The French sold us inhabited lands they did not really own is probably not a great comparison unless one is also really jazzed about a new wave of US imperialism.

Anyway if Greenland voted for independence from Denmark and negotiated to join the US via legitimate process that's a real different animal.
I wouldn't expect that to happen, but I did not expect America to vote to have Trump as POTUS last November, so who knows? Do they want McDonalds and gas stations all over Greenland? Looks like a pretty sparse and quaint rural scene from the air. In the USA that generally spells right wing. Who knows what Greenlanders think about all this?

I had to look it up but it appears there is a pro-independence majority. Whether or not that holds up in the face of the actual question is another matter. Becoming a US Territory is really likely not an appealing deal however, likely statehood or nothing if they actually made it to the table.

Are you new to this planet?

In what world do the Democrats put together a semi-competent strategy like this?

Nah, be ready for Gavin Newsom calling voters deplorable and garbage if they don't vote for him and then wonder why he doesn't win.
Don't worry: Gavin Newsom isn't going anywhere as long as California continues to be an expensive place to live. The braindead attack ads write themselves.

I am not new to this planet. Democrats need simple messaging for the nincompoop masses that have attention spans of babies. Keep the messaging simple and plaster it everywhere. One message that is a positive vision of the future (with almost no details- let the voters fill the pipe with their own hopes and dreams), and one message that picks on an easy to identify villain.

The media environment is like a WWE match. You need to play to the audience, not "carefully connect with each individual voter".

In other words. We need populism. Fight fire with fire.

I have this on my Facebook wall:

“The forest was shrinking, but the trees kept voting for the axe, for the axe was clever and convinced the trees that because his handle was made of wood he was one of them.”

And people I have as friends that support Trump honest to god think Greenland and the Panama canal fiasco are great things, not realizing that they did not seek it out lol. Fuck I hate stupid people more than soapy cilantro.

Not necessarily populism. Just adaptation to the current communication environment. They can't just be pushing press releases and "explaining" how something will get enacted or changed.

Sure, I guess picking a villain of "the people" fits in that vein...

The time for that was 2024.

It's over now, for a generation or maybe even forever.

Just curious..

Would anyone here follow an order to invade Greenland or Canada from the Orange Overlord?

Keep in mind that Greenland is a member of NATO. That means we'll be in the same position that Hitler was in. With the entire planet at war against us.

With the windfall stock price increases they will be able to pay for their newly accrued medical debt!

Bring back the good old pre-ACA days that FDC has been pining for, when his premiums were allegedly really low and he got everything covered (lol)

Newsom is a political disaster nationally, and he's not even popular in CA.

The fact that you can't realize this, speaks volumes.
Gavin can speak better than any other Democrat I've heard when it comes to condemning the Republican Party. He does not come off as a guy who's invested solely in maneuvering for the nomination. What you're smoking I can't guess but I hope I'm not downwind.

He's a good troll, I can give you that.

But he has zero chance on a national level.

Spoken like someone who doesn't see the moment for what it is.
Not really sure how much you should be talking about seeing the moment considering a few years back you thought Republicans were going to take a Senate seat in Hawaii. (they lost by 45 points, lol)

As I said in the past you have simply predicted the same thing every time, it is not special to be right once after being wrong over and over.
