S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

just installed this game...anyone running any mods other than carry weight? bunch of them out there...

I put in a 'sell weapon regardless of condition' mod, and a weather change one. Oh, and real world weapons names.

Will be looking for a high quality texture mod, once those shake out some. Interestingly, CoP as is, runs 15 degrees cooler on my video card, and about 8 degrees cooler on the CPU, as opposed to the earlier versions with texture mods.

Finished the game.. God, cutscenes SUCK... UGH and the ending sucked too! Soooooo lame.

But the game was generally not too bad. It kinda sucked that I got the best guns in the game so early though. It would have been nice to have more variety.

I have got loads of things left to do,I always take my time in these sort of games and explore slowly and carefully,leave no stone unturned .

Shotguns are my favourite so far since they do a lot of damage compared to assault rifles.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks the quality of this game is garbage. I've only played for about 5 minutes but I'm already really struggling with it.

What's up with just the game suddenly starting with me in the middle of the field? I have no idea what my objectives are or wtf to do. Did you even bother to read the opening text and watch the cutscene, or are you one of those people who skips everything trying to to the "meat" or the game?

The loading times are long and give the impression that the game crashed. You just have to wait it through. Fix your PC. Mine is so much slower than yours yet I don't have these issues. Longest load was maybe a minute long...

There is absolutely no multithreading going on. I have an i7 920 and 4870 and the game runs like crap and looks terrible. My first core is pegged at 100% and all the other cores are are 0%. Again, fix your PC. The game runs butter smooth on my rig. As for multithreading, how many games do you know out there that take advantage of multiple cores and do it well? Bet you cant name more than 10-20 titles, if even that. Think.. That's 10-20 titles in a SEA of single threaded games.. Why bitch about something that's obvious? It's like bitching about the fact that we have the technology to build hydrogen fueled cars, yet those bastards are not building them in large quantities for an average middle class consumer at an affordable price. See, this just shows you that you wasted your money on an i7. You gave in to all the marketing hype and jumped on that wagon. Are you really using that i7 to it's fullest potential? How many games are out there that you know of that fully support 64bit tech? How many games are out there that support quad core cpus and even dual core? It's all marketing BS. I don't have an i7, yet my PC owns yours when playing STALKER. ; )

This game does have some interesting unscripted moments that I would never see in other games.

I was out protecting freedom members on the science missions. It was just monsters, but then one duty guy walks up and starts shooting them. I am allied with duty but I have to shoot him to protect freedom. Then when I go to get his stuff the last freedom person gets killed. Now they are both neutural to me

Nod - wish other devs would take notes from how npcs act in this game - it feels "alive".

And..nope - no females - this is Russia - women aren't allowed out of the kitchen!

the time i played i accidentally shot a stalker with 1 bullet while shooting at a dog. all the stalkers turned against me and started to shoot me. it was an accident!!! had to reload the game.

Gotta find me an RPK-47. I have a few hundred rounds and an exoskeleton to hump it with.

Wow..so once you hit Pripyat - repairs/ammo/meds are free - the only time you'll spend money [maybe 20k max?] is traveling back to the other 2 zones.

End battle was interesting - ending sequence was kinda of lame...but it gives you info about various people you dealt with during the game.

On to the next game - Bioshock 2!

I've been using a SPSA-14 shotgun and a TR301 (? the M4 copy). I was using an Eliminator, 12-round drum shotgun for a long while, but wanted the coolness that is the SPSA after a while. I went Tunder for both Clear Sky and SoC, so decided to switch it up.

Ugh... if I knew the GP37 was so hard to find again, I would have kept it. I found it on a dead guy in the first two areas (I killed him and his friends), but the condition was bad, and I didn't think I'd make a profit humping it to town and fixing it.

I got my GP37 off a group of enemies that attacked me at Jupiter plant in good condition too,could be random drop?

I found one annoying bug,protecting one of the stalkers from mutants etc while he takes his readings in the open ,guess what?.... got emission warning message ,lol he just stands there and you die ,so I run for cover on reload and he stilll dies,so I reloaded an early save and will wait for the emission to finish before I do that mission again.

I'm up to 30+ artifacts now.

Btw this game is far better then Clear Sky IMHO, as to the first Stalker game which had a lot of bugs but I still enjoyed it.

The best S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game out of all of them, imo. It is bug-free, for me, and it really does a great job in submerging you into its environment. It's just awesome! I just got to Pripyat so I am taking it slow.

Shut up. I only had $50k when I found the GP37. I think that was the same group of mercenaries I found it off, except I think I remember 2 dropping. The condition may have been worse cause I shot their gun/fragged them.

I sell most of my artifacts and just keep one of each (except the low tier ones). Looks like I'm going Gravi and x2 -4 radiation artifacts.

Oh ya, don't go artifact hunting at night. Freaking chimeras come out and the bloodsuckers are damn hard to spot.

The graphics are terrible and yet it the game still runs like crap. It feels like a B movie production and I've been stuck in some freaking hole after grabbing some crap out of a car and I can't get the F out.

I'm playing it on an old X2 3800+ CPU with 4780 card @1920x1080 res,runs good enough if I play with the video setting options
I'm up to 37 artifacts now and 280k(have both the SEVA and Eko suits) and 0 crashes so far .

Once I've finished this game I'll move on to ME2,but this game is still very much enjoyable for me .
