Ok help convince me I’m wrong, why wouldn’t it be a good idea?
You're the one suggesting we change, therefore it's your obligation to convince us of the benefits of the way you want it, not vice-versa. Have at it.

It is the duty and responsibility of the members of Congress to make sure the government doesn't waste our tax money. That's an internal part of our federal government setup. To argue that $5,000,000,000 isn't that much money and it is necessary to make our narcissistic current minority President feel better and therefore Congress should abdicate their Constitutional responsibilities and judgment is absurd.
If UC and others really want this wall then go to gofundme page and spend your money on it, not ours. I'm sure it would make Trump happy-so long as the Trump Wall is built with someone else's monies.
BTW it's not just Democrats that oppose this foolish wall. There are many GOP officials that think it's a dumb idea as well. Whether they have the guts to stand up to Trump's pressure and tweets remains to be seen. Congressional GOP has been weaker than the German parliament was during Hitler's rise to dictatorship.
There is no mention of the Wall in that article. You're conflating the issues.
oops. The article does have the linked poll: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByVu4fDHYJgVTHVnZjg5R0JXQmxVNi1la0IzX1o2X0RTZ09j/view

This is where your thinking is a total failure. You think that conservatives in general aren't capable of intelligent, independent thought. Meanwhile, the left is a bastion of proper thinking and intelligence. As I've mentioned many times, right wing propaganda has taken a terrible toll on conservative headsets. Absolutely terrible. They believe in a lot of things that aren't true.
I agree. I never used the word "most". Thanks for the wall of text though.^^^That "poll" on the google drive is over 5 months old.
Most Americans do not believe that the "wall" is a priority.
Here's a recent poll: Nov 28th -Dec 4th

Most Americans do not want the wall. Period.

I never said you referred to most. I was just being more accurate with public opinion than you linking to a June poll.I agree. I never used the word "most". Thanks for the wall of text though.

What was the point of your oops post again?I agree. I never used the word "most". Thanks for the wall of text though.
I guess following a thread isn't your strong suit. I was responding to Thumps out about the responsibilities of Congress, and I politely reminded him it's their responsibility to honor the wishes of their constituents, many of which want a wall. What was the point of your oops post again?

This is why people like you are irrelevant.
Random crazies on the internet don't hit my nerves (same is true of you I suppose). It is entertaining though!Did I hit a nerve? Conservatives are entirely capable of those things when they care to be, just like all of us. They get astroturfed & manipulated, a lot, by insincere people who know just how to push their buttons. They have blind spots. They often have really shitty attitudes about the rest of America, thanks to Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter & a whole panoply of pampered right wing pitch men who DGAF about them or the rest of us. Crap sells, and the talking heads they listen to know it better than anybody.
Using old data?I guess following a thread isn't your strong suit. I was responding to Thumps out about the responsibilities of Congress, and I politely reminded him it's their responsibility to honor the wishes of their constituents, many of which want a wall.

You say that like "standing up" for it would change the outcome. You know better. That's entirely circular as it applies to the current situation. Our GOP congress sent Trump a bill that did not include wall funding, compromising with Dems because they didn't want a shutdown, or at least not one they'd have to own. When Trump vetoes it, they don't even stand up for themselves or the functioning of the govt they serve, apparently cuz they's skeered of the toddler in chief. As soon as they can put it off on the Dems, they give it the old college try, as if it really is something beyond their control.
You dissmissed someone who provided you more updated relevent data with a thanks for the wall of text smart ass remark. So where do you personally come down on the wall? Do you think it is a waste of frunds and ineffective?
You say that like "standing up" for it would change the outcome. You know better.
You are aware that the filibuster no longer exists, right?
What bills were passed without needing a 60 vote majority?
It is the duty and responsibility of the members of Congress to make sure the government doesn't waste our tax money.
