He also revealed the alleged whistleblower's name in a press conference OUTSIDE the Senate chamber after Robert's refused to read the question.

and nothing will be done about that either

While that's true, basically anything a legislator does that's reasonably associated with their official job is immune from prosecution or even civil suits.

Something similar happened a few years back where a marine tried to sue a congressman for his statements to the press:

Murtha, a former Marine, used his congressional immunity as his defense, arguing that he made those statements to the press in his official capacity as a member of Congress. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia on Tuesday ruled that Wuterich can't sue Murtha.

I completely agree with you that Rand Paul is a garbage human and should face consequences for his actions here but sadly they would need to be electoral or come from Congress itself and I doubt either the Senate or Paul's constituents have the necessary moral fiber to stand up for what's right.

Thanks for explanation

Susan Collins - She believes the president has learned a "pretty big lesson" from impeachment and will be "much more cautious" about seeking foreign assistance in the future.

Suuuure he will be more "cautious" "I wish she was my mother when I was a toddler.

When he was asked about Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) saying he had learned a lesson during impeachment, the president said he’d done nothing wrong: “It was a perfect call.”

Gee, poor Susan Collins has been hoodwinked again! Just like when she 'traded' her vote for the Republican tax bill for votes on increasing funding to the ACA (never happened) or when she was convinced that the FBI investigation into Kavanaugh was 'thorough' (it was a scam) or now in this case where she's sure Trump learned 'a big lesson' (he publicly says he's learned nothing).

I hope at this point everyone realizes that Susan Collins is playing a game here where she pretends to be moderate and then votes in lockstep with the GOP. It's either that or she's a moron who keeps getting fooled by her GOP colleagues over and over and over again. I guess it doesn't really matter if she's a party line hack or a moderate who happens to be incredibly stupid, either way she should lose her seat.

She is a hack and the starch in her shirt is stiffer than her spine.

When SC says Trump will be "much more cautious" does that mean don't get caught?

We lucky that he surrounds himself with dummies who can't actually do stuff the right, the worst people both in character and in doing their jobs.

I wish that were entirely true. The people who put together his SOTU performance are brilliant propagandists. Mind fuck Supremo.

Wow. Romney actually taking his job and oath of office seriously.
Hey, Mitt Romney actually stood up for what is right.

Looks like we have at least one Republican who took their oath to the country seriously.
Mitt is the only Senator in history to vote to remove a president of his own party. That's an interesting footnote for the books.
Because he knows it does not matter. If he was a swing vote he would have acquitted.

Good for Mitt, although it's too little too late. Will be interesting to see how his piece of shit niece will spin this.

It just occurred to me that the DNC missed out on a golden opportunity. As long as they were selling out the debate rules, they could have changed them to permit anyone that votes to remove Trump, regardless of party lines :p

The same is true for every other Republican senator, including ones in states where they need to appeal to Democrats to win. And yet, he was the only one.
So far the only one with real guts is Doug Jones. He's not acquitting. I guess Machin feels safe in the crowd. Sure thought he was going to waffle also, we will see. Not that any of this really matters.

Manchin also isn't up for re-election until 2024. Doug Jones though, that took balls. Then again Jones is probably screwed no matter what he does so at least he's going down doing the right thing.
