You guys must be playing a different game than me, because I don't get what you could possibly enjoy about this game. The combat system is crap and glitchy. The graphics are terrible and yet it the game still runs like crap. It feels like a B movie production and I've been stuck in some freaking hole after grabbing some crap out of a car and I can't get the F out.

Spolier alert!!!!..
There are tunnels near the car leading up explore those, take out the snorks you'll soon get to the surface, took me 5-10 mins max.

I wonder if people annoyed with the combat system understand it. It's a bit unusual in that any movement - even shifting aim - penalized your accuracy, so if you want to hit someone reliable, you need to stop, crouch, duck low, aim at their head and give it a moment to settle in.

At any rate, vastly improved over Clear Sky and I honestly think it's better then SoC. Very nice that you can equip a shotgun and an assault rifle at the same time, not just a pistol and primary.

Wow dude. Anger much? Fix my PC? hahaha wow. I guess it doesn't matter that I also tried it my other PC that has a AMD X3 720 with another 4870 and it runs even worse on that computer? It also probably doesn't matter that both other PC's run every other game butter smooth with no problem. Also, I didn't buy into any hype or marketing BS, I got the hardware for free for building a friend his computer.

I'm sorry that you have lie through your teeth to protect a game you are a complete fanboy of. You can't tell me this game is anywhere near polished.

PS. You suck.

Oh I see, you have Ukraine as your location, no wonder. You have to protect the only game that ever paid any attention to your shit hole homeland, I get it. I understand it's necessary to bad mouth a $300 i7 when that same amount of cash could buy a 1500 sq. foot apartment in your homeland.

Take care, comrade.

Dang man, your an angry one. Well this non-ukranian has the game running smooth at 1920x1200 everything on med-high (no AA, don't usually need it at this res). Guess your new pc just can't compare with this ancient e8400 and 4870 ;)

Just finished this today. Stalker is one of those games where if I mess up a quest I don't reload and try again, I just keep on going. So the ending I got was not exactly the greatest.

About the oasis...
I had that puzzle figured out way towards the beginning of the game but I left because I got bored before I got to the oasis. When I looked up where it was online I kicked myself.

Anyone else get a bug with the "One Shot" quest. After talking to the guy, I read you're suppose to teleport to the quest location, but the entire HUD just disappears for me. Game world is still running, but I can't move and nothing responds.

Don't think it's a main-story quest, but still annoying. Googling it shows they "fixed" it in a patch for the russian release in November. I found one other instance of it online.

Ok, forget it, it's a bug, but I think I know why. I may not have done it in the order I should have to get the quest, and the quest probably should have been disabled afterwards, but wasn't. Oh well, only had to "End Task" 4 times...

Spoiler-ish

So I just finished it! Best Stalker yet, very cohesive, well planned out, and immersive. Only 3 maps, but they all went together well. Just wish there was more to do in Pripyat. Love the urban setting. Unfortunately, the last 2 games used the urban settings for a massive battle, so it obviously doesn't feel as good.

This had the "best" ending yet, which is disturbing when you think about it. I was actually slightly surprised that it ended when it did. I was expecting another run for the CNPP or a big reveal of what was going on.

Ran the game at 1920x1200 maxed out on an i5 750 and 5770, not a chug except when loading between areas. Aside from the aforementioned bug, nothing big.

Really hope they make another one. Not sure where the story will go. Maybe a Duty/Freedom member one. Just hope they add some more guns... Getting tired of the TAR, TR301, SPSA12 and AK. Will play again...

Finished it too. The ending was nice, pretty epic battle with plenty of bullets flying all over the place. I really had hoped for more of those though! Something like a bandit attack on skadovsk or yanov would have been cool. Also, I did that 'One Shot'-mission, and the bandit leader dropped an awesome gun, which after fully upgrading it has night vision and barely any recoil. Only complaint I really have, is no nightvision on the fully enclosed suit or on the exo-skeleton suit.

Don't see how Imp got it to run maxed out on a i5 750 and a 5770? Running a q6700 at 3,4GHz (oh shit it reset to 2,6GHz when I reinstalled windows) and a HD 4890, and I had these weird stutters? As if I ran out of vram, even though most of the time it was in fact quite smooth (1680x1050 btw). There is some replay value though, so I will revisit with a HD 5870.

Just got this game.. Already worried with the opening sequence lol. The dialog was way different than the displayed text, even the years were off!!!

