Were rogue's fun to play in the original DA:O? I started as a rogue but it looked like it was going to suck so I rerolled to a mage and loved (and never even kept any rogue's in my party). Now playing DA 2 ever since picking up the pirate girl I realize she is really fun to play and I want to go back to DA:O and play as a rogue if it's still fun

I always brought rogues online in DA:O because

1. They do the most DPS on single targets in my experience
2. lockpicking
3. traps

I'm using Sebastian as my rogue now. Archery is pretty useful and it keeps him out of the melee.

I think I may just go for three mages though. A tank (the guard woman) and three mages (two dps mages and one buff) could do some serious damage. Chests seem useless and I can never pick most of them anyway. Traps....meh.

What I want to know is why dungeons have so many chests. And why all these big chests just contain a broken spoon or a bent sword? Is there a chest imp? Who goes down to some ancient temple and places a chest with a single lockpick inside anyway??

I got the game for $20 because of an Amazon credit I had, but I feel like I wasted it. I was so wrong assuming it was safe to pre-order this game. I'd rate it 5.5/10 at best. Good enough to not quit playing it, but just so full of short comings.

5.5? Are you judging it as a standalone or against DAO?

I guess against what I remember of DA:O. It's been a long time since I've played it. I don't see why it matters.

FWIW I loved DA:O, ME1, and ME2. DA2 is just.. meh.

Honestly, while the game is 'fun', it just doesn't feel like they put a lot of work into it. The lack of unique gear, the repetitive areas, the lack of a compelling reason to even go on the quest all point to a rushed money grab to me.

This will be the first bioware game I only play once.

Same here. Rogues have been a blast to play in both DA:O and DA2. My rogue was awesome in the DA:O dwarven gladiator fights going invisible and backstabbing was classic. :)

Honestly speaking, if they're able to create something as great as DAO, they should be penalized for intentionally crippling the sequel. Plus, it's apparent that DA2 is a rush job, compared to the god knows how many years they took to make DAO.

I was on their forums they day they announced DA:O. Bioware had announced it way earlier then most devs would normally publicize a game because they wanted to reassure their PC fans that they hadn't forgotten them.

Fuckin' EA...

I haven't even played this game in a few days now that I think about it. Half finished. I'll get around to finishing it...but meh. Totally a by the numbers type of game.

Act 2...is Act 1. Exactly the same areas....yawn. The "Wounded Coast" consists of one linear path used over and over and over again.

The wounded coast was named to describe how you feel every time your forced to go there and play it.

Standalone, I'd give it the same rating. It doesn't bring anything good to the table, and is just passable in most regards.

I think that 5/10 is a good score for that description.

5/10 is to harsh. Play it and listen to the story. You will fill is worth at least 8/10

I still say 7/10 at best, storyline is not great and DA2 has a lot of faults.

I don't like how a lot of quests are hidden or hard to find, example being you got to talk to your companions in their house to get some new quests, also odd poster scattered about(easy to miss if you are not looking) plus your mining partner has quests too,how many of you did not bother to keep checking him for info?....

I can see how a lot of people would miss a lot of these quests and finish the game half done....
I have played about 32 hours now and still got a lot to do (I hope).

Hardly.

8/10 is overly generous. I've been playing it and there really is not much of a story.

I'm with Mem. 7/10 no doubt.

I would really like to see what games people are playing that give DA2 a 5-5.5, what other games do these people play? DA2 is not that bad, I have played MUCH MUCH worse.

I think it's more the expression of the whole "omg i cnt beleive bioware would do this 2 us tehy suck now" compounded with the inevitably long shadow cast by DAO and the rose colored glasses people have towards it. I mean I loved DAO and I think it was an amazing game, but I'm ok with DA2 just being enjoyable and not as good. One was bound to be better than the other :p

I think people also forget some of the flaws DAO had and are just focusing on those in DA2, making the contrast more stark; as well as ignoring some of the improvements DA2 has made, albeit most of them more minor than major.

DA2 is a 7/10 game. It's OK in it's own right, but a definite step-down from DA:O. DA:O was a 8.5 for me, very good. With some tweaks, DA2 could have been a 9.0. That is the biggest frustration and why many are saying it is a '5'.
