how long is this game?

I can't check on my exact game time, but I think I got ~35-40 hrs single player and screwed around for ~10 in multiplayer. With single player I did all of the stranger missions (to my knowledge) did a decent amount of the other challenges (survival, sharpshooter, were around lvl 7 when I beat the game) and then barreled through the end of the game as soon as I opened up the last area just so I could finish the story. There's definitely a lot of game here, and plenty more for me to finish if I ever wanted to get 100% completion down the road. Haven't even touched the new co-op stuff yet. Money well spent at $60, definite buy at $40, and if you would have been lucky enough to get it for $30 at gamestops short sale it would have been a bargain.

The multiplayer still really needs some bug fixes. Co-op was seriously janked last night:

I finished the single player last night
the ending was kind of a bummer even though Jack gets his revenge. I shot Ross in the head 5 times before he hit the ground, though :D
. Good, not great, game. At times I referred to it as the horse riding simulator since you do so much of it. I'll mess with multiplayer a bit more.

so i hear this game is easy...is this true? is it fun despite being no challenge at all?

The lock on targeting makes it very easy. You're able to disable that I believe and make it harder for yourself, but shooting on horseback without autoaim would be awful.

I played the majority of the game with Expert targeting. While I found it pretty satisfying to take out pursuers from a horse or coach manually, there's still Dead Eye which I probably used more often than not on horseback. The lack of auto-aim definitely makes the game more challenging.

Makes sense. I rarely remembered to use dead eye as I kept the targeting on default. I'd probably use it a ton if I turned expert on.

Feel free to add me on Live - Ten bux

I'd love to do some coop with my fellow ATers.

Also, didn't read the thread so didn't see this mentioned - are load times always ridiculous for MP games? I hopped into a coop game for the first time and it sat there loading for 4 minutes. I just quit back to the dashboard. The game is installed on my HD. Is it network related?

When I installed it to my HDD it took maybe 15-20 seconds to load into MP.

I'm wondering if it's the Slim's fault. I installed another game and it kept freezing at the first loading screen. Deleting and running from the disc fixed it.

I don't know if it's a hardware issue. RDR definitely has some bugs in this area. I have a Jasper Elite and the game is installed on my hard drive but I have run into the loading issue plenty of times. Sometimes it will get stuck on the loading screen for eternity, other times it will eventually give an error.

Lately I get booted from Free Roam three or four times before even joining for the first time. I even got stuck on a load screen trying to play Single Player the other day.

Oh my god, I played this today, and it was awesome. Just like I imagined in a way, yet totally different and awesome. I convinced my friend to go crazy and let me shoot everybody, and I was having an awesome time getting high bounties ($3k) and a black horse for getting negative honor. Cannot wait. We played a little bit of MP, and it seemed unbalanced...level 30 guy kept killing us (we never played, level 1) over and over and over and over and it was fucking annoying.

Wow this game is repetitive as hell. I'm to the point where I just want it to end and I have a feeling I'm only about halfway through (I'm in Mexico)! Good thing I have Uncharted 2 to supplement. Did anyone else find the missions to kind of be the same thing over and over, perhaps slightly reskinned variants of previous missions, etc.?

I enjoyed the characters, story, and locale too much to really worry about it. It's that way with the majority of Rockstar games though IMO. The single player campaign is pretty long, but if you're not totally into it you'll find it repetitive.

You still have a lot to do once you get up north to the blackwater area anyway, so really if you're not enjoying it you shouldn't finish it. No reason to spend your time playing something you don't enjoy.

Well that sucks. I like the story and characters quite a bit actually. It just feels like they have a lot of missions that are required to progress the story but were probably added just to fluff the required game time. I'll still finish it but will need to supplement with something else.

Well, I just finished this game last night, 94% complete. I must say that I really dug the game. Granted it was very easy, but at least it was satisfying, unlike Fable 2 where it was basically impossible to lose. I do wish they would make these type of game a bit harder. But overall I was very pleased and enjoyed it. I will try to get 100% completion.

I agree. I'm thru Mexico and into Blackwater. Dunno how much more story is left, but found the gameplay to be repetitive. Didn't find the story to be interesting, I'm actually tempted to skip thru all the dialog and just get to the gameplay part because sometimes it's just awkward and terrible. Not too interested in the characters, as they're either boring cliches, or bizarre and flamboyant. The David Carradine rip off was kinda cool.

IMO, I'd give the game a 7 or 8 out of 10. Not great, but good enough so I don't feel like I wasted my money. My #1 complaint would be the stale gameplay. In terms of story missions, it's killing waves of enemies, killing waves of enemies on a horse, killing waves of enemies on a train, killing waives of enemies on a carriage, etc.

I'm still in the early game. I brought in my first live bounty but had to scramble from looting the dead bandits because more showed up on horseback and almost killed me. That was pretty cool, just wish I hadn't missed the loot and now I've forgotten where their camp was. Anyway, after I brought in the bounty and slept/saved, I went back and went scouting near where the bandit camp was. This pack of weird wolves/dogs or whatever mobbed me and killed my horse in a few hits. On foot I couldn't aim at them fast enough so they killed me too. How can I avoid this, and can these gangs of canines be fought effectively? Thanks.
