another moron here.

That is where you are wrong. The act of going slow in the left lane does NOT put others at risk. YOUR reaction to someone going slow is what puts others at risk. Don't believe me? The nest time you get in an accident solely because you had to pass someone on the right, try to make that argument.

"It's not my fault! He was the proximate cause because he was going the speed limit! I HAD to whip around him and lose control/cut that other guy off!"

Just try not to take it personally when you get laughed out of court.

i never said anything about accidents in my post, no clue why you rambled on about it.

why not ask him to pull over people speeding? It's illegal and puts other people at risk. Me driving the speed limit is SAFE and puts nobody at risk. I drive the speed limit no matter what lane I'm in. The fast lane doesn't magically have a higher speed limit. I don't get how breaking the law is okay when it suits the person doing it. breaking a law is breaking a law, there should be no argument. if you guys want to break the law, that's fine. I'm not going to police traffic, but if I end up in the "fast" lane due to traffic I'm not going 1mph over 65, deal with it.

I'm not forcing anyone to pass me, and I'm not making a single person have to break the law. If they chose to speed, that's their own doing. And if they're in an accident because they make a choice to speed, that's 100% on them. If I'm doing 65 (the limit) and some asshat zooms around me and causes an accident, that's all on him.

Speeding is very rarely the cause of accidents.

I bet speeding is a factor in many accidents, and speeding + an accident is ALWAYS worse than the same accident with no speeding involved.

so why not move over to the right lane and go the speed limit out of common courtesy to everyone else on the road, instead of being selfish and holding up the cars behind you that want to go around you because you think you are the law?

no need to try and save yourself, you have already declared yourself a moron.

Why should I be courteous to law breakers? Maybe I should be courteous to a person trying to break into my car and help him? Nope. I'd rather be a moron who abides by the laws, thanks.

Try being courteous to the flow of traffic. And since when do you have the internationally accepted speed measuring device installed in you vehicle?

Your Starbucks will still taste the same with you being 1 lane over to the right.

Just one more note before I retire this thread...

If you're driving and ONE person look at you funny or angry, perhaps he's just an ass. If MANY people are looking at you funny or angry over their left shoulders, perhaps take into consideration that "I may be an asshat".

That's all.

That begs the question of "Do asshats know that they are asshats?"

I think it is ironic that a speeder who breaks the law and has shown no regard for traffic laws quotes another traffic law to get his way.

If you choose to ignore the legal speed limit, then someone else can just as easily choose to ignore the left lane for passing only. Neither one is being courteous.

Who decides which laws are alright to break and which to follow?

Be courteous to a person who might crash into my car due to their speeding? If people went the speed limit and kept a decent distance between them and the car in front of them. The number of accidents would drop a huge amount. I actually don't like people who make it less safe for me to drive the speed limit. And that would be everyone who speeds. If you're going 65 like me, there's no possible way you could rear end me, so long as you keep going the legal limit like I do. Throw a person who thinks laws don't apply to them into the picture, I got a person who very well might rear end me.

This line confuses me.

I think everyone has the 'internationally accepted speed measuring device' installed... we like to call it a speedometer.

that is by far the most complex term I have ever heard used to describe a speedometer. I'd love to hear what their job title is.

It's funny because I know the dudes above claiming to be lane blockers would be moving to the right as fast as possible should anyone but an old lady get behind them.

Another fact is it's far more dangerous to be going 15MPH less than traffic than more than it. There is a big reason third brake lights were added...people have a hard time judging when another car is moving much slower or even stopped in front of them.

Reality Check: People speed.

Rather than complaining about people who don't think the laws apply to them and whether or not you should be courteous, accept the reality that our roads are driven on by people who will freely speed, and while they may not be making the road any safer, you're making the road even more unsafe by making a decision "not" to be courteous to them. What is the word for lack of courtesy?

Now, how about you assholes that pull up on my rear when I'm in the far right lane and there's three open lanes to your left? How about you assholes move the fuck over? I sure as hell can't move any further to the right and I'm not going to speed up. Oh and I'm not driving below the speed limit btw, I'm usually going 5+ mph above the posted limit. And this is in the FAR RIGHT LANE and I still get jerkoffs that ride my bumper.

Just take your foot off the gas and gradually get to the speed limit and then even drift a few MPH below. They should pass you then.

Don't you just hate it when parents allow their kids to play, walk, or ride bicycles on, or near residential streets? It forces you to slow down to nearly 40mph driving through these neighborhoods, always having look out for those damn kids. These inconsiderate parents really need to show some common courtesy, and keep their kids indoors, or in the back yard.

The discussion was about freeways. Nobody here is advocating speeding in residential neighborhoods. People who blast through neighborhoods are reckless assholes and I'm an advocate for double, triple, quadruple and even 10x the penalty on speeding tickets if they occur in a residential neighborhood. I.E., town road bordered by R zoning on both sides.

Yea, RUNZ, your post is borderline trolling. It has nothing to do with the discussion about left lane passing rights on freeways and highways. You realize your post is worthless to the discussion, right?

1. If you are driving and are constantly getting passed on the right side of your car, GET THE F**K OVER!
2. If you are driving in the left lane and all of a sudden there is a line of cars on your bumper, GET THE F**K OVER!
2.1 If you are driving in the left lane and all of a sudden there is a line of cars on your bumper, BUT you are passing cars to the right of you, it is okay to stay in the left lane with people on your bumper until you have passed all of the cars in the right lane, but once you have passed all cars to the right of you, GET THE F**K OVER!

You morons who do not know these rules and don't follow them, no need to thank me, as this is a public service announcement.

I support this PSA, without the profanity.

Dickscarfery :p

Unfortunately, those with small penises could never have their penises used as a dickscarf

Yet those same "penor-challenged" people insist on tailgaiting me when I'm dawdling along in the "fast" lane...yet going faster than those in the middle or right lane.
"Relax and smell the coffee pal...I'll get over when I get over...not until. If you flash your lights at me, I'm likely to turn on my emergency flashers...and slow down to the posted limit just to piss you off." :p
