You can always twist and turn theology to make it align with science. If you take that point of view then religious people should be extremely interested in science because it unlocks the true meaning of the bible.

Science can't unlock the true meaning of the Bible. The Bible was written by people and a lot makes no sense. The Bible is about a person who attained God consciousness. To understand what the Bible tries to talk about you have to have that consciousness. There is only one truth and it has been revealed by many people in many different ways. The things that differ are the paths taken by those who attained and the nature of the blindness of the people around them, the message they most need to hear. There is a science of religion but it's not the science you are talking about. The science of religion includes the observer as well as the observed. The notion there is an observer separate form the observed is an illusion.
