<< Yeah that's it, SC. I think MB's new plant is in Abalama😉 >>

OK, I think we need to tone down the quotes😉

Anyway, I belive that most of Toyota's vehicles are made here including the Tacoma, Tundra, Avalon, Sienna, and Solara. I know that the Highlander is partially assembled in Japan and then is finally assembled here in the U.S.

So let's see...Japanese car makers build their cars here in the US with the same US workers. Something tells me that there is something fundamentally wrong with domestic engineering/research/production/design when it comes to cars.

LMAO.. this thread is commical..

Hmm.. BP has spoken.

Yep, you heard it here folks. All those Hondas and Toyotas being assembled here are really American cars.

Is it a conspiracy? The world may never know...

😀

Why is that?
>>

Because what started out as a troll thread turned into a discussion about the nationality of cars. Humorous if you step back and read. 🙂

Because bigdude got smacked around with a large trout. 😉

I agree with pretty much everybody else. I seriously doubt I will ever buy an American vehicle, unless its a classic(30s - 60s). But that wouldn't be a daily driver, anyway.

I think it's hard for Americans, with our greed-driven economy.. to build things that will last a long time. I mean, sure.. we can do it. But why don't we?

The Japanese, on the other hand, seem take pride in building things that have a long lifespan.

I don't think "Made in America" really means anything anymore. Does it?

Let's see, 80k in 3 years, That's 26k/year. Quite a bit. Isn't the average like 15k/year?

Hmm.. My girlfriends mom's 1983 Toyota Camry LE has 215k on it. That averages out to about 11k/year. Interesting..

She's not the original owner, but it still runs great. We've put about 15,000 miles on it in the last 3 months - going back and forth between Port Angeles, WA and Portland, OR .. it adds up fast.

Her engine seems to be pretty strong, It's the automatic transmission I seem to be kinda worried about. She's always been good about changing the oil, but she's had the car for like 3 years and has never done anything but make sure the transmission fluid is topped off. Better than not checking it at all, but it's supposed to be changed every 30,000 miles. :Q

What are the signs of an auto starting to die? lol..

Oh, hehe. I tried my best to bitch slap him with the J.D. Power results😉

I raced a GrandPrix GTP with my Honda Odyssey today.

She never pulled too far ahead of me. Granted, we have the same horsepower, though she had ~15% more torque

She? hehe....

also, I must comment..

<< Just made a trip where a 75mph cruise got me 31mpg on 87 octane. >>

As if the octane rating has anything to do with his MPG.. :Q

<< Can't wait to get my new company car, it's a Pontiac Aztec, should be in by next month. >>

Haahahahahahaha. Are you serious? If I were given the keys to an Aztek I would total it the first chance I got.

Hey, SHE looked like a tough SHE, at least 🙂 How many chicks drive a black GTP AND try to race a minivan???

It doesn't, it's just Jap cars of equal performance must run premium fuel!

OMG!!! Please someone air out the place...the smell of BS is overpowering:disgust:

Prove it buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Accord and Camry all run on regular unleaded. As do the Civic and Corolla. In fact, I belive that all Toyotas and Hondas run regular unleaded (except for the sports coupes). Now Lexus and Acura may require premium but that's another story.

THe JD Power survey means nothing, that's just initial quality, long term the poorly engineered cheap Jap junks falls apart!

<< THe JD Power survey means nothing, that's just initial quality, long term the poorly engineered cheap Jap junks falls apart! >>

If the Japanese cars fall apart, explain to me why:

1) The Japanese can charge a thick premium over domestics for their cars and STILL come out as being the best selling cars in America?
2) They have a much higher resale value than domestics
3) Why Japanese cars are consistently rated higher by customers and critics alike
4) Why Japanese cars have a higher % of repeat buyers than domestics (especially the Camry and Accord).

Stop spreading your bullsh!t. No one is paying attention to you anymore and everyone has already dismissed you and ridiculed you. You might as well quit now.

To second NSF4, how does honda get the same power out of a natuarally aspirated 3.5L V6 on regular unleaded that Pontiac gets out of a supercharged V6 that recommends premium fuel?

Granted, I LOVE american cars and the concept of supporting a domestic business. I also realize that by buying Japanese vehicles, (made in the US by americans, mind you) the domestics manufacturers are pushed (by the law of competition) to improve their products (as they have, tremendously, over the past decade) to meet the superior quality of those Japanese vehicles.

my $.02

This whole thing is TOO funny. I think there are plenty of good reasons to want an American car (foremost being that it is a way to support our own economy), but the argument that American cars are, on the whole, better-engineered than Japanese ones is laughable. It seems all too fitting that the proponent of this argument is the same guy who claims to be excited about getting an Aztek!

NFS4, i couldn't help but notice you used the phrases "raped" "richard simmons" "full body massage" and "ass rammed" in a post dealing with... cars? :Q

LOL I'm anxiously awaiting his reply ... granted all of it will be horsesh!t :Q

1) Raped...well, that's a common term used around here when discussing cars when someone gets OWNED
2) Richard Simmons and full body massage was used to describe how ridiculous it is to like the Aztek
3) Ass-rammed is a term my roommate uses to describe when he gets screwed on a test or something similar.

LMAO..

Huh? Are we talking about miles per gallon, or engine performance? I thought we were talking about MPG. Anyway..

Your statement just reaffirms the fact that you don't seem to have a very good understanding of how cars-- engines .. work.

I've probably built more motorcycle, and cars engines, than you have ever started!

You're looking forward to driving an Aztec? I wouldn't drive one of those fugly things if I was given one.
