Seasonic M12 available now

Why would I want to buy an S12 500W for $140, when two Enhance ENP-5150GH units can be had for the same money?? 😉

Because it is modular! Because it is Seasonic! Because those two make it worth that much! 😉

Actually I'm with you on that one. Modular is nice but IMO only for those who aren't as good at wire management 😛

Agreed. Standard attached cables are fine as long as you know what your doing.

I think those 80 PLUS Silverstone power supplies are rebadged Enhance PSUs. If that's true then the Seasonic should be quieter than the Enhance.

Enhance builds most of Silverstone's PSUs.

Silverstone PSUs have sleeving Enhance lacks ATM.

Seasonic has much more sophisticated thermal fan control for quieter fan operation.

Seasonic uses high end, Nipponese capacitors for longer life at higher heat.

Enhance uses Teapo capacitors the same as the Win-Tact built PCP&C units.

For someone who is in the market for a quiet/reliable PSU are you recommending Seasonic or not? I thought your first post did not. But in this post, you only had good things to say about Seasonic. Is that not true?
So, I am confused. Or, did I miss sarcasm?

I already have an S12. But, I may some day get an M12 (what this thread is about). So, I like to know if there are any disadvantages.

Navid,
At the 500W level, for double the money, the Seasonic has quieter fan operation, sleeving, semi-modular and probably longer service life after 5 years of operation.

I tend to think that when tested side by side that both will have low ripple and very stable voltage as load is applied.

I really like Enhance because of the low price with high value. They build for ATMs, gaming/gambling casinos and those applications must stay running 😉

The Corsair 520/620 are built on the M12 platform but the 60mm fan was dropped and the current limiters tweaked. This distances Corsair from Seasonic for marketing reasons.

Operandi linked a pcp&c 750W review in the C&C forum. You might want to read that thread.

I do not know how it will play out in the future with SLI, Quad SLI, Dual Core or Quad Core but I do know that the highly efficient PSUs are better at keeping up with transient loads. I do hope I chose the right term.
Running at a higher frequency on the primary side offers better responce on the output side. It really is not by much but it may make a difference.

when did this turn into a discussion/advertisement about some enhance psu?

On topic: Would like to see SPCR put one of these new m12's up for review. They look very interesting.

PM the Mods and complain.

Navid, a respected, helpful, member of this forum asked me a question. I responded the best I could. I am NOT sorry it bothered you. Post more often and get along with your fellow members 😛

The fourth post in the topic, by you, and the first one advertising an enhance product. You instigated his question with this post i've quoted.

I don't consider you a fellow member, galvanized. I consider you a staunch advertiser for enhance. You can PM more about this, as I'm not going to clutter up this thread any more than it has been.

If you're not going to clutter up the thread with enhance stuff, then I'll do the pimping😉 Don't go hating on people for an honest suggestion, the stickied threads in the MoBo section are a great example. They're all made for a specific MoBo but people post alternatives all the time in it. Great way to compare. You obviously lack the intellect to sift through the immense 😕 amount of info GY gave you 😉 Anyway, the m12 and the corsiar hx520 and 620 units are very similar, save an 80mm front fan on the m12.
Also, to get 2 enhance 5150gh's into a case, you'd need a pretty big one😀 IMO (and that of many others) the enhance 5150gh and the enhance 5140gh are the best values on the market ATM. Find me a PSU of equal or greater quality for less cash and I will give you a smiley.

You have a bad attitude grasshopper 😛

Sorry, but it is too expensive. Rather get a regular Seasonic version, Fortron/Sparkle, Enermax Liberty or an Enhance 5150gh. This is approaching Power PC and Cooling territory.

but I do know that the highly efficient PSUs are better at keeping up with transient loads. I do hope I chose the right term.

more of the usual hot air....no basis for fact......
just becuase a PSU has a high ER means only one thing....
The one thing it means is--- it has a high ER...thats all...
Doesn`t mean its a high quality PSU....
Doesn`t mean the workmanshup is superior....
Doesn`t mean 6 months or a year from now it won`t go out on you.....

There are alot of myth`s associated with having an 80% efficient PSU that just cannot be assumed to be true.....

I will even go one further and say thats even true of my particluar brand of PSU.....
Yet some brands regardless of bring rebadged or not have track records that speak for themselves! 🙂

Are you drunk or off your medication again? 😛

If Enhance would simply start selling their PSU's at some reliable stores (Ewiz scares me), they would sell a hell of a lot more units.

I have shopped at eWiz before and they are very quick, efficient and deliver the product. I can recommend them based on my experience but others may say otherwise.

I and several others contacted the Egg, requesting that they stock Enhance *shruggs*
There is a form to fill out at Newegg's site for stocking requests.
