<< would someone please change to title to "NOT back in stock". >>

No because it's not the OP's job to constantly monitor the flow of stock. If he did so, the title would change probably 3x a week.

Ok... I'm missing something.
Got the frame, got my PNY 16MB CF card, and my reader/writer.

trasfered .jpgs from my HD to the CF card via the reader/writer, ejected CF card, plugged into picture frame, went to copy -> CF to frame, and its telling me no pictures found.

do the pictures need to be a certain format? certain resolution? I know the manual says it will auto rezsize if they are incorrect.
Hmm...

I had the same problem when I used certain programs to resize my large pics down to 640x480 (to speed transfer). There is a small blurb about Photoshop and resizing in the Kodak FAQ. I had success when using the (free) IrfanView application to batch resize, but it didn't produce thumbnails when viewed on the frame. PhotoExplorer (recommended by KwadGuy) resized correctly AND produced thumbs that the frame liked.

I would first try the free IrfanView download to see if that solves your current problem. You could also try just copying full-size pics onto the flash card and see if the frame will download those (slowly).

Edit: I guess I've assumed that you've resized your pics cuz I got exactly your result when I did that. If that's not the case, then someone else needs to join in to help.

Here is a link for Ulead Photo Explorer 6.0 Freeware program:

Ulead Photo Explorer 6.0

I don't know if it will do the same as the Ulead Photo Explorer Pro 7.0 or not. Would one of you who already has their picture frame give this a try and see if it will work the same?

Thanks.

Ok more EXIF/Thumbnail/etc data....

So I took one of my jpgs that i previously resized using ACDSee Power Suite 4.0 (from 2200x1800ish to 852x639). When i moved the 852x file to the CF and plugged into the frame, it saw NO pictures on the CF.

I then took that same 852x file and resized to 640x480 using InfraView, moved to the CF, plugged into the frame and went to copy. It showed up but as "No Thumbnail available"... so I copied it to the frame anyways, let the slideshow run and viola! there it was.

So, do Infraview add the EXIF info? But then why no thumbnail? I'm lost :)

The thumbnail is the only EXIF data the frame looks at...maybe it just doesn't like non-standard dimensions like 852x639.

Has anyone had the order shipped to an alternate address instead of the billing address for the CC?

I already told the CC company about the alternate address, but CGeeks is still unable to process the order. It's being held up because of this, and they asked for the date of birth info, which I already gave them, and now the following:

You need to contact your banking institution.
They will not release any information to us to verify your address information.
Either contact them or please Fax us in a copy of your credit card, your drivers licence and a written authorization for us to ship to the address you listed, please note on the fax the order number and please sign it.

Is this all necessary? Is it paranoia on my part or theirs?

Wingerr -
I had mine billed to my home addy and sent to my work and I didn't run into anything like that - not sure what's going on there...

Maybe you're over your credit limit from too many hot deals ;)

Hi All
I have an interesting observation that I thought you might be interested in, I received my frame and it was indeed a non networked version, I decided to move it to a different room in the house and when I plugged it in the frame asked me whether I had moved it to a different location, I said no and everything was ok, I checked the menu and I now have a networked version, not that I want it as a networked version but I can now enter a password code to stop the kids from getting in to it, I just hope that this does not mean I will be getting problems with it not being registered.
Anybody else got this.

OK - so I'm a little confused.

From what I'm reading, any CF card should work, but you need to worry about what program you use to format the pictures... is that right? Or do you need to worry about the program if you want thumbnails, but some CF cards still don't work properly with this frame?

Help!

Once again, though I mentioned this earlier in the thread:

IrfranView: batch resizes fine, loses thumbnails/EXIF info.
ACDsee: batch resizes fine, claims it produces EXIF info, but doesn't
do it properly (and thumbnails won't be available on frame)
Ulead Photoexplorer 7: Batch resizes fine, includes EXIF info properly,
thumbnails will be available on frame.

If you don't want to spend any money, stick with IrfranView. It
will at least resize OK. If the EXIF info is important to you,
your only choice (so far as I was able to determine) is Ulead
Photoexplorer 7. Forget ACDsee.

112 left - going fast!

Got mine ordered ;)

NOTE: Geeks says they won't ship until 1/2/2002 at the earliest due to their Xmas shutdown, but that orders should be placed to reserve inventory....

radioactiveman,

If I hit that limit, I'd be in deep doo doo!

I called them up to switch to a different CC; maybe that'll work better. This is the first time I ever had any problem shipping to the work address- I guess it's extra caution on their part.
At least Computergeeks said they do hold the inventory from my order even though it's OOS on the website..

Bah! So much for my Christmas gift!

They cancelled the order, time to shop elsewhere- Both Discover and Mastercard apparently don't seem to trust them enough to give them the information they want, apparently- I definitely have the alternate shipping address logged with Discover, but they can't confirm it, for some reason. Hmmm?

hey guyz! i got a story/question to share...

ok, i didn't get in on the deal, but you opened my eyes to a perfect gift for xmas for my wife! they were already out of stock, so i got one on ebay for $130 shipped... not $100 i know, but hey, it is a perfect gift, and $130 is still considerably less than $399 or $299... (incidently, i saw them on clearance at The Good Guys (west coast B&M electronics store) for $199).

at any rate, i was getting frustrated cause i coulnd't get the thing to work... after editing all my pics w/ that free photostudio program (thx to whoever that was that suggested it! batch exif creation worked perfectly), the frame kept saying 'no pictures found'... on a whim, i decided to try a 2nd CF card.. presto.. appears it doesn't like my little 8meg 'Delkin Devices' card... my 32meg viking worked like a champ.. kinda frustrating, but alls well that ends well..

i also took off the etched plastic screen. thx to whoever suggested that!

ok, here's my question.. while copying my humble 15 picture setup, i noticed that it will only copy 8 at a time.. there's a button at the top that says 'get next 4 pictures' but appears to do nothing.. i've been reading about a firmware release to flash the network frames into non-network frames. does this also fix other issues? like being able to copy over 20 pictures at once rather than 8 at a time?

thx guyz! thx for everything! it's PERFECT!!!!

Looks like Computer Geeks has raised the price to $119.00 now, even though they are out of stock. Dunno if that price will remain if/when they get some more shipments.
