caramel about -40 though. :Q

Are block heaters standard equipment there? :p

how do wild animals survive in that? wow.

does it hurt your eye balls to walk outside and be in that for a long time? do you have to blink more often to keep your eyes from freezing?

1) go outside and throw a bucket of water
2) video tape
3) ...
4) blink so your eyes dont freeze
5) profit

You can run outside for a bit with nothing on. You have about 5 minutes before things start freezing on you.

The fog is just that... fog. Nothing special about it except all the moisture in the air is frozen.

Cars don't like this weather. I'm not turning mine off today. When it's on everything stays warm. When it's off you plug them in. We have heater plates attached to our oil pans and batteries as well as engine block heaters to keep things loose.

Do women exist in Alaska? If they do, are they hot?

Do you use oil or natural gas to heat your home? How do you prevent water pipes from freezing and bursting?

Is it possible to have the entire computer outside the house and just run lines to it for your monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers? Will electronics work when frozen? I would assume you would have to prevent condensation...

My dad did part of his Army tour of duty at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks (during the Korean War). Apparently, one has to be careful just breathing the air at that temperature as it can frostbite your lungs. Screw that is all I have to say.

I don't understand why anyone would choose to live there. But then, many people dont' understand why I like Phoenix summers. :)

120 is still 120, I don't care how "dry" it is.

I experienced this last summer..got stories from all the old guys at my internship about one day when it was 125F, and they had to shut down the airport because the gas chart only went to 120F..

Its a balmy 70F here, Texas FTW!!
