Just goes to prove how worthless this thread is. OP posts a quote but doesn't post the source because the title of the article blows away the OP's stance and apparently its also written by a hack.

Also, my reply was a direct quote from the OP. Which again shows how utterly worthless this thread is.

Those are Walker's direct words. You are making a bigger deal from what article they came from. I would have found them in another article, just not to have to go through this. But at the end of the day it doesn't matter where his quote came from. Those are his direct words.

"Both science and my faith dictate my belief that we are created by God" "I believe faith and science are compatible, and go hand in hand."
Scott Walker believes in science. Now that that's settled, what else can we do to demonize him?

Yes, his campaign, I meant office put out a statement cleaning up a rather ridiculous statement.

When someone shows you who they are, you should believe them. In this day and age, we should have an issue with any of out elected leaders who can't come out and say they believe in evolution. What are we talking about here?

Right. Those are his direct words.

And?

Scott Walker has done unprecented damage to education in Wisconsin. He has set Wisconsin educational policy on a course that will someday land us into the same soup that the Southern states are in. He is an awful human being.

You do realize what he did to the teachers' union don't you?

I draw the line at those things which severely hurts society and this is one of them imo. If I "put it all on red" and lose, are you OK with me stealing from you or others to augment my gambling habit...are you OK with your paying for my food stamps and other public assistance because I'm now bankrupt. I'm all for personal responsibility, but I also know that casinos hurt far more people than they help. Those with gambling problems adversely affect many more people than themselves with their bad decisions.
But that same thing can be said for all the things the left wants to do. If I drink multiple Big Gulp Mountain Dews and eat multiple bacon cheeseburgers and get grossly overweight, society suffers the costs as much as do I. Same with alcohol or tobacco - what real societal benefits do they have compared to their very real societal costs? Move down the line to violent video games or movies; there are real societal costs, but no offsetting societal benefits. Often they are even the same societal costs; if I spend all my money on hookers and blow, I'm just as broke as if I put it all on red and lost (plus I'm addicted and probably infected.) Same with video games; some people have literally let their children starve playing them.

Individual liberty is not revenue neutral; people will always choose to do some things that are a net liability to society simply because those things are enjoyable to them. If we are to be free adults, we have to be free to do things that make no sense to other people.

I'm not surprised by this. Whatever he does believe evolution is just one of those topics that politicians are better off just dodging or at best staying in the middle. However I would like to think that any sane person in charge believes in evolution

I think this just really goes to show the reputation for civility and politeness enjoyed by the British is completely undeserved.

Asking a hopeful/potential leader of the world's foremost economic and military superpower if he believes in, understands, and respects scientific fact is clearly both out of bounds and blatantly disrespectful. Kudos to Walker for keeping a stiff upper lip in the face of such presumptuous and rude behavior.

What a fucking wanker. The British guy too.

In Scott's defense, he is gearing up for a Presidential run and I am quite sure that the check the Potawotami will be sending to his campaign is quite hefty.

Yup, exactly my thoughts too. I'm think there was some discussion about helping his presidential run if he blocks the Kenosha casino. Just a hunch.

Casinos increase crime, hurt the poor and have various other adverse impacts on society. If this is your primary reason for believing Scott Walker is an asshole, you might want to find some other "reason" to vilify him.

Yes, with freedom comes risk. Guns can and do hurt innocent people, but we believe in freedom so we keep them legal. You can't have both freedom and total security. The right loves to argue for small government interference and of course the benefits of capitalism. If Potawotami cannot compete, do they deserve government protection via Scott Walker? At the cost of thousands of jobs? Many of them good paying middle class jobs? This is the tipping point for me where I realized he's just another two faced asshole politician that will be a hypocrite and do a complete 180 on everything he claims he stands for.

I think you made one inference too many. Being Christian does not mean you do not believe in Evolution. Obama believes in Evolution.

He also believes in a magical man that created the universe. Clearly the Democrats that support him are nuts and should not hold public office, or even be allowed to vote.

That's what we're talking about here, right? People with religious beliefs shouldn't be allowed near government?

I quoted exactly what Scott Walker said yesterday...and his initial statement wasn't ridiculous, it was the bullshit "gotcha" question that was ridiculous. Now that he's clearly stated that he believes in science do you feel better? Or do you still think he's lying about believing in science despite what he said?

I just love these nebulous terms like "the left" and "the right". I count myself as a mixture of both; so what is it exactly that I, as a sometime member of "the left", want to do?

As far as hookers, blow, video games, gambling, etc., we'd be better off concentrating on people with addictive personalities rather than on the particular substance or behaviour.

As far as Walker's stance on evolution; he's just as clueless as a lot of other Americans. I don't believe in evolution; I accept it as the best explanation of the various forms of life on Earth and how they've adapted to various environments and conditions.

My $.02

You obviously would like to see a casino in your area despite the proven consequences adversely affecting the poor. Do you actually care about the poor or are you just another hypocrite who does a complete 180 on everything they claim they stand for? See how your kind of simplistic mentality works?

You crack me up too it for a completely different reason. How dare you take this backward moral stance against libertarian freedom, yor authoritarian Christian prude. The reason this cracks me up is that I hold the exact same point of view. Gambling should be illegal.

omg!!! Walker gave teachers a choice on paying dues and a choice of whether they even wanted a union? How evil of him.
