He also revealed the alleged whistleblower's name in a press conference OUTSIDE the Senate chamber after Robert's refused to read the question.

and nothing will be done about that either

Wishing the law would hold Paul accountable is merely the gentleman's agreement. At some point we see their lawlessness and raise the stakes with some of our own.

The Fn nerve of the F, Mitch to start with "this is partisan" argument.

His speech makes a lot of sense if you realize everything he is saying is mere projection on his part. He’s not telling us what democrats are doing, he’s telling us what he and the republicans are doing.

I gave up. I found mute is my friend. I just bought the TV a month ago.
Finally done.

Senate republicans are making a HUGE MISTAKE which they will regret. THIS is their chance to rid themselves of the intimidation and bulling from Donald Trump. All they need to do is to vote to remove and Trump would be gone!
And republicans would be bullied no more.

I think they kind of like it. It's what they would do if they had the power.

A lot of people said GOP was making a big mistake nominating Trump in 2016, similarly a lot of people said GOP is making a big mistake continuing to align themselves with Trump after election, and now, a lot of people are saying GOP is making a huge mistake acquiting Trump. There may come a time when sticking with Trump will come back to haunt them, but sadly till now it's been a winning strategy for them. While I personally would like to believe that it will ultimately backfire, I also would not dare to make any kind of prediction of when that would happen.

Even if Trump is removed in 2020, there are too few Senator seats up for reelection, it's quite likely that GOP will keep the Senate in 2020 effectively blocking any Democrat legislative agenda. GOP will then use the following 2 years to distance themselves from Trump and come back strong for 2022 midterms/2024 elections. They'll deploy their usual propaganda tools and ride the resentment of 2020 presidential loss into the future elections. Frankly, this is going to be the best thing to happen to GOP, and one path would allow them to survive as a party beyond 2020. I fear this scenario. A lot.

So contrary to what Lindsey promised. No this was not a bipartisan acquittal. I wonder if he will have to do penance.

Why not just vote him out in november? seems a much easier approach to handle such an aweful president and human being?

So far the only one with real guts is Doug Jones. He's not acquitting. I guess Machin feels safe in the crowd. Sure thought he was going to waffle also, we will see. Not that any of this really matters.

I've heard of people espousing disdain for Jones today due to his vote. Honestly... I kind of forgot that he was even in the senate.

Because we (used to) have laws in this country that hold people accountable to their crimes. At least half of Congress was performing its constitutional duty in exercising its power to deal with an unquestionably criminal president (if what we are going by is evidence, of which there remains a metric shit-ton, publicly available, and even including plain admissions from the fat fuck Orange Shit himself).

Again, consider that an article of impeachment levied against Trump was for trying to fix the very election that he is facing. ...so if he is allowed to fix the election (which he is doing), how is depending on that election to end his criminal empire any sort of valid option?

How is this even allowed and acceptable? How the fuck can anyone with half a brain support these dumb fucks?

Kudos to Romney (and Manchin and other embattled Dems) for accomplishing the one thing they could—denying Donald Trump a bipartisan acquittal in the Senate, and ensuring the vote to remove Donald Trump was bipartisan.

The next few days we’ll learn how triggered Trump was because of this, and how his thirst for revenge will be quenched or extinguished by his inner circle.

Hopefully that is what happens. But the framers put impeachment into the constitution as the ultimate check on the kinds of abuses of power Trump has demonstrated he has no problem performing. It isn't like the party in charge of the executive branch would change if Trump had been convicted today. Pence would have been POTUS and a new VP would have been selected.

The really sad thing is we've heard for years now how many GOP members of the House and Senate are privately disgusted with Trump and believe him unsuitable for the office but they are unwilling to speak publicly about it because he owns the GOP's base at this point and they are afraid of being primaried out of office. His continued time in office is a direct result of cowardice on the part of the GOP to deal with their own problem.

Would you say the same if Trump send a classified executive order that the executive branch must rig every vote in the upcoming election for him and his party?
Is the solution just vote him out?
Voting only works if elections are fair and people have faith in them.

He beat the pedophile. It's Alabama. And he's a democrat.
My gut tells me people will be seriously pissed and it'll bite the GOP in the ass.

We all know people we care about who have gone to jail or been involved in the legal system. For president trump to have gotten a trial where no witnesses were called, that I don't think will sit well with the average American who's family member is in prison because of unfair trials in the other direction.
