If we had elected leaders who could "think critically", we wouldn't have half the mess we have today. Obviously that has not happened, the "leaders" we have are a reflection of our collective stupidity.

I don't care what his personal beliefs are, so long as he doesn't try and impose them onto everyone through the public school system.

This is a very, very good answer...and I agree 100 percent.

I'd also punt on political trap questions like that.

Perfect
Moments like that, the aide said, show why Walker will win the White House in 2016. “The American people are sick and tired of a President who knows things,” he said. “They’re ready for Scott.”

lol at the name of the article the OP quoted but didn't want to post:

Nonsense questions politicians shouldn’t answer

Great quote from that article..

For starters, the motive behind the question is clearly to mock and ridicule. Does the media ask liberals if they believe in the Immaculate Conception?

:| Umm... I don't quite think the questions are similar..

He answered it exactly the way he should answer it. Stupid question. I don't care what he personally believes in or doesn't believe in. As long as he doesn't try to push some religious crap as "science" in schools, I'm good.

Naaww! Walker is now for taking the previous cap off Tax payer money(vouchers) that were being taken from Public Schools and given to religious schools. That was his idea too.

What he is against is the same standard of education getting applied to his pet charter/religious schools. No tests for the pets!

I used to be behind Scott Walker, then I realized he's just another politician with an agenda for his party and nothing else. I live in Kenosha, big controversy over getting a casino here, which he blocked. Would have meant hundreds of jobs. The Menominee tribe was going to put $220,000,000 towards a new sports stadium (plus the Bucks owners and Herb Kohl pledged hundreds of millions of dollars) making a new stadium very cheap for WI citizens. He blocked it, now it looks like Waukegan (city just on the other side of the WI / IL boarder) is going to try for the casino, is the rumor. So the jobs go to IL, we don't get the money, and the current casino in Milwaukee still loses patrons to the casino if it is built in Waukegan. He's a real asshole.

Casinos increase crime, hurt the poor and have various other adverse impacts on society. If this is your primary reason for believing Scott Walker is an asshole, you might want to find some other "reason" to vilify him.

In Scott's defense, he is gearing up for a Presidential run and I am quite sure that the check the Potawotami will be sending to his campaign is quite hefty.

I agree that it's a nonsense question politicians shouldn't answer, but let them say that, not try to be all things to all people. Especially people who don't believe in evolution. I am so freakin' tired of politicians who point with their thumbs and try to drone on without actually saying anything just to gain power.

I just wonder why the OP omitted it from his post.

Though with Obama, we'd have to change that quote to "politicians who know things after they read them in the paper", since he doesn't even know what the executive branch is doing until he reads it in the paper. Even when his staff is formally briefed as with the IRS malfeasance, Obama remains personally ignorant until he reads it in the paper or sees it on the news.

Isn't this exactly what we bash the left for, restricting individual liberty for our citizens' own good? Seems to me that if one earns one's money and wants to put it all on red, that should be allowed in a free society. (I'm not a gambler personally, but I am a fan of individual liberty.)

Why is it a nonsense question?

That’s a question a politician shouldn’t be involved in one way or another.

But politicians routinely ARE involved in things that involve that question. Again, while I'm fine with whatever they think so long as they don't involve themselves in scientific questions, asking whether or not someone accepts the overwhelming conclusions of science isn't 'nonsense'.

Also, seriously. It's a Jennifer Rubin column. In case anyone has a question of what a hack she is, read this:

http://www.theatlantic.com/politics...lem-a-case-study-in-info-disadvantage/264942/

You'll notice the disdain towards her is bipartisan. She's simply a worthless hack.

I draw the line at those things which severely hurts society and this is one of them imo. If I "put it all on red" and lose, are you OK with me stealing from you or others to augment my gambling habit...are you OK with your paying for my food stamps and other public assistance because I'm now bankrupt. I'm all for personal responsibility, but I also know that casinos hurt far more people than they help. Those with gambling problems adversely affect many more people than themselves with their bad decisions.

Just goes to prove how worthless this thread is. OP posts a quote but doesn't post the source because the title of the article blows away the OP's stance and apparently its also written by a hack.

Also, my reply was a direct quote from the OP. Which again shows how utterly worthless this thread is.

I agree, out of context quotations are not cool. Out of context quotations from idiots doubly so.

Do you think a Politician should have to answer the question, "Does he believe in science?"

While I think not accepting evolution is crazy, I don't really care what politicians say about it so long as they aren't trying to undermine the teaching of evolution in the classroom.

But yes, he's probably pandering for the primary.

As a Californian born and raised, I find it unfortunate that a major party is littered with the idea of opposing evolution. I have trouble understanding or relating to their mindset. From that I have trouble respecting them.
