I love how he clarified himself with "afro-americanized."

"Sorry about what might have been a terrible slip of the tongue, let me remove any doubt that I just think black people do shitty work."

He absolutely should resign over that.

I think this is fitting...

Ironic considering California and Mass both passed marriage amendments\laws banning it. And it doesnt make whole lot of sense anyways since gay marriage is front and center today. In 50 years gay marriage should be a long settled subject.

It's funny how righties continue to deny the southern strategy and play down the worst racist in the Senate.

Umm you are wrong about Thurmond being the only democrat to switch parties. There were many.

Thurmonds and his lack of zero remorse or repentance trumps Byrd any day of the week. So your are wrong there too

LMAO at you two dumbasses arguing about whose party has the biggest racist, the most racist, etc...

uh uh, they switched parties so YOUR side has to claim em;

Oh hell no, YOUR side contaminated them first and made them racist, our side was just trying to undo the damage;

Well, our side only kept 42% of the racists so your side is obviously MUCH worse;

No way, the 42% your side kept were way more racist which means total net racism was higher on your side so your side is the most racist

Seriously guys? I know that werepossum most likely got sucked into the argument but still....

Maybe we can have a debate about which side has bigger dicks next?

Obviously it was a poor choice of wording, and an even poorer clarification, but I really think the black community should stop giving so much power to that word.

LMAO

WTF? Setting aside basic human courtesy, his points are entirely valid. We have little control over others' words, but we have ultimate control over their effect on us.

The only caveat I'd accept to that is that if slurs are widely spread and unchallenged, then due to subconscious coloring of thought (no pun intended) such things might have a material effect on us by prejudicing others' perceptions of us as lesser beings.

You fucking idiot.

OK, OK! The last two folk I called fucking idiots for saying that words have no power except what we grant them are off line and haven't responded so I am going to use your response least my words just hang out there.

My intention was to provoke a negative reaction from one of the two above to show that it doesn't matter that words have no more power than what we grant them because we grant them all the power in the world and often can't help doing so.

I insult people all the time to make this point. I tell folk they hate themselves and they get pissed off as hell? Why, because they do and they, as you might expect, hate themselves because they do, too.

So much that we witness here in P & N is the result of emotional content, baggage from the past, that we have attached to works that evoke just those emotions when we hear those words. When I call somebody a fucking idiot, with all the likelihood of being right, because that person will likely react negatively to that comment, while at the same time also thinking that words have no more power than we grant them. In short most of us can't live up to our philosophy but believe in it anyway and that is true in this case because our self hate is unconscious. In fairness, nobody is a fucking idiot because the forces that cause us to be idiots are unconscious and beyond our will.

It is very important, I believe, to know this truth about ourselves, words had their negative effects on us when we were children before the age when we had choice about how to react to things. Our feelings are unconscious and ingrained. And you can't make lesser people feel they are less than others because the whole structure of the ego is designed to prevent this recognition. It is the one truth we already feel and it is what we feel that is our real truth, not our philosophy. I had hoped to demonstrate this truth via actual demonstration.

If we lived by the notion that words have no power there would be no such thing as or any need for common courtesy. We are all sick because we were put down as children.

lol. A good one I heard was "African Engineering" when talking about something that was slapped together. It sounds so PC yet hilariously racist at the same time.

Chalk it up in the "probably shouldn't have said it, but probably shouldn't have to resign over it" category

Yep.

I'm pretty old, so I heard it quite a bit long ago. It was a very common expression. I don't recall it having any meaning other than a repair job done quick, cheap and/or poorly. Basically a temporary fix.

When I lived in France they sometimes used the term "Arab engineering" for the same thing.

It's funny how righties continue to deny the southern strategy and play down the worst racist, sorry "segregationist" in the Senate Strom Thurmond. Who likewise was selected at president pro Tempore.

Umm you are wrong about Thurmond being the only southern democrat to switch parties. There were many especially at the state and local level.

