Trump's lawyers are terrible.
I'm not sure what all this debate about witnesses is or whether the House rushed. It should seem that the Senate would want to get all the "relevant" information as possible. Has the Senate even investigated this themselves? Just odd arguments.
Doesn't matter if they're actually horrible, so long as they can get a soundbite good enough to play on Fox News in the absence of context their job is done.

I have zero illusion that these arguments are going to sway witness amendment vote in any way. It's not going to happen. However, putting Republican Senators on record with this vote still has value in the upcoming elections.

What a shit show ... now if Trump manages to stay on the "throne" past 2024, Russia will actually have a superior governing body to the US.

It might seem that the Senate would want to get all the relevant information possible but that would presume that they are actually interested in whether or not Trump is guilty, which they are not.

So the first amendment to subpoena white house document just tabled along party lines. Second amendment to subpoena state department documents will be voted on after recess and surely will be tabled along party lines again. Sad to see this happening, but at least it's good to get Senators votes on record.

"Look, we're having a trial. We're not allowing any evidence to be presented or any witnesses to testify, but we're having a trial!"

Fucking joke.

In a just world, this partisan hack job of a trial would be all that McGrath needs to decimate Turtle in November (that and the fact that he does literally nothing for Kentucky).

But it's not, so....

Good luck with that.

Well I am hoping that Trump gets his ass kicked out of office in the most humiliating fashion via impeachment with the Dems immediately going after Pence in the same way thereafter. However, given that the Repubs have shown their hand as being willing to violate in blatant fashion the oaths of impartiality they just took, it just seemed to me that most Repubs being mindful of how bad they look being that way would try to find some way to keep the sympathetic moderates and independents on their side of the divide by sidestepping their convicting Trump in order to appease Trump's base.

Trump and McConnell are of the same species of vermin given how they are both devoid of morals and ethics and are willing to break any law, violate any constitutional restraints put on them to keep both of them in check. That right there would be above any other thing the reason why our state of the union is in such disarray.

Do you think the people who will be cheering when Trump gets away with this shit also think OJ is innocent?

I'm trying to imagine their brains and how poorly they must function.

I keep thinking "ditch the Mitch" would be a great campaign slogan. People seem to like jokes, amiright? Or would Kentucky republicans complain about how uncivilized that is?

I'm fairly impressed with the Dems thus far, doing the best they can despite the constrictions of traitors like Moscow Mitch.

The repugs are sticking true to form. Whine, bitch, moan, and lie away without a single piece of exculpatory evidence. Trump's crimes and their power are more important than our democracy and Constitution.

Traitors to the Constitution 2020
sounds like a counterproductive strategy for November, but that's where the GOP is now. Republicans in office cause too much shame and damage to our nation, I hope millennials and younger learn this well.

"Ditch Mitch" was tried back in the 90s. Mitch campaigns on eternally saving Fort Campbell from the closure which would surely happen if Mitch were ever tossed back in the gutter.

I don't know if sekulo is purposely trying to be the shittiest lawyer ever or if Schiff is just that good but the defense is getting destroyed!

Been at the F'n dentist all day, and what's the first thing I see when I get home, one of the most ill at ease, incompetent acting lawyers I have ever seen. You go Sekulo.

But it's meaningless when the jury pool is rigged.

It does matter because it's showing the American people who actually cares about this country and not just about themselves. It shows Democrats doing their duty and Republicans no doing their duty.

It won't make an ounce of difference in the outcome of the impeachment trial but it will make a difference in 2020.
