I need to ask you an honest question. Did you really consider the 1st game that tactical? I mean the combat was slower, but my mages would pretty much woop butt in every encounter, my tank would taunt, and my rogues would stab. Other than that I agree with a lot of what you are saying. I am still enjoying the game so far, but it's no DAO.
One another note. Is it me or does my mage only throw out spells when he decides too. For instance I press the button for the Frost spell(not cone of cold), but my mage decides to finish his laser staff dance for a few more seconds before launching the spell. Realistic? Probably. Annoying? Oh yeah.
DA:O was totally tactical... it's not as if every single encounter broke down into crushing prison x 3, wait, repeat.
I did enjoy DA:O a lot more than NWN though personally...DA2 is on-par to me in 'fun factor' but I would give the nod to NWN as a superior platform,
NWN2 Mask of the Betrayer is so much better than DA2 though. Are you just referring to the first NWN? MOTB was such a good game.
was there a fourth mage? I remember using the main character (mage), Morrigan, the old chick from the mage tower, and Alistar throughout the game.
NWN 1 was one of the best games I have ever played period. It was all about the toolset, which was the original focus of the game, they just threw a campaign together at the last minute just for the sake of having one (I don't even remember the plot to it). But with the toolset you literally had thousands of different campaigns to play, and there were many, many good ones to pick and play. Then there's the whole persistent world aspect that I personally never got into myself but heard many good things about. Man that game was amazing.
Now I'm oh so tempted to reinstall everything and go browsing through nwvault's hall of fame modules...
I assume when people say they didn't like NWN1, they are referring to the OC. Other than the OC, the only issue I had that was really prevalent no matter what you were playing is that NWN had a pretty ugly 3D engine. It was a rough transition from 2D to 3D, the NWN2 engine was a lot better at displaying content.

Anders + Fenris is very serious![]()
The graphics were definitely a bit off, but the game play more than made up for it.
How was the mod scene with NWN 2? Were there a bunch of (good) custom campaigns to pick and choose from?
it's all "whaa, slavery sucks, I hate mages" "omfg, dude you know I'm standing right here, right?"really??? lol..
i intend to use fenris on the third run.
Other than the main mods, I haven't played any custom ones. I feel kind of bad about that. For what it's worth, I spent a lot more time tooling around in multiplayer on NWN1. NWN2 I just chugged through all the SP content and then moved on.
I have been playing DA2 Signature version at a slow pace ie not rushing through anything, done about 17 hours so far and just about ready to go to Deep Roads.
So far its really nothing like DAO,storyline is so far non-existent,having shop vendors is not much fun being you can really only buy belts and rings/amulets unless you want to keep changing your main characters armour,I miss the good old camp fire and going to their houses for chats is annoying.
Difficulty level is a lot easier then DAO,normal is way too easy, copy and paste of so many similar areas is not something I expected from Bioware.
So far I feel like an errand boy lol...anyway hoping it will get better, positives are hmmm very stable (no crashes) and smooth FPS on my humble 4870 card, graphics are ok however nothing special.
I can't believe PC Gamer had "THE CHEEK" to give this such an high rating,so far its 7/10 at the very best IMHO,below Bioware standards for sure.
Are they even worth picking? Is it me or are picking locks always hard to do? In ACt 2 many locks need 30 cunning even right at the start. My rogues generally only have cunning in the early to mid 20's at this stage. Perhaps I'm not investing enough points into it. But if I miss Dex then I lose some crit hit bonuses.
Are they even worth picking?
In DA:O I did a play through with a rouge who could pick every lock, and it was mostly junk - hardly worth the investment.
on the flip side, it sucks to either always have to take a rogue in your party is miss out on that Sword of +++Awesomeness because you can't pick the lock on a cardboard box. It's just extra money. It's really sad to see the traditional rogue has all but gone extinct in modern RPGs.
