Wow talk about upside down, it looks like you import everything to make processors, TVs, etc and you're doing all that with a population of 19,000+.

I went the collect the trash route > process it and then turn it into processors, TVs, etc and I don't make as much as you :)

So since everyone is bombing with the Arcology, has anyone built anything else?

The solar great work looked nice, but I figured it doesn't take much land to build a few power plants for your city so I'm researching that space greatwork and going to try building that.

I recycle, but for some reason I can never reach all of the recyclables, so I import very small quantities of plastic and alloy.

I had 120K+, than I built the Arcology when I had everything running good. They moved but I was still making 4mil /month without them because I had taxes at 0% for residential before this, so the low population didn't effect my revenue.
When I had about 8mil, I started to create and max out processor factories, tv factories. You can't lose when you are making so much money so I can create and max out anything.

Watch your recycling trucks. They are more than likely all following each other around and around the same blocks

Don't worry all as they will add in subways that will fix most of traffic problems but it will cost $10-$15 if you want it. ;)

I think they improved traffic AI, as I saw very little traffic buildups last night. I don't use buses in my city, which help immensely with traffic - but even so, I saw no traffic jams for the few hours I played last night. My monthly income increased from 4mil to 5mil, just because I was able to move products faster. They also activated cheetah mode!

I have 4 processor factories and 4 electronics factories with 3 trade depots, all importing alloy/plastic/processors, make 5mil/month and lose 112k/hr. Population 100k, 0% taxes across the board. Having trouble keeping approval ratings above 90% because I haven't figured out how to de-germify my zones that I had previously zoned as industrial.

I built a solar farm, it generates 3,000mW for any connected region, but I find it to be overkill since I only use 400mW. Unfortunately there is no way to demolish a great works... :( I would rather have built an international airport or a space station.

I'm scared to look at my trucks. I saw school busses all stopped in one area, so I had to rebuild a school. Craziness

I had a major germ issue until most of my population moved to the Arcology. The Solar farm is better if everyone in your region work together..

demolish your schools and only leave your university up. school buses will arrive from other cities to pick up sims.

So I just need have a university to have enough "smarts" to run a Nuclear Plant to 3 reactors?

yes, just run one university and make it accessible via public transportation. as long as you aren't getting "classroom full" warnings, you're ok. i have a population of 100k and one university and have no problems keeping 8 high-tech factories up and running.

Alright, I'll try it. I have so much money I can build another city if it explodes.

Looks like there has been a new update (haven't played in a few days) which has brought some design changes. A more authentic "nighttime" appearance with building lighting changes. As well as working street lights!

Has anyone else had problems with their save games getting corrupted and getting rolled back to an earlier state?

It's so annoying... you spend 4 hours building a nice city with 80,000 people in it, only to have half of your improvements disappear the next time you load the game.

Yep, happens 25% of the time for me. I haven't actually played in a few days. I check for an update and if I see nothing I close it back out.

I wonder how they're keeping all the saves compatible with all the design changes? Let me know when they make the map sizes bigger and I might buy it.

Ugh I wish they would fix the garbage/recycling bugs already! The trucks keep following each other! My city is only collecting ~2.7k/9.7k trash cans and ~4.8k/13.8k recycling bins.

I have 3 police precincts and I catch no criminals. I have about 60 police cars driving in circles, with criminals right next to them and they drive around chasing nothing... Lol

I've watched my recycling collection trucks just drive around with .02 recyclables until their shift is over, than go back to the motor pool and go home.

The game is fun, until multiple bugs get in the way of running your city.
Features were disabled at launch, and are still being re-enabled.

I've stopped playing because the features promised at launch are nonfunctional and have yet to be fixed.

Does it get boring quickly due to the limited city size?

I'm waiting until I see a low price on it, but I am still considering picking it up at some point.

If it's a "play 10 hours then get bored and never play it again" type of game I'll pass though.

The game is truly fun. And eventually, it will be spectacular. I might consider waiting though. While I have had a lot of fun playing, it seems it will crash or traffic will gridlock and ill have to destroy it or start over. It's just bug ridden still. I think after it's finished, it will eat up hundreds of hours of time. The small map hasn't gotten in my way because the idea is to play as a region. Given, I refuse to let some unknown player ruin a region for me, but maybe eventually. Specialize each city and feed the other cities in you region. Just my thoughts.

it will be fun when:
1. they activate all the features it was suppose to ship with
2. make sure all the features work properly
3. fix all the game sync issues

the game was fun when i was trying to figure out how to max out my economy and maintain a decent sized city. now i have $350 million banked and i don't even need to look at my city unless it is to repair damage from disasters.

I wouldn't call it boring. You can see elements of a great game underneath all the bugs.

The problem is the bugs SEVERELY inhibit gameplay, no matter what the EA shills all over the net will lead you to believe.

I got so frustrated that I've stopped playing it. Constantly losing progress, can never "trust" your saves, and even if you are able to keep a city enough to grow in population you quickly hit the garbage/recycle/traffic bugs.

The whole beauty of the sim city games, to me, was getting 'attached' to your cities as they grow and develop. After "losing" at least 5 good cities I was playing the game with the expectation that something would get screwed up... Not fun.