Thurmonds and his lack of zero remorse or repentance trumps Byrd any day of the week. So your are wrong there too.
I specifically said "Funny too how proggies never mention that of the filibustering Democrats who left the party to start the Dixiecrats, Thurmond was the ONLY one who eventually became a Republican, as if all those who returned to the Democrat Party mean nothing compared to the ONE who became a Republican.

You know, it's no shame to have whomever gives out your meds explain the meaning of posts before you respond.

Hey, just go to any airport men's room and you'll see that my side has the - erp!

You are correct; I just fear that if idiots are allowed to go unchallenged, they may convince other low information voters that they are telling the truth.

You fucking idiot.

Stupid comment and action must be taken. I am sure we can find stupid comments on the liberals as well

Typical excusing racism. Stupid comment would be the moon is made of green cheese. Pretty lame reducing racism to a passing comment.

False equivalence is bogus. You can always find one individual on either side but when the numbers are skewed something like 10-1 and one side tolerates the 10, they are not equal.

I think the funniest part is that anyone who has grown up around the term, would know exactly what he meant and would agree with it, regardless of its un-PC nature. So this is...much ado about nothing.

Agree 100%. It's very commonly used here, most people get it, has nothing to do with hatred which is what racist is which is also what sensitive and agitators want to perceive it as.
Doesn't mean crap other than someone did a half ass, cheap job with something.

Saying such a word despite meaning does not equal hate. Often it's spoken as habit without real meaning or ill harm.

I have never, ever heard that term. I laughed reading it. He is obviously prejudiced despite his claim to the contrary.

When I lived in Iowa, I heard that term used by plenty of people who weren't racist. It very well may have originated in a racist context, but that isn't how most people used it that I knew.

For example, a piece of the dash panel on my friend's Ford Escort broke, and he used a baseball card to prop it up. He referred to that as ****** rigging.

How is it the same group of people who will always excuse using racist terms as "it means nothing" had a collective bird when Chuck Hagel said "Jewish Lobby"

Oh and also the Ni**erhead Ranch, one Rick Perry's relatives had in Texas meant nothing either. Calling Obama a "Tar Baby" meant nothing either.

Ive never heard anyone say anything about something being "N****r-rigged" in my life.

I just find it interesting that some of you think this is regular speech where you live.

I don't have a collective bird, I'm sure Chuck meant exactly what he said and I'm quite sure he's right. It's asinine the amount of pull Jews have in US politics. I have no hatred, or love (except for hot Jewish women, they grow some good ones there), for Jews, but the lengths the US goes to as a country both listening to them and enacting policies favorable to them is just plain...wrong. I will never understand why we do, I don't view them as any significant voting block that we as a nation should be worried about.

As far as ******head Ranch, I really could care less what some sign that's probably been there for decades says. Who gives a F? Take a trip over to Ford Heights or Chicago Heights in some of the shithole bars there and see what's written, and even worse openly said, about whites.

Here's a pro-tip for you all rushing to be outraged: Minorities are, easily, the most racist people you will ever run across. By far. The end.

For those whiteys out there, stop rushing to be a White Guilter, your peers of other ethnicities laugh at your stupidity and weakness, whether it's to your face or not.

It is regular speech where I live. Here in the rural south.

Yet you don't know words from meaning? Perhaps you should read Moonbeams comments in this thread. I learned from my grandfather that ******s have pride. He probably remembers that story and that man probably helped more ******s than you ever have. All you can see are the words and have no understanding. Hell, you can't even see the words but your mind will probably fill in the blanks quite well.

I heard people using it when I worked in the north/mid-west including New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, New York, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. True the term is heard more often in the south.

Keep in mind that the Jews are not the ones running Isreal. The Zionists are, and the Jews openly oppose them:

I was very lucky to have the grandparents I did. Although they were far away so I saw them a few weeks at a time I learned much from them. In a chaotic young life they were an immobile rock to cling to. Very lucky indeed.
