1 - not sure yet
2 - so far they all look the same to me.
3 - i've only seen mutants and some dogs. i haven't been very far yet though. doesn't seem to be as much life as there was in the original game. (swamp area at least).
4 - no. still have load screens between areas. the game pretty much plays like the original stalker so far, at least imo.

the pda shows the marker on the pump facility but the actual quest thing says it's in a boar lair or cave or something. I see nothing like that.

I think what is happening is the game "thinks" you are somewhere else other than where you think you are on the map.

Example: In the Swamp - I found a storage box and used it. I then headed off to a different part of the swamp to help capture a point. When I returned back to the same box - I couldn't open it. And according to the map, there should've been about 5 friendlies - but none of them are visible.

Btw what Clear Sky version do you US guys have(as despatched)?

note: The game should be v1.5.01 out of the box.

Patch v1.01 changes the game to version v1.5.03.

Patch v1.02 changes the game to v1.5.04 ( this patch is not compatible with earlier saves ).

i patched to 1.5.04 right after installing so I don't know what it came as. i would assume 1.5.01.

I actually did find the pistol on one of the walkways to the pump facility, but it wasn't exactly where the marker said it was.

i put a bunch of items into a box somewhere but now i can't find it, or someone else stole it :(
it was a bunch of ammo that I wanted to store, plus a bunch of medpaks and other stuff like that.

I never bothered storing items in this game so far ,I just don't trust leaving it somewhere.

do you just not pick up stuff or do you use a weight mod/cheat?

oh, another thing i noticed is that when you are trading, if you hover over an item, it says like 500 RU, but when you place it in the section to actually trade it, it will say 1000 RU. It doubles the price listed for everything.

Also, if you hover over an item you want to sell, like a bottle of vodka, it says 100 RU but when you put into a slot to sell it, it only sells for 20 RU.

Is this glitch or am i missing something?

I keep what I need and go back to base and sell the rest,I do this a few times to build up my cash and also becasue you can't carry it all due to weight limit.

This-a-one. Still quite a few annoying bugs. I REALLY hope that the next patch won't kill my saves cause I will go on a rampage...

I haven't had issues with these 'fetch' quests. Sometimes they want unique items, so that may (probably won't) explain why the quests are still telling you where to go. The side quests that are definately broken are the attack/defend 'help calls' that you get. Sometimes the friendly attacking group doesn't move to attack, or you go to attack, then the quest is suddenly cancelled.

I think this could be attributed to an invisible barter system. If you played Oblivion/Morrowind, there was always an 'MSRP' on an item, but depending on your relation to the trader and skills, price changes. That or the system is just bugged.

And not storing items? Wow. I have my main stash at the trader in Cordon (Sychor...something). Theres a couple thousand pistol, AK and shotgun shells and one of each anomalie I've found thus far. Sometimes I need to remind myself that money can be exchanged into goods and services... I hate double-clicking ammo. Can't believe they didn't implement a typable ammo moving interface.

Pontifex, you don't have anything critical to say about this game, lol? How is it in comparison to the original? I found the original pretty desolate and hence (IMO) fairly immersive. How about this one?

I have a question, where is the northern entrance to the cordon? It's night time in my game, I don't see it on my pda, and I keep getting lost.

*sigh* contrary to popular belief on this forum, i don't hate everything.

I loved the original STALKER. This seems to be very much like it. So far I'm finding this one pretty desolate. Maybe it's just because it's the starting area? I just started into cordon last night which is the 2nd area, so maybe it will pick up. there are definitely more red dots on the map, lol. I know from reviews I've read so far, they said there are tons more enemies but i'm wondering if i'm playing the same game.

There is at least 2. I got 1, located another, but my resistances were so low, it was almost impossible to get it. You use the first detector by listening to the beep. The more frequent it is, the closer you are. You need a solid tone to see/pick-up an artifact. The next 2 versions are so much better you should just skip it until you get them; the artifacts there suck anyways.

I'm getting bit sick of the faction wars now. There is just no way to win anything and respawns just make it impossible to hold positions. I won't even mention the bugged capture/hold missions again in detail.

SPOILER
I cleared out the bandit base, 'won' the garbage for the stalkers and the minute I walk away from the base (still in Garbage), they completely respawned. And fighting in the bandit base is bugged. If you stay there too long or kill enough people, you are forced to holster your weapon like in other faction bases. Problem is, there will stil be bandits inside.

I didn't want to start a new topic for this, but I'm in Lab X16 in the original Stalker. I'm trying to escort Kruglov throughout the measurement site. Every time I try to do the mission, the old guy dies! I kill all the zombies in sight (I even look around to see if there are any zombies around his corpse), but after he dies nothing's around. Is he supposed to die? If not, how can I keep the old bastard alive?

He often dies right after you get hurt, if you move fast enough, you can kill off the invading zombies, but you have to do it while you are still ringing (which is damn hard) It took me like 3 times to do it, but he can be saved. Also, it is a little random whether they swarm him or not, try restarting from the beginning of the mission as well.

Does Clear Sky include DRM like Warhead or Spore?

Edit - Looks like TAGES.

I got concerned for a moment when one of the google results claimed it used Starforce.

Have you guys with the 4870's tried enabling "Triple Buffering" in the CCC?

I got Clear Sky today and found this to be a helpful boost in gaining stable performance.

Ah ok, thanks. Ill probably just skip this then, i think fallout 3 is more up my alley.

But uh...they didn't shoot you on sight for doing missions for the other side in STALKER. They certainly shot you if you shot one of their guys - they have radios after all - but it's the killing their dudes that pisses them off, not working for the other side.
The only anomaly I can think of that show int the manual and wasn't usefully in the game was burnt fuzz. The rest were all there and had at least some practical difference. Woe to he who mistakes whirlygig for springboard.
The stalker monster count there is a bit odd. I'm trying to remember which bloodsuckers were simply unavoidable to beat the game, and I suspect it's more then two. Plus you left out controllers, which are pretty rare, and the thrice damned chimaeras, which are exceptionally easy to mistake for a particularly unpleasant anomaly.

Anyone using a good weight mod? I've tried a few different ones and they all CTD when I try to move from area to area (like from Cordon to The Garbage).

Christ this game is buggy. The rain graphics glitch is starting to get really annoying. Here I am wandering around Garbage in the middle of the dark, I can't see anything and it starts raining. Suddenly I get a mass of dancing triangles and lasers in the sky as if I was in some 80's disco. This is quite irritating. Also is it just me or are bandages and medkits very rare in this game? In the original around the end I had around 60 medkits and bandaids and was never in risk of running out. Here I get about 4 or 5 and due to the heavy bleeding I use them up in one firefight. Then I run around frantically looking for a bandaid all the while bleeding and being shot by bandits.
