Be sure to actually file a complaint against anyone you see doing it, otherwise Microsoft will probably never know. I haven't run into any of these people yet.

Don't worry, I always do that :) I've already filed complaints against anyone trying to do the elevator glitch as well.

I haven't played since Sunday night so I haven't seen the javelin glitch yet.

We played with two guys on opposing teams who were trying to get a tactical nuke last night...we didn't notice until 5 minutes or so into the game and my buddy said "wow, a guy on our team is 0-20." I instantly realized what they were doing and since we had 5 in our party (show up as blue triangles) I looked for the green blip and sprinted towards him. Got to them when the other team's guy was 23-0 and stabbed him in the back, his friend on our team was PISSED (which is funny because both of them have their "tactical nuke count" in their profiles). They both instantly quit and we all filed complaints against both of them.

Thankfully I didn't see any Javelin glitchers yesterday.

I saw his posts on Twitter about it. I'm glad they are actually doing something about all the fucking morons who do shit like this. It doesn't help that these glitches get posted on youtube so everyone knows how to do them.

while i agree it's stupid, i think it is fucking RIDICULOUS that you can get suspended from Xbox Live because of doing something that was left in the game. that is really a bunch of bullshit.

since IW didn't test their game enough and left bugs in it, people can now get suspended from live.

ridiculous.

Too bad they can't fix the shitty map designs in the patch. Just played a match on Wasteland; game ended in a draw: 1600-1600.

Yeah, you read that right. Highest kill count was 6.

This game is a goddamn campfest, and it punishes you when you try to move it forward by blinking first and moving.

Yeah, I can see both sides. On the one hand people are knowlingly abusing the game and exploiting a bug in order to cheat, basically. Cheaters certainly should be punished.

But on the other hand they are simply playing the game. They aren't hacking the game or modding their hardware/software. In principal it seems silly for punishing someone for playing the game as it was developed and released to them. But in the end they are cheating and likely know they are cheating.

The javeline issue is fairly egregious, but I have to imagine there's a line or gray area somewhere where it might not be so cut and dry.

suspending from MW2, sure, but suspending from LIVE, that is ridiculous.

plus, how will they really know if you have done the javelin glitch or not?

They need to focus on fixing the issue. If people can't do it there's no need to punish, the "we'll suspend you" may not even happen, it's just their way of trying to scare people into not doing it. I mean honestly, how are they going to know who does it? I'd think that on their side it appears as just another Javelin kill...

Focus on fixing the problem IW...

Uh... are you serious? Common sense like this applies to real life law as well. For example, if your bank makes a mistake and accidently gives you a large sum of money in your account, you are required to notify them of the mistake so they can fix it. You can't start jumping with joy and spend the cash that isn't yours, even though it is their mistake. Just like IW not finding this Javelin bug, you know it's wrong and not part of the game, don't do it. I'm glad that they are banning people who exploit stuff like this, less douches around to ruin games.

I don't agree with your logic. Just because something is possible, that doesn't mean it's permissible. I don't think anyone who intentionally uses glitches does so thinking that they are intentional features of the game. Taking advantage of a bug to gain an advantage in the game is cheating. It also ruins the game for everyone else, and it's in Microsoft's interest to prevent that.

Same goes for the situation Kabob described where two guys were trying to get nukes together. It's possible, and I doubt IW will do anything to prevent it, but I think both IW and Microsoft would consider it to be cheating. It's the same as if two guys got on opposite teams and one guy did nothing but kill his teammates (in a game mode that allows teamkilling). It's possible, it's not preventable, but it's cheating.

Cheating in the context of video games does not just mean "using a cheat code."

They need to focus on fixing the issue. If people can't do it there's no need to punish, the "we'll suspend you" may not even happen, it's just their way of trying to scare people into not doing it. I don't think IW would have any involvement in the suspensions, that's all Microsoft. Microsoft doesn't say what data they have access to, so we really know what their process is. From what they have said we know they do join games with people who have complaints filed against them and watch them play. They probably also look at the quantity of complaints filed. If you and your 4 friends all field complaints against two guys for cheating, and you don't have a history of filing false complaints, they'll probably just believe you (they've said in the past that your history of complaints impacts the weight they give to your complaints).

