I will buy a cheap 4K gaming TV and new A/V receiver ... someday. That is when upscaling and FG will have real value to me. HDR is not a big draw for us color deficient folks.
It's not really about colors (yes they are more vivid and saturated on good 10-bit HDR displays) but rather stuff popping out and making its presence felt on the screen. An example that I loved seeing was when playing Forza Horizon at night. It was dark enough that everything looked dull but I could still clearly see everything. The tail lights of the car looked like real lights due to them being a lot brighter than the rest of the image and in the distance, fireworks were going on in the sky. And I was just driving all around and enjoying the feel of the car and the display of vivid colors on the screen. But I have to admit that I love night scenes and do feel that HDR can't do much for daylight scenes, other than momentarily blinding you with brightness but then that's what happens often in real life too when sunlight is involved.HDR is not a big draw for us color deficient folks.
HDR400 monitor is kinda useless. It will leave you wanting more.I will get down to Best Buy and have them demo it for me.
Yeah that frog channel is sorta anti-Nvidia and clickbaity.DF is again talking BS. When i was watching ancient gameplay video, there is show with Xess 1.3 is mostly tie, based on game

AMD FSR 3.1 Still Lags Behind NVIDIA DLSS 3.7, Intel XeSS 1.3 in Terms of Image Quality, Despite Improvements
While allowing frame generation to be used with any upscaler or anti-aliasing solution, AMD FSR 3.1 still leaves something to be desiredwccftech.com
This guy have pretty good point about DLSS vs FSR war, and i'm agree with him.

Did you try FSR 3.1?I game mostly on my 3080 over my 6800
That would be awesome.Did you try FSR 3.1?
Any comments on what's wrong with it, over DLSS3?
Also, does AMD also offer some kind of DLAA analogue?
Any comments on this?
The lack of a DLAA is one of the main downpoints of AMD right now.
The newer FSR 3.1 introduces image quality improvements to every performance preset of the upscaler, and introduces new presets, including the Native AA mode that's analogous to NVIDIA's DLAA.
... and I stopped right there. From the Videocardz article comments
They can it do now, but i think their strategy no lock only for RDNA3, that mean there high chance after launch Playstation upscaler, we're gonna see it on RDNA3/4I hope RDNA4/5 has dedicated hardware for upscaling.
I have in HFW but the artifacting around the character in motion is too distracting for me. I am quite sensitive to distortion in motion so for me DLSS is the only way to upscale a Third Person game, although I try not to use upscaling where I can hit 60+ native (at 4K, 100+ at 1440p).Did you try FSR 3.1?

DLSS still has a massive lead. This is a fact not speculation. I trust HUB to make an accurate comparison iike DF or the AMD-biased channels on YouTube.
Glad to see AMDs improving FSR. I hope RDNA4/5 has dedicated hardware for upscaling.
yes, my bad. Everyone is biased is some way, not saying they aren’t is a fools errand.I think you mean "unlike DF and AMD biased channels". That said, after last year's hissy fit from Tim at HUB over the Starfield FSR only drama I tend to be skeptical of his assessment on these things.
IMHO there are a lot of eggheads bending their minds to the problem and it's come a long way since nVidia massively jumped the gun in 2018.RT and PT are still too much of an Nvidia tech demo 6 years later. I think with the other vendors doing more with it, hopefully 2025 will be the year it can start being more about the games than RTX.
This is true of everything pretty much.so far it is always better to use upscaling than the old method of choosing a lower non native resolution than your monitor's
Is FSR 3.1 the same frame interpolation algo as in AFMF 2?
DF made a comparison for FSR 3.1 vs DLSS 3.7/ XeSS 1.3. Alex did the testing, the best imo out of all the DF team for PC benchmarks
