Why would I review an old S12? ;)

I have no plans to buy one, and Seasonic is only going to send me what's current/new because that's the product they want to sell.

But those aren't old ones...

I have a hard time believing that you wouldn't realize that this is what has happened with more then one person on these forums (Galvanized, Jonny, Howard, myself, etc).

of course you don`t have time....
its hard to use just words to prove somebody wrong.
use facts and links and pictures.

Its obvious that people besides jonny and Howard want there to be one opinion that fits all situations.

You say you have proved me wrong time after time.
yet you offer no proof other than your own words to substantiate your claims.

I have no problems with somebody proving me wrong but to voice and opinion that you claim to be factual? Well anybody can do that.
To voice an opinion along with screen shots and other things to back up supposed facts - now that makes for a very credible and hard to refute argument!

I was not the one who started this whole OEM quagmire along with the various opinions good or bad concrning PSU`s.

But I will be damned if you think by sheer force of numbers I am going to roll over and NOT express my opinion.

Then you have the audacity to call for a ban......based on nothing more than the fact you disagree with what I have to say???

Or based nothing more on the possible fact that one of your supposed hero`s on these foruns was caught red handed lying and fabricating untruths on these forums??

Whats very ironic is nobody can tell me didly how or why the PSU I choose to use is bad.....no logical arguments that hold water.

So I guess what this saying really does hold true--
As was stated in a different post-- some will say this is the way it is....while others will say prove it....

well truth betold even if we are right....we cannot prove you wrong.....so it goes...round and round....

By the way telos one of your Hero`s from these forums said something like that.
Since I don`t remember the exact quote-- I did not give credit just in case I might offend this person who I respect as much as I respect the GURU man!!

btw acegazda-- fixed!! :D
I just had my Airdale fixed!!

I have even went one further to say there are many good PSU`s on the market.....

Once again. Don't have time to prove your stupidity wrong time and time again. Your long ignorant posts bother many people, but I try to not let it bother me.

How long does it take to prove you wrong?

It's pretty standard for you to say something like "Antec SUX!!! FSP and PCP&C is all you can get thats good anymore!!!"

Takes me about half a sentence to prove that this is BS, but oh well.

STOP feeding the troll dBTelos. Once again you have bought into the game, a feeding game that only makes the monster stronger. :p

Oh... I saw S12 and thought "old."

Oh well... still.. I take what I can get. ;)

Update on M12: Efficiency typically 83%. No crossload issue. 60MM fan kicked in around 375W. Was noticeably loud at 540W.

Ahh, I can tell I'm home...

First thing I see when I return to the forums after 12 weeks is a psu flamespat.

Good to be back.

ok lets see...ask your mentor and cohort in all this what he thinks of the name Antec and get back to me....ok........

because we can go to other threads from the past to prove to you that he also thinks Antec suxors.......
Your really expecting alot out of GY to even say anything nice about Antec that is not condescending towareds them......

Thus dbtelos you have just threw your self proclaimed brightly shining opinion of yourself to the wind so to speak....

About the best we can say about Antec is that as a company they are trying to change things...thus we have a real honest goodness Antec service rep lurking about these forums.
:D

Also don`t feed the troll -- in this case the definition of a troll is anybody who would dare to voice an opinion contrary to your opinion!
Thus you would call somebody a troll because that is easier than disproving the trolls opinion!

How did I do??? heheee

Got the M12 installed - everything connected and happy. Powered up - no beeps - no smoke - everything normal. Main observed effect - it was quieter than the old Antec 430 it replaced. Ran Probe, and the voltages were rock steady. 11.84; 4.954; and 1.6 (vcore.)

Only had to use one adapter - the small power plug (FDD type) to the Radeon X1600.

Thanks for the review, JG. I was waiting to read it. Question. Do you take an actual decibal reading or do you go by ear? I'm assuming its by ear. Have you ever considered getting a decibel meter and posting your findings in your reviews or would that be impractible? I think it'd be a great idea to implement if its not too much trouble for you. As always a great review read.

Also, you reviewed the Tt ToughPower 750. Between it and the Seasonic M12 which did you find the most quiet under heavy load?

Btw, welcome back Ribbon13. :)

Yeah, if its not too much trouble for him to do. I know he gets alot of requests for this and that so maybe he can if its not a big burden. I know he does this all for free which I for one greatly appreciate. :)

For the one millionth time.... ;)

The load tester fans make far too much noise to measure PSU fan noise with any device available. I would have to have the tester in a different room. And if I did that, I wouldn't have accurate readings because the farther the load is from the end of the connector, the greater the resistance.

You put a 400W load on something, it's going to get hot. You can't passively cool something like that and expect it to work properly or, at the very least, last very long.

Water cooled load banks. ;)

I just got one installed on a loaded system. No problems. Very quiet even with the 6cm fan running. I haven't strobotach'd the fan however it does appear to be running slower than normal.

This looks like a decent supply. The connecting wires are a thinner gauge than the Liberty 620 that I have to compare it to however.

I would likely pay more for the custom made water blocks than the load tester cost. :D

I think you will find the AWG the same. It will be the wire's insulation that will be thinner.
kc8adu commented about insulation thickness over at badcaps.net but I fail to recall his insights.

Nope, it's thinner. I had to cut and solder to make up custom harnesses. :)

Most desktop PSUs will have 18AWG and the floppy connect will use 20AWG.
Several server PSUs use 16AWG. The superMicro and AbleCom units use 16AWG.

A detail but interesting to note.
