Yes its true that the last R governor was in 2011, but 2021 R's are a far cry from 2021 R's.
It depends. I agree that national Republicans are essentially a fascist personality cult but Republican governors in blue states like Larry Hogan are not so different than they used to be.

CA is indeed a very weird state. The people are pretty off the wall and easily talked into doing silly things especially with their politics. Exchanging Gray Davis for Arnold was a pretty dumb knee-jerk thing to do but they thought it would be fun to have a movie star running the state, and it wasn't. A lot of buyers remorse. Yet.... Californians will probably do it all over again with caitlyn jenner. I mean, caitlyn jenner certainly sounds fun if your a Californian . Swapping out Newsom for Jenner certainly sounds like a well thought out decision . No chance of buyers remorse with that one . What spooks me is how down pat South Park nailed down Caitlyn Jenner. Seriously CA, THIS is what you want ????

I think she'll get the Nellie Gail republican vote (rules are for plebes with 401Ks but I need my tax cut) but I doubt shes getting the riverside/central valley/Jefferson vote.

Trump had a unique profile for coalescing those disparate demographics. At least in 2016.

Arnold was RINO and was elected because California wanted a movie star governor.
Newsom should be recalled for no other reason than he doesn't know about closed captioning. I hope he cracks that code before he runs for president in 24.
While your party had mostly gone looney tunes pre fascist already, there were still a few actual conservatives around when Arnold got elected. Now you are a party of garbage mostly. Hey, enjoy it, you just might soon have the federal government. You can go full fascist soon enough.

Gray Davis got fucked over by failed policies put in place by his Republican predecessor, Pete Wilson. Pete was pals with the energy companies, especially San Diego Gas and Electric, (his home area) and pushed hard to deregulate the energy biz...promissing consumers that "if you vote for this, you will be able to buy whatever kind of electric power you want...green, solar, wind, even nuclear, from whatever energy company you want. It will be delivered over the same elecrtical system, you'll just pay a small wheeling charge to your local utility." Only...when given the choices, California consumers went crazy...they actually signed up for energy from OTHER companies...and SDG&E LAW&P, and PG&E went berserk...fought it in court...and won. The California consumer was stripped of the right to purchase outside power...but the rest of the deregulation law was left in effect...setting the stage for companies like Duke Power to jack up the rates they charged to the state for power...and leading to the rolling blackouts and brownouts that led to Gray Davis signing long term contracts at stupid prices as he tried to keep the lights and AC on for millions of Californians.

Probably fake news:

This is ridiculous. But ya know what, we should worry about ending the war on holidays first. Screw democracy.

At some point, the federal government needs to take a good hard look at the organization behind this. We are toeing the line of criminality and the shit head Republicans gleefully support tis action.

At this point how could you ever trust a republican governor to not fuck over a state of given the chance? Give Hogan a republican state legislator and watch the shit fuckery start, especially the gerrymandering.

Hope you all realize why they are doing this. It's to justify this...

Leaked Video: Dark Money Group Brags About Writing GOP Voter Suppression Bills Across the Country – Mother Jones

In a private meeting last month with big-money donors, the head of a top conservative group boasted that her outfit had crafted the new voter suppression law in Georgia and was doing the same with similar bills for Republican state legislators across the country. “In some cases, we actually draft them for them,” she said, “or we have a sentinel on our behalf give them the model legislation so it has that grassroots, from-the-bottom-up type of vibe.”

The Georgia law had “eight key provisions that Heritage recommended,” Jessica Anderson, the executive director of Heritage Action for America, a sister organization of the Heritage Foundation, told the foundation’s donors at an April 22 gathering in Tucson, in a recording obtained by the watchdog group Documented and shared with Mother Jones. Those included policies severely restricting mail ballot drop boxes, preventing election officials from sending absentee ballot request forms to voters, making it easier for partisan workers to monitor the polls, preventing the collection of mail ballots, and restricting the ability of counties to accept donations from nonprofit groups seeking to aid in election administration.

If the company performing the examination and the manner in which it is being performed and the length of time involved weren’t all so ludicrous, we have to add in that they are testing ballots for traces of bamboo because there is some nut brain conspiracy theory out there that 40000 ballots were sent into the state from Asia.

Unbelieveable.

Good news is I read that the majority of registered Republicans in AZ view the audit as a scam and poorly managed or something similar, I forgot the wording.
Audit was supposed to be completed on or around May 14, currently they are about 20% complete.
Hopefully voters hold those that supported this spending circus responsible.

It's a long read but an eye-opening one, much of this could be swept aside but for one man standing in the way, Joe Manchin, that F-ing maggat pretending to give a shit about his own damm constituency.

Manchin MUST GO!!!!!
Democrats are foolish believing that Manchin is a democrat. He is only the fox in the hen house. It would be better for democrats to force him out or dump him or whatever just to be rid of him. Sure.... Manchin's seat would be replaced by a full on hardcore trumper republican but at least democrats could take this serious and look to where they could "realistically" win over a seat in the senate. Go after one of those senate republicans from some purple state where a democrat challenger could actually win. And, forget about Joe Manchin and forget about playing Manchin's little games. HE'S A F-ing REPUBLICAN. It is better to know your enemy than to pretend your enemy is a friend.

Even his own blog won't put up with his bullshit. Did he self-ban?

Donald Trump's new blog crashed after he posted an unverified claim about election fraud in Arizona
Former President Donald Trump's "From the Desk of..." blog crashed on Saturday. Users were greeted with an error message, saying "something has gone wrong and this URL cannot be processed at this time."

The hourlong outage came after Trump posted a message about the ongoing election recount in Maricopa County, Arizona, according to the Gateway Pundit .

The message included unverified statements about election fraud in Arizona, saying "seals were broken on the boxes that hold the votes, ballots are missing, and worse."

Trump launched the blog in early May as a way to talk directly to his followers and the media. He was previously removed from both Twitter and Facebook , his most-used social media networks.

The Twitter ban for @RealDonaldTrump was said to be permanent. Facebook has been wrestling with letting the former president back onto its platform. The company said earlier this month that it plans to revisit the decision in six months.

His blog had about 212,0000 engagements during its first week online, notably fewer than some of his most popular tweets.

Earlier this month, Peter Loge, an associate professor at George Washington University, told Insider's Thomas Colson that "Trump is just shouting into the void."

Loge added: "He isn't letting anyone shout back. Shouting at people is a less effective way to maintain celebrity status and keep selling new merchandise than finding ways to create the illusion of interaction is."

Trump's blog states that it's paid for by Save America, a joint fundraising committee paid for by political action committees Save America and Make America Great Again.
