Say, has anyone picked up a Kensington lock to tie down one of these? My wife wants to take one to work but I suspect it'll go walkin'.

I checked a couple of sites that carry Kensington stuff like buy.com but I can't tell what product would be the right one.

TIA

how do you get the Kodak Picture Software to resize many pictures at once? I can see how to do a Save As one at a time, but will it do multiples?

in the Kodak software, after you click "save as", there is a button midway down on the left side to select all before clicking "save as" again and making the adjustments indicated. You can also selectively click on each photo you want to include in the batch update in the icons at the bottom of the second screen.

The thing I have had trouble with is getting the frame to work with pictures saved at a higher-than-medium quality setting. I noticed some color banding in the photos that had been processed by the kodak software. Going to try a couple of other things...

Just received mine today. Now I have to get some of the software that was mentioned in the thread. Excellent.

thanks CIRC, works like a charm... it's a shame that everytime you run the software to add pix, you have to re-add the ones that you already had on the card... otherwise it tries to write over the ones already there...
other than that this is a great gadget... 132 different pix on a 16mb card....

Found two appropriate (and well priced) items at buy.com.

Dazzle CompactFlash Reader $14.95

and

Fellowes Notebook Lock $23.95

The Dazzle Compact Flash Reader works flawlessly with WinXP and my cheap SimpleTech 32MB card. It also comes with OnDVD software that lets you archive pictures to CD with the ability to play them back on a DVD player (nice bonus).

The notebook lock is very heavy duty (probably more than I need) and seemed like the best bang for the buck. Any standard notebook lock should work with the slot in the back.

I was hoping that Kodak Picture software mentioned a few posts back could simply attach thumbnails to my already-resized-in-Photoshop images without doing anything else to the pictures. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Even when set to the highest quality/lowest compression option---which supposedly will not compress the image further---the Kodak software shrinks the .jpeg's even more, creating a subtle (but definitely noticeable) hit in color fidelity and/or sharpness. Sigh. The search for the painless EXIF/thumbnail utility continues...

As for the locks, any of the standard notebook locks will work fine, I've used them to lock the Kodak frame to a cube. Even used it to hang from a wall after our Xmas party.

I was wondering..

You guys think it's possible or if it's a good idea to paint the frame a diff. color?? (like black/blue or something to match my room) I didn't get the frame yet but it's coming in like a couple days.. (can't wait!) Maybe the original color is nice already but I can't quite picture a rosewood frame on my desk. And also, where did you guys get the replacement glass/plastic from? Homedepot? Wut's better, glass or plastic?? Thanks!

Yes you can use the %10 code, as long as that's not expired. These frames are no longer a CompGeeks special so by using the %10 code, it'es essentially $108, which still is not a bad deal. That's how I got 2 additional frames.
