Nik is usually only completely unreasonable when the discussion is regarding pot.

I believe the term your looking for is "tantrum". My 18 month-old has them all the time, so I'm going to assert myself as an expert on this.

She should have watched the after school specials about eating disorders.

The only thing worth noting of this whole affair is how ironic it turned out to be... first, she voluntarily starved herself... no one cared. then the hostiptial stopped feeding her and everyone's up in arms. Call me apathetic, but I just dont give two shits about this woman or her family.

while trying not to be so cold about it, i basically agree.

Judging by the contents of this thread, I'd say there are several folks here who have had their thinking tubes removed.

Round 2.
Now the arguements over funeral arrangements begin.

Well, both sides agreed on an Autopsy but the husband wants her Cremated while the parents want a full Traditional Catholic service and burial.

Will the courts have to decide this too???

They'll drag it out as long as they can - the politicians must prove to their constituents that they are in fact doing real, actual, genuine work. And meanwhile, over 800 million people a year die of hunger elsewhere in the world. But let's focus all this attention on one woman who has had a heart attack that rendered her severely brain damaged.
Not to say that her loss, and her family's loss weren't significant, but there are greater issues out there that could have much more of the media's focus.

RIP media circus. On to the next heart wrenching news story. What will it be? A cute little white girl who was found dead in her basement? A pretty white woman who was killed by her husband? A little Cuban boy who made it to Florida?
Any of them sound good. Oh wait, those would all be reruns. Something new....hmm, what about Saddam Hussein? What happened with that trial, or is he still waiting for that? Put that on worldwide televisions. It could put the OJ trial to shame.

Aragorn of LOTR had the good, simple sentence:
"Be at peace."
Applicable here as well.

I'm going to repeat what I posted in the official Shiavo thread in P & N:

All esle aside. This Michel Shiavo guy is a class A P...R...I...C...K!

What kind of horses ASS wouldn't even allow the parents of their dying daughter be by her side in her final hours. Forget feeding tubes and all of the other BS.

That is just plain un-human and IMO this action alone proves that this man is lower than whale sh!t, and whale sh!t, my friends, is at the bottom of the ocean.

If someone I loved was being kept alive due to her parents wishes, taking me to court, and all this while I had to slowly watch her get old in that bed in a vegatative state, I might be a prick to her family too. It wasn't like she was going to get any better. He spent a lot of money trying to get her help, and in the end the medical community at large said she was a vegetable. Yet, her parents kept fighting.

Sorry, in his position, I would be pretty pissed off too and would probably deny them access at the last moments of her life. Heck, when you think about it, her last moments of her life were probably 15 years ago. Her parents are better off thinking of her moments back then instead of now.

Not that I give a crap about this case in the end. If people look at this whole ordeal intelligently, they will make out a "living will" and make sure that is carried out in the end if something like this ever happens. However, you won't see that happening anytime soon. People seem to think that a living will is something that doctors will look at and deny people the help they need. Scary.

What we should learn from the Schavio Case.

If you actually believe all of that rhetoric you just spewed out of your filthy sewer than you're a low as Shiavo. They've been in a pissing contest for 15 years now, so what. There is nothing in this world like a mother's love and who can blame them for wanting to fight. This woman was their flesh and blood, no matter what. They offered to take care of her, they offered Michael they easy way out, and this final act of denying her parents the right to be there with Terri as she passed away was just another extension of this petty man's heartless "Ill show you" antics. Its disgusting...really. There's going to be no funeral, there is going to be no goodbye and mourining for this poor family. They are going to be scarred for life for trying to act on what they felt was right and to protect their child as she was starved to death! How dare you side with "Well if it was my wife I'd be pissed off too"? There comes a time when this sort of crap must be put aside. And it boils down to plain common human decency and apparently you, sir, like Michael Shiavo have none. Grow up!

thats quite a bias you have there.

Ask me specifically what you feel is biased and I'll explain it to you. If you feel I'm biased that denying loving parents and family to be beside this dying woman in her final hours is just plain heartless then I guess you're right. I don't really care what the circumstances in the past were. This was her final hour and what he did what he did as payback and just to be a sh!t head. That's just cruel and I don't care who you are.

My point was directed to your use of derogatory comments while at the same time claiming to be on the side of 'human decency'. I.e., its okay for you to be indecent because you're on the side of decency.

You obviously feel passionately about this case, and thats your right. However, it would appear that you could try practicing what you preach.

I'm not really following your logic here. It seems like a diversionary tactic to avoid addressing the actuall content of my post. If you want to label me for calling Shiavo's actions out as being a horses a$$ and that's your sole premis for attacking me then go ahead! But calling a spaid a spaid does not hardly put me in contradiction with myself. And I'm not attempting to be holier than thou or handle this with kid gloves. Not allowing the family in was wrong pure and simple and FWIW, I've got better values than that and I think you would too. If my harsh criticism of this mans selfish acitons offends you than for that I apologize, but I think you've clearly missed my point if you're hanging your hat solely on derogatory comments.
