Funny, I thought that was the Democrats...after all, the Democrats like to keep the poor - poor so they can give them handouts and buy a voting base.

No wonder the Democrats win elections, 47% of households will pay ZERO federal income tax this year. Perfect chunk of the Democrat base who wants something for nothing and see an opportunity to vote them selves the fruits of others hard work.

Kind of hard to prove, no?

Why don't you go read the study?

Could it be that people who are so personally irresponsible to not buy health insurance are irresponsible with other aspects of their health???

YOU might want to read the study. The study clearly stated they were at a HIGHER RISK of death NOT that lack of insurance somehow killed them.

We are talking about Honest men vs. Tom Dooley scoundrels.

"Hang down your head, Tom Dooley
Hang down your head and cry
Hang down your head, Tom Dooley
Poor boy, you?re bound to die

I met her on the mountain, there I took her life
Met her on the mountain, stabbed her with my knife

Hang down your head, Tom Dooley
Hang down your head and cry (ah-uh-eye)
Hang down your head, Tom Dooley
Poor boy, you?re bound to die

This time tomorrow,
reckon where I?ll be
Hadn?t-a been for Grayson,
I?d-a been in Tennessee (well now, boy)"

In the grand scheme of things, I am not sure what planet the republicans are in, but I think its safe to say it ain't Tennessee or Kansas anymore. Like it or not, Greyson hit the nail on the head. Maybe rude, crude, and socially unacceptable to call the GOP position the rude, crude, and socially unacceptable position that it is.

Damn Mam GOP, the truth does hurt. But ain't that what Joe Friday always said, I just want the facts, nothing but the facts.

Good for Rep. Alan Grayson. We need more Congressmen like him.

We need someone who will continuously call the Republicans and their supporters morons and traitors for wanting to keep the current health care system and for opposing European-style national health care.

Yes, emergency care. If you survive then you are stuck with crippling debt for the rest of your life, or your family is, what a fantastic deal.

What if you want some dental work done, but since you can't afford it and by the time you show up at the ER its too late?

If you read the study, you should go read it again. You obviously didn't understand it the first time. Actually it would appear that you don't even seem to understand what the terms are. Higher risk across large populations is determined by the fact that they have measured HIGHER MORTALITY.

But hey, you're someone who can apparently barely read. I'm sure those know-it-alls at Harvard had it all wrong.

Dude, when a freaking broken wrist is considered a "pre-existing condition" by the moronic health care insurance corporations, you KNOW we have a broken system on our hands. Waving a blank piece of paper around in the air during Obama's speech and screaming "socialist" like a retarded monkey at a town hall meeting isn't going to begin to address this problem and the American people can clearly see that.

Yes.. saying Republicans want people to die quickly is a fact.. I guess its about as much of a fact as saying democrats want terrorists to live and get free healthcare and kill innocent people.

People are dying right now, every 12 minutes someone dies from a lack of insurance, Republicans do not want reform, they want to kill every single proposal, that is standing up for the status quo, the status quo is KILLING PEOPLE RIGHT NOW.

You simply cannot grasp what is occurring.

And yet the democrats did not bring up healthcare for the past 8 years. People are DYING every 12 minutes because of the lack of healthcare and they don't EVEN TRY to bring up a bill? Even when they controlled both houses of congress?!

The democrat plan won't even take effect for a few years.. WHY ARE THE DEMOCRATS KILLING AMERICANS?!?!

Democrat plan: Die slowly so we can continue to vote democratic and we'll just keep extending the issue out for decades without passing anything.

This is what you've got as a retort? The official GOP strategy for healthcare is to slow it down until it dies, you have not read any of the memos? They're out there, go look for yourself.

They are PROUD of it.

Your argument is now since any plan won't do everything, immediately that it's not worth doing, wow that is stupefying.

I said nothing about a plan doing everything. I said the democrats have done NOTHING. We have 44,000 people a year dying because of the lack of insurance and they have done NOTHING.. not even a small bill to try to help. They want EVERYTHING and until they get it Americans can keep dying as far as they are concerned.

Holy shit at the projection. You're describing the Republican party.

Die quickly children.

Most states already offer a child health insurance program. Why put implement a redundant costly program at the federal level?

Maybe because 11% of children in this country aren't covered by either private or public insurance. Of course they are probably just to stupid and lazy to earn it for themselves.

More like their parents are too lazy/stupid to get it.

Ergo, their children deserve to suffer for it. Big heart you got there.

Really? They give radiation treatments in the ER? They give chemo in the ER? Really?

My friends mother was instrumental at getting dental insurance covered on Massachusetts state insurance plan. The reason they added it is because studies found that routine dentist work like a yearly checkup will cut cost over time because of issues like that one.

The value of labor is equal regardless of the skill set required to do the work.

Didn't you get the memo?

Regardless of what skill set you may or may not have everybody gets one vote, so put that in your pipe and smoke on it for a while.

Now shall we divide up the vote like we do the health care, more for the smart people and less for the dumb ones? How long do you think it would be till we had a full blown revolution on our hands?

You can only get so much water out of a well no matter how fast you puimp it and that's the way people's minds are. No matter how hard they try they only can give so much, but is that reason to deny them enough food to live on? Of course not, so how can one justify these same people doing without adequate health care?

The GOP is shitting all over itself so bad on this issue it's shameful, but remember, these are the same idiots that voted in Bush, not once but TWICE!!!!

Possibly you could show me how Bush and the GOP paid for the Big Pharma Part D giveaway? Or how they paid for the 2001 & 2003 tax cuts?

I look forward to seeing your answer.

How is the government going to promote the general welfare as it says in the Constitution if not by taxes where dollars are what it takes.

Where did we go wrong where it became acceptable for a man to make a living off another mans work?

This is what is wrong. Not who does or does not have insurance, but believing one deserves the work of another.

Blah blah blah, your point presupposes that everyone works at a level playing field where they get the true value of their labor, which is obviously untrue. Save the Ayn Randian crap, she was a terrible author and a bad philosopher.

Outside of supply and demand, the very basis of the free market, how do you determine the true value of labor? I'd love to hear this.

Still waiting for an answer.

Seriously. It's just like public schools. They aren't my kids, let their parents pay for them! Veterans Health Administration? So people who aren't smart enough for college join the military and get the best health system in the country on our dime? We need to put a stop to this outrage.

The appeal to emotional reason tends to fall squarely on its ass faced with the realities of abuse and laziness thats found in our current system.

Why should we help out anyone who has absolutely no desire to help themselves, and in fact views the "government cheese" as a RIGHT which is OWED to them?

No shit, the 08 elections should tell you that the republican play book is obsolete
