It's finally warmed up here in Anchorage. For the first time in like two weeks, it's above zero. Wonder how whoozyerdaddy's doing up in Squarebanks?

-25. But clear and sunny! Should be above zero by Superbowl though. More and more... Day by day I find myself surfing over to here. It's been four months since my last trip. I'm due.

You jerk! It's freakin snowy/overcast here. I'd rather have -25 and clear than +5 and crappy.

So what do you actually do that keeps you in Alaska. What is your job, in Fairbanks.

I think Whoozyerdaddy is involved with home theatre, and I am involved in aviation. For me, I live here because I can't imagine living anywhere else. Unlike most, I thoroughly enjoy cold weather.

I don't DO anything that KEEPS me in Alaska. I'm actually here of my own free will.

My job is somewhere in this thread. (With link!)

California is the center of the universe to you so why should I even bother to answer when all you're going to do is question why I don't live in CA?

*The condescension is strong in this one*

could you send about 20-25 degrees of that cold air to Ohio? We're having this weird warm weather. Drop us to a steady 15-20 and that would bring you up to around -25 :)

We had a stretch of weather like that last winter ... didn't get above -40C for 8 days  Both my vehicles froze solid. The dog wouldn't drink because he didn't want to go outside :)

Edit: We get a lot of ice fog here too ... crystallized pollution :( I live in a pretty deep valley, and we get a lot of northerlies blowing down from the Northwest Territories that come straight down the river. There have been a few mornings when it has taken me nearly an hour to get to work 25 miles away. Sucks not to be able to see 10 feet past your headlights.

You guys need to get an NFL team up there, that'd be the true frozen tundra.

They'd probably win every game with that kind of weather.
An NHL franchise would rock! Right now we're ECHL but we can dream. :D

why not? it doesnt make sense to question that. at -25 the ice is very thick.

That sounds awesome. The coldest i have been out an about is -25 pre windchill at the bottom of a ski mountain. Since i was totally wrapped it it really wasnt a problem plus the mountain was totally empty. I wish the northeast had a real winter. Right now its a miserable 43 degrees :( and overcast
