And no glitch during rain for me but I have no idea how to pass the military at Cordon, lol.

I'm there too. Inadequate cover? Check. Pea-shooters for weapons? Check. Instant death, the second you poke your head out? Check.

Inability to alt-tab out of the game? Check.

Spoilers: duh?

Indeed. This pissed me off. I reloaded at least 20 times from the time I got to the Cordon, up to the time I finished massacring the soldiers... The soldiers are easy to kill, but that machine gun is just insane. When moving from cover to cover, you have to pray that you don't get hit and use trees to block yourself from the gunners FOV. Anways, I decided early on that if I could get away from the machine gun, I may as well just do it then go back in and get some. There's another Cordon entrance to the north from the swamps. Anyone try that? It was worth it, but then I found the first major problem.

When attacking the outpost, soldiers would just run past me, even if I shot at and hit them. If they saw me, they shot at me, but gave up too easily. I just picked everyone off one by one. They have to fix the AI. In the first Stalker, when I attacked the outpost, every soldier was on alert and actually attacked me; not saying they did it smart, but at least they ran towards me to try to kill me. I haven't had these same issues in any other fights though.

Now for a change of tone, I'm very impressed with the upgrade/repair system. No more reloading cause my irrepairable armor took too many hits and just became as good as a t-shirt. I'm somewhat annoyed that bandages no longer repair health too. They are essential to staying alive though.

Also, no artifacts during rain or thunderstorms.

I'm about to load it up again, if I die a few times I'll try the north entrance

I can alt tab just fine...in fact, doing it now as I type this.
If you go around to the different places in the swamp and do the raids, you can find some viper 9mm SMGs.

Haven't seen any glitches yet.

oh, and be careful about getting too close to the clear sky guys with your weapon drawn, they will disarm you and you can't get your weapon back. the one guy stole my modded shotgun :(

Anyone else noticed that if a friendly NPC is trying to get past you so he can go die quicker, he'll end up pushing you out of cover?

There we go. If I shift-tab into the Steam overlay I can alt-tab then.

I like the weapon / armor upgrades but I never have enough cash for them, lol. I probably should do some missions and take a break from the main story for a bit for some moola, but thats for another day.

not many enemies in the swamp area, at least while you're walking around. just the occasional mutant. doesn't seem to be as many stashes or boxes for storing stuff. there;s like 1 box at each location, if that. really ticking me off about not having a box at the CS base.

I just ty to avoid the fixed machine gun turrent best I can, there's really nothing you can do about it until you have a sniper weapon of some sort at a later stage,I have to replay this part again thanks to the patch that was incompatible with earlier saves.

If you didn't use the North entrance (still don't know if it's open or not), how in the hell did you avoid the machine gun? I tried ducking behind bushes and hugging the fence lines to no avail. To me, it looked like the gunner's field of fire was unavoidable. I wonder if you can sneak past when it's pitch black.

I did say "try to avoid", as to night time he still fires at you, also I went to that area via southern camp guide in the swamps, sure you'll take damage etc from the gun but you can get out before the soldiers arrive, use the binoculars and you can see when the best time to make a run for it to avoid the soldiers, why waste ammo this early in the game, especially with that machine gun post waiting to kill you.

*spoilers* not story related but gameplay

Get to the 2 large stones, kill the 2 guys that come to you, then to your left you'll see a knocked over tree with 2 boxes under it, shoot the 2 boxes and then running and crawl under the tree and run towards that place the trader is at using trees as cover for the first 20-30 meters.

Woops, missed the "try to". As for ammo, don't worry about it. If you manage to kill all the soldiers at the base, there is *SPOILER* a footlocker with 800 rounds of AP and 800 rounds of regular AK47/74 ammo. There is also about 5 frags of each type and 500+ rounds of pistol ammo. Just remember to get it all before leaving, looks like they respawn.

Just so you know, you don't actually have to deal with all those soldiers. If you keep hugging the barbed wire on the left of the entrance, you'll come to a fallen tree under which you can crawl and bingo you're free!

Game crashed after first install. Install again and patched to the latest and appeared to run. Don't try to leave clear sky camp with approving that you'll help them out. You can't leave due to thev invisible barriers. I can handle natural barriers and fences but not bushes or poles in the ground without and fencing in between. Blah. I cleared the burnt farm and pumping station and received the ok and then 5 minutes later I'm getting a message on my PDA that I need to do it all over again. Blah! I also can't find the damn fishing thing to get back to clear sky for my reward. There are numerous invisible barrier out in the open when you try to walk around in the swamp.
This game looks great and I thoroughly enjoyed the first one but right now this game is broken. I hope GSC is quick with some substantial patches or this game will decay on my harddrive. :(
It's also a resource hog. I have a 4860 x2 and a quad oc'd to 3.0 andcan't run above 1920x1200 max led out on XP. I hope GSC tightens down the code is the next few patches.

I can't imagine anybody being able to survive that machine gunner. I gave up and went around. So far I enjoy the game a lot.

Is this on by default or off? If it's on, I haven't noticed it, surprisingly.

Small complaint/praise (don't know which yet) about grenades. The enemy uses them a lot and very accurately. However, it's a nice break from the first game, and has given me a lot of 'oh shit' moments.

Oh, and mutant respawns or respawns in general may be a bit on the high side. Issue is amplified by the fact that PDA shows it all now.

Shoot the 2 boxes then use the "low crouch", not just standard crouch.

are some of the side quests broken? the one to return the modded PMm and there's one where a guy at the pump facility needs some 5.45x39 ammo. I have the ammo but he doesn't seem to want to take it.
the pda shows the marker on the pump facility but the actual quest thing says it's in a boar lair or cave or something. I see nothing like that.

Are any of these things from stalker different in clear skies?

1. Ability to join/do missions for more than one group, so like team A are not psychic and will not be able to tell you have been doing missions for team B and therefore will not shoot you on sight like they did in stalker.

2. Better anomalies, i read the manual for stalker and there was a ton of different anomalies, but in the game theres like 5 discernable types, or a lot less than advertised in the manual anyways. They took anomaly A, made it wobble from side to side or made it a bit stronger and one fancy new name later we have anomaly B!

3. More monsters. I remember snorks, dogs, more vicious dogs, larger vicious dogs with flat faces, and some kinda pig (my favourite it looked horrible! very cool monster) and the one they advertised so much with the tenticle mouth which i only encountered twice in the whole game.

4. Improved game engine. I dont know why oblivion dosent have load times when you walk from one end to the other but i put it down to the engine being clever, it feels like one big world, but in stalker theres a bunch of disjointed small worlds separated by a loading screen, is this any different?
