Ukraine maintaining position here keeps the railway from Donetsk to Crimea from being used which is why the Russians want it bad.

I'd expect this to be approved fairly soon. It would help augment the surface to air systems Ukraine is receiving and open up certain long range strike options if the US or other nations agreed to supply the munitions. Doesn't appear to be any heartburn about it being "escalatory".

Great for hitting fixed targets useless for mobile targets on the battlefield.

so why cant russian planes be equipped with missiles that hit big moving targets like tanks?

in the 1st iraq war, saddam had 2500 pieces of armor.
by the end of week 1, he had 0.

even if russia has old 1990s plane/weapons tech, it should be still effective at killing armor like USA did in iraq war 1?

Let's hope so. Military commanders are, historically, quite a bit more concerning in these positions than are the ones that have been successful--when it comes to democracies, anyway.

Invoking Havel is of course what you want to do in CZR, so let's hope it's completely honest and real and not just election propaganda prior to moving the tanks into Old Town Square and to one end of the Karlov Most....

It requires either precision stand-off weapons or you have to send your planes in close to the enemy to get them with unguided bombs, rockets etc. Russia has fairly gone through it's stock of precision weapons and the few they have left, they are targeting Ukrainian infrastructure. Any attempts to get in close to Ukrainian forces by Russian planes will result in them being targeted by MANPADS. Iraqi forces didn't have access to MANPADS and the USAF is a lot more effective than the Russian air force and managed to dismantle the Iraqi Air-Defense. Russia has not been able to effectively control the air of Ukraine. Ukraine has continually been able to patch together enough forces to contest Russian air superiority and shoot down a lot of Russian planes.

So far Iran says a military installation in Tehran was attacked by "small drones."

I like it a lot that there's friendships being made, there's bonds being made with our brothers and sisters in arms for pursuing a righteous common cause of which in itself is righteous and on the right side of history.

Now if we can only overcome the Repub leadership and their talking heads over at FOX from intentionally siding with Putin so as to keep the commoners of America from uniting in this common cause of helping a fledgling democracy survive Putin's efforts at wiping Ukraine and its peoples from the face of the earth.

Uniting the nation in any way is the sworn enemy of the Republican Party. It's paywalled but details in part the extraordinary lengths Poland is going to in order to repair Ukrainian weapons. Hundreds of workers doing three shifts around the clock to fix damaged howitzers, APCs, tanks, IFVs. Tight security bordering on paranoia to keep Russian sabotage at bay. Poland will also serve as the repair base for the new IFVs and heavy armor Ukraine is set to receive.

As an increasingly prosperous country with lots of heavy industry they're in a unique position to help while securing some long awaited payback on Russia for all it's done to them.
