Actually..now that I think about it....It's makes perfect sense from Trumpster's POV, and I notice this weird dichotomy when "discussing" things with people from that crowd.
At times they'll say they're a besieged, oppressed group whose noble hegemony is withering away in a culture war they're supposedly losing. Circle the wagons.
Other times they're cocky, chest-beating bullies that are going to kick some ass as their opposition flee in terror at their righteous indignation.

I'd be surprised if the whistleblower has anything of value beyond what is already in the report. Unless he or she is willing to identify his or her White House sources for the committee so that they can be subpoened, which I doubt.
I think it's necessary to stay ahead of defenders of Trump from identifying and slandering them without the chance to put out a different narrative before. It's very sad because it demolishes the idea that someone can flag evidence of political corruption without serious personal risk. Honestly, the whistleblower has nothing to do with anything at this point (unless, as you say, they help us identify witnesses or have other evidence not in the report). Once it was deemed credible by the IG, what matters is the contents of the report. None of it is evidence for any action against Trump without other verification. Of course, there has already been significant verification already.
I generally agree but with two important caveats. First it appears likely we didn’t get the full contents of the call with the Ukrainian President. As allegedly Trump pressed him to investigate Biden multiple times and presumably Trump only released the most innocent sounding one there could be something there.
Second, they may he aware of additional misconduct that they felt they couldn’t sufficiently corroborate but might be of interest to the committee as an avenue for further investigation.
Overall though you’re probably right that we shouldn’t expect much.
Yes in many ways I don’t know why the whistleblower is even relevant. Trump already confessed, after all.
It was my understanding that it wasn't just the call but rather other things the admin had already done that added context to the call. I seem to remember reading that most of that had not been released and that's what the whistleblower was actually trying to get through the proper channels (but didn't actually specify that stuff yet as it was bigger than just the impropriety that Turmp and Guiliani were partaking in). Which, even if its just tied to some of the actions we know about (them freezing the aid money prior to the call), it could still provide testimony that Turmp friendly persons knew this was wrong and still carried it out and/or tried to quash it.
I personally have a hunch that there's something to do with Russia here, as in, they probably have some communication between Turmp and Russia that would seem to show Turmp orchestrated all of this not to trash Biden as a potential competitor in the election (like it seems that most are taking it as and I think it was spun into later), but rather is part of Russia's work to undermine Ukraine. Thus it would prove that Turmp is doing activity at the behest of and the benefit for a foreign power (and thus is compromised). I wonder if this might turn into a full blown treason investigation.
He is retweeting a "pastor" who uses the bible to "fight climate change science", condemns Jews to hell, has stated there is no such thing as separation of church and state.

It is sad that we have a POTUS so of the rails that this didn't seem like a complete unfathomable situation. Of course, the far greater risk is one of his cult members taking up arms for him...again.
