So, the Fund-A-Mentals and the authoritarian right were NOT trying to interfere in a private family matter? That legislation passed by Congress (note that only 3 Republican Senators were present on the Sunday it was passed by the Senate...how convenient) and signed by the President that involves only a single US citizen is not an egregious use of the Federal government?

Notice that they failed. Yet again.

As I was saying in my post previous to this one, they make a big stink. The press makes the stink even bigger. But in the end, they almost always fail on the national level.

True. I really felt sad for the woman, I really did. I sympathized with her (when the story first broke a few years ago).

But it's recently that the furvor has gotten out of hand and people coming out of the woodworks trying to keep alive what is basically a vegetable. The constant media attention, the 24-7 coverage, the President and the Congress getting involved in what is essentially a husband/wife matter. Then you have the religious whackos comparing her to Jesus and carrying around 4' replicas of Christ hanging on the cross. I mean, come on.

It's then that I started getting entirely fed up with the whole thing.

Folks, when you really add it up, the RR is a HUGE failure at getting ANYTHING done on a national level. And the little gains they make on local levels are nearly always thrown out by courts (creationism).
