for those who still play - what goals do you have for your city(ies)? global trading is kind of broken right now, since you can export an infinite amount of electronics and make millions per month. i am trying to make a gambling oriented city, but am probably doing it completely wrong since i am bleeding hundreds of thousands per month (using $ from my electronics city as life support). my casinos and stadiums all make money, but not nearly enough to sustain my city.

Had no idea about the global trading issue...

But that's what I'm doing.

1 Trade port for TV's, Processors, alloy
3 Trade depots for Ore, Coal, plastic, alloy, metal

Education is pretty good, but I'm having issues getting them to recycle.

I was making about 1mil a month until I started building a Arcology, now I make 1/5th that.

Traffic problems? Your bottleneck is probably at the location where they enter your city. I did this funny thing (I think its a bug) where I connected to the highway outside of my city boundaries. It basically tripled my road capacity at the entry points. I haven't been able to duplicate the bug in any of my other cities, but I have instead made two 4-way intersections at any entry point in my cities and that seems to speed up traffic immensely.

My traffic problem is at the top right where they come in to my city as its where all the schools and residential areas located. Sucks because buses and vans get held up.

DO you use Streetcars? That's seemed to help for me

The arcology screws up everyones city because everyone drives from the arcology to the cities. They don't use buses or ferrys, it is horrible. People say don't put the intersection at the beginning of your city, that doesn't work unless you have one long winding road with no intersections.

If you put it in the beginning or the middle somewhere is going to cause a huge traffic jam. The facts are stuff is still severely broken and the game is not playable at this point.

I've already put so many resources into building my Arcology. Too far to go back, unless somehow I can cancel and get all the TV's I've shipped out.

Shouldn't park and rides help with the people commuting from the Arcology?

+1

It got so frustrating dealing with server issues, bizarre test changes, blatantly obvious traffic issues, etc etc that I just shelved the game.

I really do feel like EA flat out stole my money.

the traffic issues are what pains most people. it basically cripples your economy and causes massive problems with police, hospital, and specializations that require truck delivery.

I'm having a issue where I see metal being driven to my great works site, yet its stuck at 2,520/2,800? Some reason it just stopped

Nevermind, restarted SimCity and mysteriously my it was finished...

They should've just called it sim traffic.

This is what pisses me off more than anything about this game. The more I played and develop regions, the worse and worse cities did due to traffic. I stopped playing for this reason. I have no desire to watch queues of cars get stuck and destroy my infrastructure.

What a waste of money.

Heh with recycling + tvs\computers. This game is easy mode right now. Cities are making so much cash it isnt funny. Their budgets are broken but trading keeps them moving just fine. My main city has a budget that loses 15K\hour but walks away with probably a million\day. I use it to build new cities, rinse and repeat.

It's really good - the only thing which i don't like is the size of the cities - it should be a lot bigger!

heh you should check out my city. my budget is -$112k per hour and i still make 3 million/day. i suspect when they activate the global trading algorithm that my city will probably crash and burn.

Maybe it's a conspiracy by EA to get people to realize the importance of infrastructure spending. :whiste:

Big update today, wonder what they fixed. Traffic seems better but I could be imagining things.

Imagine what we could do for traffic if we had the ability to designate one way streets, have overpasses and roundabouts, and the like. I am desperately hoping they release a big version update that grants these abilities to go along with vastly bigger city plots and regions.