You can get 2nd gen night vision on the exoskeleton with upgrades. And yeah, the SEVA suit was the best possible armor in SOC, but in COP it isn't good for combat at all.

I noticed that too, but that only happens at the beginning and ending of the game. It's just translation issues, nothing that really matters. You can always play in russian with english subtitles :sneaky:

I finally finished the game lastnight and I was very happy with my GP37 with night vision scope,I had loads of different weapons but kept using my trusty GP37,I had no problems with the one shot mission, zero crashes too which beats the previous Stalker games on stability, overall good game :).

I have been playing Mass Effect 2 which is a great game so very much recommended if you want something new to play after CoP.

I have to say that the ending was quite good...nothing CGI or anything, but a good closing to the story and a good re-cap of the result of my actions and the characters lifes after the game was cool.

As far as performance goes, granted my PC is kinda top-end I had NO issues what so ever at any point...not saying the game never crashed, but if it did I dont remember and it happened once or twice. Was able to play with everything completely maxed out at 1800x1440...and I mean EVERYTHING...no AA however, but at my resolution its kinda unneeded I think...and it ran at 60fps consistently.

Very fun game, just wish it were longer, after getting into it and getting some badass weapons everything went by pretty quick...

My only gripe with the game were the weapons...my rifle bullets would start falling after like 100 feet (completely unrealistic, even with a weaker rifle) until modded and they were seriously underpowered...explain to me how a dog survives 3 direct shotgun blasts but dies after 2 hits with my knife...WAHH??? Again, after fully modding the guns they got almost to the point of realistic, but again, only after modding them to the max.

The whole weapons shit is whack...playing Clear Sky now...Call of Pripyat was my first STALKER game...in Clear Sky weapons suck too...shotgun with buck shot and it takes like 5 shells to bring down a standard bandit with no armor...headshots are instant kills, but body shots make them almost invincible...whackness...

damnit, after I arrived in Yanov none of the map markers for quests are working except for the main helicopter quest markers. I have no idea where the hell I'm supposed to go now for side quests.

You sure you didn't accidentally turn them off in the pda? One row toggles things on the map.

Vegeta: Yes, you should always be aiming for the head vs humans. And you should not be using shotguns versus people. Shotguns are for muties.

When you open your map, look for the green "LED"s beside the tabs lining the top. You can turn on and off what icons the map shows by clicking on them. Might be a possibility. I never ran into that.

I know I didn't turn them off myself, but maybe the game did it on it's own for some reason. I'll check. I hope that's all it is.

This has just happened to me. I'm about 7 hours in. I have not reached Pripyat but the only missions I now have available are beyond the waste processing station. But I go to teh waste processing station and neither fence gate will open. I think I am stuck. I'll try the fix, but I was clicking on and off all those tabs and icons.....Anyone?

Right.... and pigs can fly... and he says I'm lying through my teeth....

I'm sorry that you have lie through your teeth to protect a game you are a complete fanboy of. You can't tell me this game is anywhere near polished. Uhhh... The game IS polished... I don't know what you are talking about. I am not lying. I have no reason to.

PS. You suck. Heh.. Whatever makes you feel better about your wasted money buddy

Not to mention it's not true.
If you indeed got that i7 for fixing your friend's PC, you would know enough to have it working well, and run STALKER without any issues as is the case with me. As I already said before, I have no reason to lie or defend anything. The game works very well, because my PC is well maintained and properly set up.

Take care, comrade.Hmm... Ok ; )

Don't know about the icons but in order to get to Yanov you have to pay the guide at Skadovsk to take you there.

I'm playing it right now on a Athlon X2 4200+ (939), 2GB DDR1, and 4850. I run it at full details with great framerate at a whopping 640x480, so I don't really know what you guys are complaining about.

Ok, kidding aside, I left it at the recommended detail (I think high with DX10 lighting maybe?), 1680x1050. The game runs pretty smoothly everywhere except the home bases (skadovsk and yanov). Then again, I've never really been one to complain about frame rates, I'd guess I'm probably getting something in the 30s most of the time and 15 in town. My load times are terrible though.

Anyway, I'm kinda stuck on the "look for information about the gauss weapon" mission. I can't google anything about it at work (all the gaming sites are blocked) and my cable modem just crapped out last night, so I haven't been able to look up what to do. Been mostly running around pripyat for awhile.

FYI, you can - and must, to complete that quest - leave pripyat. There is a guide who will take you back to the other areas.
