I hope they put it on Steam soon. I'm too lazy to go to the store :p

I hope Steam gets it so I can play it at all. I went to Best Buy, Futureshop and EB today, but came back empty handed.

Oh, and apparently my local EB has completely cleared out their PC stuff...

I was about to go to Best Buy to get it but I checked their website and they don't even have it listed on there:hmm: Seems like the publisher kind of screwed up the NA release. The publisher for this game is different than the one they used for last game afaik.

I've completely given up on gamestop/ebgames (they're the same company now, right?) for pc games. My local gamestop has one rack of pc games, but they are all casual budget game crap, or really old stuff. They were selling BF1942 for $50 still  Judging by the condition of the box it was probably from the first shipment the got of the game, 9 years ago or whenever that was :awe:.

The Best Buy near me is actually really good with stocking PC stuff. They've got a dedicated PC section, with a custom built PC running Crysis on a huge monitor, a big long row of PC games, and a bunch of PC hardware (power supplies, GPUs, peripherals, etc).

There's a couple of Targets near me... but I'd rather not go there D:

Sell the wedding ring to pay for a new laptop, then skip your wedding to play STALKER, your wife wont care :awe:

You get mail on the weekend in London? Son of a...

Honestly, I sucks that no one has this yet. I don't even see it on Amazon.ca. It's on Amazon.com though.

Blah, I had a 3 day weekend.

Yep mail is delivered Saturday morning here,we also get mail sometimes on Sundays around Xmas too.

I had a quick play on Win7 x64 ,no issues with install or stability, runs smooth enough, just exploring and doing a few side quests at the moment.

Well, holy shite...

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?p=13359318

Looks like Canada has to wait until at least March for this. Damn you Steam, release it already...

Can't you order it from a different country ie international order?..

I have played a bit more and still no crashes,I also installed the increased weight mod since the max weight limited as usual was always too low for me in all of the Stalker games, plenty of missions to do and so far does not seem like a short game to me,I do like to explore all areas and not rush any game however.

I don't think it's worth the effort if it's going to be released within a month. The Steam thread says Viva, whatever the hell that is, will ship cross-border, but then there's the shipping charge, customs if the agent is feeling tariff-y, and a chance it won't make it to my door. Oh well, I'll play Farcry 2 until then.

Hmm... SOC seems to be very empty [ie: lack of npcs/mobs] when compared to the other STALKER games...

A crap load of missions right off the start... :)

I got in a few hours. At 1680x1050, medium/high settings it runs quite well on a 3,4GHz q6700 and a GTX 260 216c @ 725MHz. I do get a occasional stutter though, maybe I should back of on the OC, or up the voltage some more :p

So far it's pretty nice. Looks like it's easier to get artifacts, gun-upgrades are cheaper too. I like the gun-ordering part. No more faction-bullshit which was buggy. Easy to go places, seems like you can sprint longer too. Still can't carry a whole lot of stuff. Took me some time, but now I've allready got plenty of bandages/radiation pills etc.

One thing I don't like, is that I can't see how bad my radiation-poisoning is. Oh, the menu's got a bit of polish too, loading still takes a while, and shooting isn't like you're used to in Call of Duty.

Will grab a HD 5870 and see how it does in DX11. Will try to think of more :p

Money is not a problem at all here, I dont know if my wife will appreciate it though, you know me spending too much time on games after work, instead of with her.

hmmmmmmmm

So I got in a few more hours, the perks of being sick I guess.

I'm in the second area, and besides doing some fun missions, that can be really tense, I've been running around collecting artifacts too. As soon as you get a fully enclosed suit, you can walk into most anomalies, and walk out unharmed. These artifacts earn me lotsa money, so much that I have a exoskeleton, which is pretty cool. It lets me carry more stuff, so much stuff in fact, that I can keep the other enclosed suit with me, and three guns.

So, lotsa money, it's time to head out to pripyat :)

You can also use one of the many inventory weight Mods,I have one installed which works fine and makes it a lot easier to carry more stuff.

Hmmmm. Nice heads up. $29 is still a damn good deal for the retail version that just came out. Your stuck with it forever and can't resell though. So there's your trade off. I have both Stalkers non steam right now. Thought about sneaking in SOC for like $4.99 on Steam (what it has been before) and the price is jacked up to $19.99, lol....

***Squeas like little girll**

What the hell though? I bought both Stalkers retail, where's my discount? Wait, let me read the details before I talk out of my ass.

Edit: Screw it, just bought the $30 version. Don't have to pay taxes, small exchange rate, meh.

good job steam, you lost me (and possibly many others) as customers for Call of Pripyat by not telling us if or when you would offer it, so we ordered it elsewhere.
:-/
needless to say, I am...well you know...

come on now, they had both of the other games...most people could figure out they would get this one too.
