If it's possible, seems to me the Repubs are going to play the middle road in the end by censuring Trump to appease the moderates and independents while ceaselessly claiming (*Barr, your turn to pop your fat head back up) that Trump was completely exonerated of all accusations and should be reelected.

Good luck with that.

Jay seckulo is all over the place. He’s also taking quotes grossly out of context.

You’ll note that he isn’t even bothering to attempt to defend trumps actions.

They have no defense, which has been the case since this has started. So basically, nothing has changed.

I worry for the future of American politics if the Republicans permit Trump to get away with his behavior. I also worry for the future of American politics if they don't vote to convict, get their names put down on paper legitimizing his behavior, get predictably vilified by the non-Republicans, and live a life of overt anger and shame resulting in even more caustic policy decisions.
I think it is a stretch to think the GOP will be vilified by non-Republicans. Anyone who hasn't been voting straight Democrat for the last 20 years is either completely oblivious to anything politics or is so anti-liberal that they just don't care how bad Republicans are.

Regarding oblivious, it's hard to imagine at this point anyone doesn't know what's happening (even if it's incorrect) unless they live in a cave, but maybe I'm just tainting my own world view.

These guys are the epitome of all those lawyer jokes and why people hate lawyers.

This is some of shittiest defense I’ve ever heard.
His current defense is Democrats are trying to remove Trump from the 2020 ballot, I guess.

Still have a hard-on for that 'overturning a democratic election' I see.

I've reached the point of utter contempt for all the assholes who enable Trump at this point. Trump is mentally broken and pretty much incapable of telling the truth. This makes him unfit for the office he holds but is at least a tiny excuse for his behavior. The fuckers like Seckulo who choose to lie on his behalf are much worse.

History will not remember them kindly, assuming it isn't revised...

Know something else I can't help but notice? You can tell how thin the defense is given how little material the Republican side has to work with. (R's on the right)

Defense of what? Trump did no wrong, and Democrats lie.
^ That is the Republican thinking in a nutshell.

This isn't simply a "behavior permitted". It goes far beyond that. It is a schism in reality, in agreeable facts, truth, and decorum. The two halves of America are completely devoid of familiarity and kinship with one another. It is a cold civil war just waiting for a spark.

Impeachment?
You'd have better luck getting North Korea to allow Kim to go on trial for crimes against humanity by South Korea. Same level of division.

Worth noting, it's not halves. There are vastly more people in touch with reality than there are on team Trump/GOP/crime.

Trump's lawyers are terrible.
I'm not sure what all this debate about witnesses is or whether the House rushed. It should seem that the Senate would want to get all the "relevant" information as possible. Has the Senate even investigated this themselves? Just odd arguments.
