Dude, there is plenty bad about Seattle. What you're seeing are people scoffing at the idea that something like this is new or unusual for the city, or that it involves actions as egregious to the rule of law as armed thugs in paramilitary cosplay threatening legislators if they don't get their way.
It is. I lived there for 30 years.

When did you leave and what part of the US do you like living in better.

I left in 2003 and currently live in Phoenix. Not sure why it matters.

I get what you guys are sating. I mean, statistic show St Lous has one the highest crime rates in the country, but I look at these picture and have decided its fake news.

Meanwhile over at you know..

They claimed the Democrats were running a child sex ring in the basement of a pizzeria and some idiot went over there with a rifle to "investigate".
I can only imagine the shitstorm they might cause in Seattle.

so, in no fucking surprise, AG Barr is lying to the citizens of the US, again, in a specific and unmistakable attempt to sow discord and scapegoat the clear wrong side of the political spectrum for the very real violence that has been occurring.

I'm not aware of other municipalities in the country linking arrests and/or violence to antifa. Regardless, it doesn't change the fact that the US AG is intentionally lying to the American people and scapegoating in hopes that it will perpetuate further violence, and some sort of political advantage for himself and his president. Fucking fascist horseshit right here.
So, he's doing exactly the job he was hired to do by our Liar-in-Chief. Yeah, it is sickening, isn't it?

If cops use excessive force, prosecute them. The answer to violence is not anarchy and more violence. Maybe we disagree on that.
No, I think we agree on that. The thing you seem to have missed is that the first sentence is not happening, that is a large part of what they are protesting about. The protests were largely peaceful and legal, with only a few exceptions done by a few, you might call them 'bad apples'. The response to those legal and peaceful protests was violence from the police. The result was just what you said, more violence in response. The police, of course, used that as an excuse to use even more violence, and the cycle continued. Anytime you get that cycle eventually it breaks down into anarchy. The police caused this. They kept escalating until it came to this.

should have said stroll through the streets in all areas. I am sure there are quite a bit of safe areas. Otherwise no one would be going in and lots more would be leaving.

That can be said of any city anywhere, and pretty much any time. Have you been to Burbon Street during Mardi Gras? It makes what is going on in CHAZ seem tame.

That is probably an incredibly apt description.

Edit: except with tent cities, because this is Seattle.
Tent cities are definitely a west coast thing. There was a sizable one on the biking and running trails adjacent to my SoCal apartment.

The cycle started with the bad apples. If every demographic in America took care of its own bad apples, instead of carrying water for them, we would be a better society. The problem is that the bad apples are sometimes useful and therefore tolerated.

I visit the Seattle area and Phoenix area frequently (well not the past few months) and i like Seattle much more. To each their own.

As for CHAZ, I get it, you are susceptible to being the victim of propaganda. There are clear cut cases we can link back to on these forums to prove that. Nothing to be ashamed over. Just try getting more facts in the future.

We all agree with you!
But I would throw out how do you prosecute the police when they are at times immune to prosecution?
Yet, somebody who is looting and throwing rock and trying to harm the cops get arrested and some have the book thrown at them....

There's more than free speech going on. They're breaking other laws. And lol at them saying it's a police free zone. Do you honestly think there's no laws being broken? Blocking city streets... Tagging everything... Vandalizing property... That's all good?

Plus, it looks terrible. Would you take your family there? Would you feel safe taking 7 year olds there? Your grandma?
Yes, I absolutely would.

Nah its all the smoke from the weed being smoked....
If it were just weed, it wouldn't be a problem, but those tent cities are often unsanitary, attract rodents, which bring with them the resurgence of medieval diseases, not to mention that cleanup crews have to wear hazmat suits due to all the drug needles, and unsurprisingly, whenever one of these tent cities get cleared out, the authorities tend to find a lot of stolen items, especially bicycles.

I love all the insinuations you're making in that post---"medieval diseases," "hazmat suits," "stolen items"---it's almost like you're trying to say it's pure anarchy there with absolutely no control whatsoever, just looting, burning, pillaging, and I'm assuming raping is also included in whatever screeds from which you get your "news."

Oddly, outside far-right web sites making those incendiary claims, the same picture isn't being painted by anyone else, anyone.

For instance, this was released by the mayor's office on Jun 16.....guess you'll just say it's "fake" and shit, but it's really called "reality":

Beginning last Tuesday (6/9/20), City officials have been on site on Capitol Hill to work meet community needs including hygiene, sanitation and safety. Utilities including Puget Sound Energy and SPU have been able to respond to the area for service. Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best has visited the site multiple times. Over the past week, conversations continued between City officials, organizers onsite for the CHOP, residents and businesses.

First, sounds like your fears of a medieval pandemic outbreak are sorta......hysterical, to say the least. Seems the city has it covered.

Every day, Seattle Fire Chief Harold Scoggins, Seattle Department of Transportation Director Sam Zimbabwe, and Seattle Public Utilities General Manager Mami Hara have been on site. On Sunday, they  held a meeting with onsite organizers, small businesses, and residents to discuss proposed changes to the protest zone. In coordination with protesters onsite, work began at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday to remove a tent barrier at 10th and Pine and replace it with a sturdier concrete barrier to improve public safety. The City has successfully worked with protesters onsite to reconfigure the CHOP to allow for public safety and better access for the local community. That has involved rerouting traffic, freeing up alley access, opened streets, and replacing makeshift barriers with heavy concrete barriers that can be painted.

Frankly, doesn't sound like utter lawlessness, or require people be garbed in hazmat suits to clean up, or damned near any of the hysteria you've alluded to.

And as for all those stolen bicycles.....yep, probably are a few here and there...but there are bad apples in any sort of larger group of people, be it a peaceful protest or a police force.

But, let me ask you.....were you this concerned for the sanitation of the wildlife refuge that the Bundy clan, et al, took over?

Follow the bouncing ball. I was referring to the tent cities in SoCal. Maybe knee jerk less and read more. As always I appreciate your concern.
