Ohh i am 21 and trying to make a point.

Your 21 years old and telling on people. Shouldnt you be at the bar hanging out with girls or having the time of your life? Ohh thats right. NO. You sitting your arse down in front of the computer worrying about turning someone in for piracy. I have seriously out of the 1000's i know here at Drexel have never heard anyone worry about narcing on someone for pirating. They all have lives and couldnt give 2 sh*ts about something so lame. I suggest you pick up your arm, extent it, extent your middle finger and hit that little button that says power. Next get up walk to the door and GO OUTSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, you think that instead of trying to help the world, I should go to the bar/get drunk? Are you messed up? You should seriously seek help if you actually believe that. Just because you hang out with losers who don't give 2 sh*ts about the world doesn't mean that everyone should be that way.

omg, you seriously think you're helping the world by turning in this person?! If you are really genuine about "helping the world", then you time is better spent with volunteer work at a local hospital or school. So please stop it with the I'm helping world crap.

You aren't helping the world by volunteering at a hospital, either! So I guess I should just sit here and not do anything, right?

if you don't see the difference between providing help in a hospital versus ratting a pirate out ... you're hopeless ...

There is a difference, that was my point (sarcastically). You claim that volunteering at a hospital is helping the world. Yet you claim that turning in someone who is selling pirated games is not. It's subjective. Just because you say it's not doesn't make it so. In fact, it is helping the world, but in a smaller way. Any help is welcome though, IMO.

By downloading, you're mearly stealing. In the other, you're profiting from another entity's work. An example would be if a friend would steal $20 from you every week. You knew it, but you decided that he needed it more than you and you let it slide. Then lets say that your friend was putting that money into the stock market and made $1,000,000. After making all that money, he just took off to some other country and never said another word to you.

WTF are you talking about? Your analogy is so ridiculous...LMFAO.
I will agree with you that selling pirated games is worse, but only slightly. I think you must have a personal grudge against this person. Turning him in is not going to do sweet fu** all other than screw up his life....so what did he do to you?

I never said volunteering at a hospital is helping the world, I said it's better time spent ... just think about it for a bit.

You only have one right in this world, and that right is to do whatever you please. But with that one right comes one responsibility, to accept the consequenses of your actions.

It was his choice, and he made it himself.

It may seem like time better spent to you, but not to me. I would not be very efficient at a hospital and would probably make some very costly mistakes. No, my time is better spent here.

Hey, FFactory0x, where'd you go? Did you have to go to work at your awesome job? Or spend some time with your incredibly hot gf? Or are the two related? You're at work spending time with your gf because you're her ____ and she's a ____.

j/k :D

So if I see your mother getting raped in an alley, I should just mind my own business and walk off? No, I don't work like that. Even if it is your mother, I would still try to help her.

lol, and yes, he isn't my friend.

do i really need to explain why that is an ignorant argument?
To try and compare someone getting raped, to someone pirating games is truly ignorant. I think that is all that needs to be said.

*sigh*
I'm not directly comparing the two, it's something we learned in kindergarten called an "Analogy" (I typed that slowly so you can understand). Do you need me to explain what an analogy is?

well, when you use an "analogy" you are supposed to make a valid comparison, or did they not teach you that in special ed?

It is perfectly valid. Just because they are not of equal importance doesn't mean it isn't a valid analogy. What special ed class did you flunk out of?

I'm not seeing how turning in someone for selling pirated software/music is going to make the world any better. The only person it's going to benefit is you, mabey some cop who get's a bonus for busting someone for copyright infringement or IP fraud and lawyers.
Judicial system resources will be wasted at a rate that FAR outweighs any fines that will be brought upon the person. And to what ends?
So you get a sense of inflated morality, his life becomes much harder and the world is a better place. Oh yea, almost forgot, all the artists get paid right?

So if I see your mother getting raped in an alley, I should just mind my own business and walk off? No, I don't work like that. Even if it is your mother, I would still try to help her.
You are incredible at coming up with terrible analogies. Violent crime committed against an immediate family member vs. copyright infringement. Comon.
rolleye.gif

Do you ever remember going to a friends or families house, and having them pop in a copied VHS tape? When the copyright logo and FBI infomation came up, did you get the urge to say something or call the authorities because they are breaking the law?
Thoes criminals, cast them into the oven!

You want to make the world a better place? Join peace corps. Give money to needy families or charities. Plant a tree. Write a letter to your congressman. Don't drive you car for a day (if you own one). Go read to needy children at the shelters.
Dont inflate your sense of morality at the expense of others and think it's actaully helping the world.

I apologize for calling you naive and brainwashed in a prior post. I should have come up with something more interesting, but the thread wasn't developed enough to make a full appraisal of the situation.
