So, to restate a question that has, typically, been ignored. What do you guys think Speaker Pelosi is going to do to our gun and knife rights?

You know you're a moron when you think third in line for the Presidency is an idiot. She has more talent and ability in her little finger than you assholes have in your huge asses.

No she really doesn't. She just hits all the talking points and fits into the same mold her constituency. She's a terrible politician, with terrible ideas, who has been continually been shitty.

.....

However the idea it creates jobs or any more jobs than if that money were left in people who are still working pockets is absurd.

Here's the deal: It does bounce around the economy.

How much? I don't care :D

But it does. My guess is 2-3X. Others say more, some say less.

The problem with unemployment is that at least half of these jobs are not coming back, and we may be looking at a new 'normal' of 6% unemployment.

That, compounded by the 60 million Americans with zero or negative net worth (who represent by far a greater percentage of the unemployed).

I believe that if there were not so much regulation and bureaucracy involved, many of the unemployed could become successful starting their own business. But the way things are now, it's almost impossible for anyone to do so without having to hire an armload of other people to make sure they are following all the rules.

In earlier times, if you lost your job working for someone else you could go into business easily - hang up a sign and declare you are open. Now that option is simply unpractical. Too bad, because I think many of the unemployed could find themselves in new careers that could support their families.

I'll go out on a limb and say she doesnt give a shit about the 2nd amendment, or perhaps the entire Constitution.

So then Bush must be a genius since he was first in line for the Presidency? ;)

I agree with you lost wealth is going to sting for a long time. I am front in center of this housing implosion and wealth I may never get back. However my point is because the govt hands person x money from person y doesnt mean it will create as many or more jobs than if person x bought a product from person y.

There is a lost opportunity cost people never account for in these transfers of wealth.

And I want to reiterate in the case of unemployment I have no problem. People paid in when they were working. It is there for when they need it.

And i dont know if these jobs will never come back. We heard the same doom and gloon a decade ago when the stock market bubble burst. But by the end of 2004 we were at defacto full employment at or under 5%.

This is the core problem of government. If you buy with your own money a house from, say, Classy for $100,000 then Classy has $100,000 which he can use to pay off his $80,000 building loan and start building another house to sell. If the government takes $100,000 from you and others and gives it to me to buy a house, part of that money HAS to be consumed by government. People have to keep track of the income, and calculate and collect the taxes of, you and all the others, as well as track my income to make sure I'm really in need and that I qualify for this particular program. Other people must administrate the program, hand out the money, and make sure I don't blow it on hookers and blow. All those government people must be paid, in salary and in juicy government bennies. All those government people must have a place to work, lights and water and sewer service. If only twenty percent is consumed by the government then I get only $80,000 to buy my house - which means Classy can pay off his building loan but makes no profit. If as is the case with most government programs the overhead burden is more like 30 or 40% then Classy can't even pay off his building loan, which means he's out of the building business.

The more government grows, the more of our total societal labor and resources it consumes, the less is left for the wealth-producing sectors of our society, and therefore even more people are squeezed out and now need help. It's a vicious cycle.

What the fuck is that supposed to mean? That Cheney, who was second in line to be president is smarter than Pelosi? And because Bush was actually president, he's smarter than both?

Please, you are smart. Try to think. First second and third don't indicate intelligence, only that great capacity and thus intelligence can be inferred of any who reach such a level. This means that in terms of smarts and political acumen, Bush is a rank genius compared to me. He has more political savvy in his finger that I do in my entire body. And so does Sarah Palin. Only a small minded prick would assert that Pelosi is a moron, somebody who has done little with their own life and needs vicarious pleasure on pretending superiority. There isn't one iota of significance to any of the criticism that the jackasses who post here create. They are just a bunch of vindictive little dick heads.

Perhaps "moron" is the wrong word, but I think you are overestimating the real intelligence of these politicians.

To all those defending the OP statement by saying "unemployment benefits help by allow people to spend money" - this makes no sense to me.

The money that is given to them doesn't grow on trees. It has been taken from somebody else in the form of the taxes. So somebody else in the world is now spending less money because it was taken away from them and given to the unemployed.

So to say that unemployment benefits create jobs by allowing unemployed to spend is equivalent to saying "I invented perpetual motion machine"

Yes. There isn't necessarily a correlation between great intelligence and great ambition. Or great integrity either for that matter.

For as much as "liberals" bitch about how much of the economy is consumed by things like

* Banks that add no real value other than shifting money around for the wealthy
* Health insurance companies which are middle men soaking up tons of cash

They sure don't seem to mind feeding the beast of government ever larger portions of our GDP, as if they aren't just another middle man taking a massive cut and providing little in return.

There is a tremendous correlation between seeing other people as morons and having inferior feelings. The need to put others down is a real evil. First they are stupid then evil and finally they deserve to die, and all because we will never see that origin in our own self hate.

Unemployment benefits suck ass because they keep people out of work and cause inflation or debt. The quicker the Fed raises interest rates, and the govt slashes spending and taxes, the quicker the economy will get better.

A political genius of the first order. He was a genius at being stupid and loved and therefore bullet proof. A master of the shit eating grin.

That would certainly explain your posts.

Everything I know about you I know because I know me. I have said that a hundred times. Get up to speed please. Don't waste your time trying to zing me with something I have known forever.

The difference between knowing the source of your hate for others lies in your hate for yourself and not knowing it are oceans apart, although you can't know that without that self awareness. It opens the door to optional behaviors you have yet to imagine. The truth will set you free.

I'm collecting unemployment right now.

And I'm laughing at all you stupid fuckers paying for it. I make more on unemployment than a lot of people make working their asses off for 40 hours a week.

I'm not going to get a job until I absolutely have to.

You bunch of stupid fools.

I would bet you are lying but if you aren't why would I care. Unemployment helps millions who are in need and it can't be helped if some will take advantage. But I know who such people are. They are people who do not value themselves so they cheat because they think themselves to worthless to make it otherwise. Such folk may get a few dollars but in exchange they gave up real self respect. They feel like shit, but they don't know it. But it comes out in their behavior and the misery they make for themselves and others in their lives.

Childish banter aside, these people in Washington are out of touch with reality. Pelosi is just the flavor of the week.

Some are, like Beohner calling the financial crisis an 'ant'.

Pelosi isn't. You post nothing trying to support your attack.
