So Obama can't comment on the wisdom of the Ground Zero Mosque but apparently CAN comment on the wisdom of Fox News. I guess we know who are the terrorists in his mind.

So he does not comment on what a religious organization should do, and does comment on a bought and paid for political propaganda organization attacking him daily. And?

Your interpretation is unsurprisingly idiotic, and generally is best ignored but every once in a while, maybe it's useful to remind that's the case.

What's next, Obama doesn't comment on who the next leader of a religious group should be, and does criticize John Boehner. The shock!

All Cable News Stations in their current form which is Sensationalist are bad for the political climate in this country. The advent of CNN was the start and Faux Noise just ramped it up about ten notches.

Fox News is garbage, but it isn't really wise for Obama to say so. All it will do is support the portrayal of him that they've been pushing since before he was even elected, which is that Obama is going to steal your guns, take Rush Limbaugh and Fox News off the air (or force equal time), and recruit your children into a terrorist organization. Now Fox News can say "Look, we were right!" and their paranoid viewers will soak it up.

On the other hand, their viewers weren't going to vote for him (or probably any other Democrat) anyway, so no big loss.

I think it's useful for him to say this. Otherwise, too many ignorant people assume otherwise. Not that most Fox viewers will agree, but he's on the record.

I appreciate Obummer's attacks on the free media, it helps make it clear that he only supports a 'free' press when it adores him and heaps him with adulation and praise. It helps show the average voter what his true beliefs are. Instead of just fox and a few other outlets pointing it out, he spreads the message himself, very helpful.

Anxiously awaiting the President's declaration that beer companies, tobacco companies and porn distributors are 'destructive'.

How long should I hold my breath???

Also holding my breath for the president to declare that MSNBC is "destructive" to America. Yeah, that will happen.....

For them to be as destructive as Faux Noise they'd at least need to have an auduience.

Extremism in it's reactionary form foxnews brings to the table is anything but promoting public discourse. It creates its own facts and convenient realities to blur the line of public discourse and self-serving corporate propaganda.

Foxnews to rational people is nothing more then a GOP 24/7 commercial or biased pro-wrestling match.

I've watched CNN and I've watched MSNBC and as far as I'm concerned they're no better. TV news sucks - period. It's all hype and tripe. Internet blog sites are even worse. And people on the left are no better at wher the majority of them get their news, so spare me the self-righteous indignation.

btw, if you take all the foxnews and talk radio watchers in one day, even on their biggest news days is no more then 5% of the US population.

May very well be true, but considering that Fox has the highest rating of cable news (and given that the newspaper industry in the US is dying), this implies that the vast majority of the public is totally tuned out. That disturbs me far more than this thread does.

True. But what his words and attitude are doing is driving motivation to stop him WAY HIGH. And in mid-term elections that motivation is a huge deciding factor on outcome. Why do you think he's flying all over the country trying to tell apathetic dems/progressives they need to do something? Because right now the motivation of this entire nation is to stop Obama.

A sitting president calling free speech destructive to america says a lot about what he really thinks of this country and our liberty. If it was just a "I mispoke" moment then sure let it slide, but it is a continuation of his utter arrogant disdain for this country and our freedoms.

I've always suspected Obama was an idiot and got into Columbia (as a tranfser from Occidental College) and Harvard Law through affirmative Action. I bet he barely got 1100 on the old SAT and 150 on the LSAT.
Jealousy is such an evil emotion.

Bwahahaha! You can't make this crap up. Obama thinks MSNBC provides valuable service because it focuses on progressive values. What a piece of shit we have in the white house. I always get a laugh when people he's not the most liberal president of modern times.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_upsho...ouse-spox-praises-msnbc-hosts-after-fox-swipe

"And if you're on the left, if you're somebody like Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow or one of the folks who helps to keep our government honest and pushes and prods to make sure that folks are true to progressive values," Burton continued, "then he thinks that those folks provide an invaluable service. But at the same time, we need to focus our energy and our efforts on the choice that Americans have this fall."

Burton said that, not Obama.

Read the article. He was speaking for the president. This is the same old trip from liberals - free speech is good, unless you disagree with me. Also make sure to read the comments, you can just feel the hatred people have for Obama.

Surprise, surprise. The president finds free speech destructive. Silly liberal thinks free speech is fine as long as you agree with him.

Pretty much. He and other liberals are just upset that Fox News doesn't suck obama's dick every day like CNN, MSNBC, ABC, and CBS. Though ABC is getting better and is actually doing critical pieces on the Obama Admin.

I find it very dangerous when we have a president attacking the 1st amendment, VERY DANGEROUS.

Well according to our Failure in Chief we can 'absorb' another terrorist like 9/11 but apparently we can't survive Fox News.

The president should not be in the business of criticizing media outlets, especially ones that don't agree with him. It just makes him look like a whiner...

He should have bigger fisher to fry than the discussing Fox News...

When the intention of fascist racists like yourself is to take over the country by creating an army of brown shirted marching morons, it would be natural you'd find it dangerous. You can't yell fire in a theater and you shouldn't be able to spout lies to millions of angry people. It is the same thing. All TV should be mandated to have at least two voices presenting any issue, left and right.

The "Liberal Media" was not just a mantra, but an attack on the Free Press as well.
