and how is he doing that?

He's calling the press destructive. The press has long been viewed as the watchdog of government and the reason why Obama is so bothered by Fox is because they are watching him and exposing him. Dear leader doesn't want that and views it as destructive. It's the same old typical behavior of every dictator that has ever been in office, they can't help themselves, it's what they are and how they think.

Yes, yes. All opposing views to the messiah must be silenced. I have no illisions about Fox; you watch them, you know what you're getting. But people who rail on Fox and then suck up whatever bilge that the rest of the MSM spews out are pathetic. They're everything they claim to hate.

I agree.

I think 'King' Obama is getting in a grey area close to violating the tenents of the Freedom of the Press. Making these remarks as civilian? Fine. Making these remarks as President (official gov capacity), not so much. And because his criticism is over the disagreement of policy this surely looks like an offcial gov attack on Fox.

So Obama doesn't like Fox because it pushes different policies? Too Effing bad.

What you Lefties be saying if a Repub President was (officially) bashing CNN or MSNBC?

Fern

Republican elected officials have never "officially" bashed a media outlet before? I don't imagine I'd have to look too hard to find more ore less EXACTLY what you're talking about coming from the right...

And do you really think President Obama making a COMMENT (not pushing policy, etc) violates the first amendment?

Because lord knows what Republicans would never stoop so low as to bash the media, eh?

I don't recall any President, ever, bashing an entire channel like that. If you've got an example I'll be happy to look at it.

You brought up the Constitution/1st Amendment, not me. Look harder at my post, you won't find it mentioned.

Editorializing and infotainment is nothing new...started sometime in the 80s and has just gotten worse. Fox tells you how to think but so does CNN, CNBC and the rest. But Glenn Beck I think will be first on air suicide is why I watch.

Considering he quoted Spidey and not you, I think the 1st amendment reference was a rebuttal to spidey's comment earlier.

Obama is expressing his first amendment rights, by speaking what he believes to be the truth about fox news. He has every right to do so, just like how the people at fox news have the right to say what they want to say.

Lots of people describe fox news using only strings of 4 letter words. The president was actually rather reserved and "nice" in his wording.
Have you ever seen any of the filth that Fox tries to pass off as news? Destructive is pretty much a compliment!

Lots of people describe Obama using only 4 letter words as well. I'll use a 7 letter word to describe him though because I am smarter than them:

But not the way Obama constantly rails on fox. He's running scared because they are exposing him and his policies. What's the first thing any dictator does? Controls the press. It's very clear that's what obama really wants, but that damned Constitution keeps getting in his way.

You're beyond lame- you're pathologically afflicted.

Faux News' parent corporation is funding some of the most radical republican candidates out there, and you claim they can keep bias out of their coverage?

Consider the idea that just because they're telling you what you want to hear doesn't mean it's honest news coverage, or that it's anything close to the truth.

I made no such claim. Only claiming that fox is the only news network exposing obama's policies and motives.

Remember, Obama can't stand any criticism of him. Emperor has no clothes kinda syndrome.

Lame. You don't express curtail of rights you are sworn to defend. Especially against a group in obvious opposition, what the very right was created for in the first place. Make you look cheap and lame.

So what you're saying is that what they represent to be news isn't unbiased news at all, but rather opinion you agree with.

Got it.

Their actual news is very fair and balanced. The only time I listen to it is on XM radio and all sides are usually presented.

Excuse me, but Obama didn't curtail their rights in the slightest. They're still making billions broadcasting lies. He just pointed out that they are lies.

Don't try to paint this like Chavez seizing TV stations in Venezuela, OK?

He is restrained from that but it's obvious where his heart is at. Not on side of freedom of press. I said the same thing about Bush cordoning off liberal outlets to Siberia and soldier photos or non photos.

Yeh, kinda like raving rightwing hatchet job and hatchet job minus the raving- fair and balanced, right?

There's nothing neutral about Faux News presentation, ever.

You wouldn't know fair and balanced if you were married to it.

Just for the record. Obama thinks Fox is "destructive" but thinks msnbc pushing progressive bias is doing a "valuable service".

Yep, no problems there. :rolleyes; Oh, and fuck Obama.

Standard rightwing methodology. When the facts don't support your previous statement, resort to false attribution and innuendo.

I mean, you just *know* you're right, kinda like spidey, because if you weren't, you'd have to question what you believe in the first place, right?

So lets assume that fox is an extension of the GOP. Does it worry you that they are attracting so many viewers? What does this say about left leaning new sources and how the general population feels about them?
