So why are you only listening to them and not the rest of us when we say that the ipaq has a much longer battery life than that?

Or do you only hear what you want to hear?

You still have not answered my question. You say that you have used TWO PocketPC's which gave 3 hours of battery life and constant reboots. Which two were they????

As for battery life.

12 - 14 hours normal PIM duties (calender, tasks, word, excel, etc.) with low backlight or back light off (continous use)
8 hours with backlight on medium (continous use)
8 - 10 hours playing MP3's with backlight off (continous use)
4 - 5 hours playing MP3's (or movies) with backlight at FULL BLAST (continous use)

Have you guys read about the Toshiba PocketPC e570? It looks like it totally kicks ass! Built in type II CF slot and SD slot, great display, etc. And it retails for $570, much better than $650 for the 3850. I have a friend who works for Toshiba subsidiary, he got me a great deal on a Toshiba notebook, maybe I can get one of these puppies!

love that one, if I was looking for a pda now it would be either that one or a ipaq, but since the ipaq was the only good pda when I bought it i had no choice. Have to love competition ;)

Definitely go for the Toshiba! That looks sweet. I used to have a Casio EM500, which I loved, but I decided to get a laptop so I could watch DVDs.

The Tosiba only gets 8 hours of battery life compared to 12 for the iPAQ and 14 for the Jornada

main difference is price:p if you need divx/mp3 capability then pocket pc all the way, but to get the nicer ones its a couple hundred:p if all you want is appointments/schedules/avantgo/ebooks and notes a cheapo 89 dollar visor deluxe or 100 dollar m100 will do:p

all overpriced? palm os is best reserved for low end stuff, its capabilities don't scale well with price.

Wow, I've never seen flaming over this topic before, just discussions!

I had a good ol Philips Nino 500, and it was great, but I never used it because of the size. Then, I got a Palm Vx and I loved it because of the size. I played games all day on it (and took notes). I wanted something with color, so I got a Ipaq look a like (same specs, made by UR-There) and I quickly didn't like it because of the size and battery life. I tried selling it, but someone ripped me off, (so I'm out $500 on that thing) so I got a Palm m505.

I love the m505, the backlight is a MUST if you have a screen cover (which pisses me off) but even then, the battery life is more than 8 hours. I just love how I went to seattle with some friends and my friend who had a jornada had to bring his charger :D

downside?
no mp3's (I have a riovolt for that)
no Simcity 2000 (I only have classic on it) :(

He's talking about AFTER his Nino.

The Amigo was a PocketPC with 32MB RAM, 206MHz StrongARM, 16-bit color screen, and built-in PC Card sleeve.

64MB iPAQ 3670's are under $300 and you only need ONE item to carry around with you to do ALL of those functions. Who wants to lug around all of that CRAP?:D

Who wants to do all that crap at once? When i go jogging there is no way i would want to carry a fragile PDA. When would I want to do all these things at once? The only situation i can think of is in a car ride or an airplane ride. It is not to challenging to bring all of these devices in either of these situations.
The point isn't that a PocketPC device is better than a Palm one, but rather, how ca you compare the two. Now, granted the original question was which of the two should he get in a certain price range. In that situation, without question, the PocketPC is the better of the two. It hardly seems fair to say that it is better in all situations though.
Comparing a $100 dollar device to a 400 or a $500 device is not fair.

Why did you even bring up a $100 PalmOS device in the first place? The original poster was talking about a color, MP3 capable Sony device which is far from a $100 device. You are the one that took things off track;)
