I'm still trying to wrap my mind around how Putin destroyed his country in 2 weeks. No matter what happens next, it's going to take years to recover.

Please point out where I said that was MY concern...merely pointing out why I suspect Fox is talking about gas prices (and to put the blame for them on Biden)

As for humans dying...meh. Humans die every day...some in much more gruesome ways than others. I'd rather spend the money that will get pissed away on this clusterfuck trying to solve the murder rate in places like Chicago.
If Chicago gets nuked, it will be totally murder free.

fun little tidbit on russian military failure: they were waiting for the ground to freeze so the tracked armored vehicles could cross easier, but because of climate change the ground never froze and remained muddy bogging down the advance. (time index in link)
right. It's the Xi delay. Putin wanted to go before the Olympics, and it had been frozen for weeks and the timing was right for them to move to Kyiv within 2 days or so. Xi made him delay until after the games and little man capitulated.

Ground thawed in the fortnight, but tiny dick was already committed.

Now, 5 years from now and if he still draws breath, Putin and what remains of "Russia" will be a vassal to Xi.

Oh well.

Of course they're going to paint it this way but the Chinese cannot be at all happy with what they are seeing with respect to the implications for Taiwan. Or US-EU-Asia cooperation more broadly.
The only thing I would add is that the CCP is not necessarily the Chinese people. Much like in Russia, they are brainwashed by propaganda. I know because I still have relatives there.

The way it's going, I'm not so sure that would be a bad thing...:p
fuck off. Chicago is like, #28 in murder rate or some shit over the last 5 years.

which means, it's only one of the 200 or so American cities that fill out the World's top 210 murder cities list.....

But, doncha know...it's infested with filthy libruls and coloreds who kill each other?

Mrs. Murphy's cow had the right idear. /s

Edit...by the way, that's 28th in the USA per capita...but still the most murders in the nation.

Other cities have also seen an increase in the number of homicides. But Chicago, as it has in previous years, ended 2021 with more homicides than any other city in the United States, including New York and Los Angeles, both of which had recorded at least 300 fewer homicides than Chicago for the year as of late December, according to police data from those cities.

Humans are dying and your concern is money? Pathetic.
Humans have been dying in Yemen in large numbers - maybe 3000 civilians have been killed by Saudi bombs. Nearly half-a-million people have died in all. But nobody seems to be in much of a rush to even impose sanctions on Saudi Arabia, yet alone go to war with them (mainly, it seems, for fear of those gas prices going up - i.e. the concern is money). The Turks have been violently suppressing Kurdish desire for autonomy for a long time, but Turkey is still in NATO.

I agree Ukraine is horrifying, and Putin is a psychopath that something very bad should happen to. But I just don't think anyone can strike judgemental postures as you do here while you've been happily ignoring all the other horrible situations that you could have been doing something about (without risking nuclear war).

Russian soldiers will be forced to take payment in rubles, correct? And I’m sure their contracts are non-negotiable with static payment amounts. At the rate things are going, Russian soldiers are going to get paid almost literally nothing, and that’s assuming they even have a Russia to return to.
Well, I guess it doesn't matter that the ruble's value has collapsed, when those soldiers - as low-income-earners - will be spending most of it on domestically-produced goods. The slump will surely mostly hit the upper-classes who like buying imported goods. Those people will be very badly hit indeed - their lifestyles are going to be wrecked. From what I hear, though, that doesn't include the small circle of the elite who Putin actually listens to, becuase those guys are hard-nuts mostly motivated by extreme nationalism rather than avarice and luxury goods.

The point I've seen made, is that Russia hasn't got that much manpower available, unless it calls up the reserves. And that will cause a lot more unhappiness, when all those guys with jobs and families suddenly get called up to participate in a war that isn't going terribly well.

I still don't understand what Putin thought he was doing. Seems like Russia just doesn't have the military strength to hold down a popular insurgency, yet alone conquer anywhere beyond Ukraine. I mean, I guess even in a democracy with a (sort of) free press US politicians totally misjudged Iraq and Afghanistan, so presumably Putin's view of the world was even more wildly delusional than was that of the neo-cons. Presumably he thought Ukraine would welcome their Russian "brothers"?

China's position is very different from Russia's. China has a huge amount to lose from any disruption of the "world order" and damage to international trade. Russia is far more insulated from the effects of that, and has much more incentive in seeing the US-dominated "world order" fall apart.

you'll see the same thing at a US trucker rally or Trump event or NASCAR race or Charlottesville statue Nazi rally, or Clint Black Wal-Mart parking lot concert: traitors with big guns and tiny dicks waving their blood red rebel flags for the very same idea of a failed social, economic, military, and humanistic ideology.

Never less proud.

But you go and gloat about that.

I think what the tank crew was going for here was to have a USSR flag flying in the air without actually exposing the tank (the camouflage you see there hiding whatever's on the turret) thus inviting the Ukrainians to shoot at the flag thus exposing the Ukrainian's position without blowing up the crew's ride. (Yes, I think they're that imbecilic).

OR, from a logical point of view, the dumbfucks really don't understand why they camouflaged their tank to begin with.

Reminds me of the practicality of shooting the guy next to you in the thigh while both of you are running away from a pack of starvation crazed baboons.
When we went camping in areas with bears, I always told my kids, then later my grandkids...I don't have to out run the bears...I just have to out run YOU.