Pretty easy for most games, I assume they are checkings logs of players who have been reported by numerous times by others for using the exploit. They just look at the kill log and if they see the exploiter getting a bunch of javelin kills after dying over and over again, guilty as charged.

They need to focus on fixing the issue. If people can't do it there's no need to punish, the "we'll suspend you" may not even happen, it's just their way of trying to scare people into not doing it. The "We will suspend you!" warning is a bandaid to get people to stop exploiting and ruining games with their douchebaggery. I have no doubt that IW has been aware of the issue and has been fixing this problem, along with others. They said they were going to be updating the game soon to fix a bunch of things. Programming changes require a lot of testing to make sure that fixing this problem doesn't cause new, unforseen problems elsewhere.

i still think it is stupid as hell that they can suspend you from LIVE for this.

i should not be unable to play SF4 (for example) because I did a javelin glitch in MW2.

and this isn't the case cause I havent played MW2 since this glitch was even known.

and comparing an online video game to getting large sums of money from a bank on accident ... that is just dumb.

If you cheat on xBox Live, you should be banned from xBox Live. And the concept is still the same, it isn't dumb, it's called a life lesson. Don't be a douchebag and you won't get banned, it's a simple concept most mature people understand. Seems like it's the immature e-thugs who think they are cool doing this are getting punished, no loss of sleep on my part.

It's the best way to discourage behavior that negatively impacts other people's experience. The first offense is only a one day suspension.

It isn't friendly fire... people are getting their friends into the same game but on the opposite team to work together to get a nuke. So you'll have one of the guys on your team, and the other will be on the opposing team.

It's really pretty sad actually that people will go to those lengths just for a badge.

No, the friends are on opposite teams. Usually the one getting killed has Tactical Insertion so he keeps spawning in front of his friend who pops him. And you can be on opposite teams with your friends in MW2.

Yep, and it's lots of fun when they switch away from their private chat just to curse you out for ruining their plans.

I discovered an infinite money glitch on Forza 3 and reported it to T10. If Microsoft is the one doing the banning I hope they don't look at the log, see that I did said glitch, and ban me too. I've not played FM3 in a few weeks (out of town + MW2 = no time) but I need to check.

Ah...i see. At least it isn't friendly fire, but still, that is complete bullshit.

Why do people play the games like that? How is that fun for them ruining things for other people?

That seems like a tough exploit to patch also.

Saddest part about the guys killing each other to get a nuke is that they both bragged about their "nuke count" in their profiles.

Guy in our party left and kept joining whatever games they joined and killing the "nuke earner" over and over.

lol, wow. I still fail to see how that strategy is fun for people. I'd rather go 5-30 than stare at my screen for 10 minutes hoping someone walks into my sights.

I had an idea last night about this whole thing...

Why can't they make a map with randomly populated terrain.

Remember how diablo first came out and it had randomly placed treasure? Why not put buildings/cover/etc in random places every time a map loads.

Sure, there would be times when one position would probably be able to dominate, but more often it would be so new to everyone that people couldn't "learn" where to camp, where to run right away, where to shoot shit before people get there, etc, etc and make the game much more tactical.

Anyone else notice that Wasteland is basically a remake of Brecourt from COD 1 and 2? That map sucked if you weren't good at sniping.

Because the sheer amount of processing power it would take to make that would be crazy. Can you imagine trying to generate a unique map every game? It'd be a 10 minute long game and then it'd take 30 mins to make a new map. Anyone who joined in mid-game would have to sit there and load the exact same map. When processing power jumps alot this will be a viable option, but for now it's not. Remember, Diablo had an overall pre-set textures and a simple 2D layout, not a complete 3d world build.

Anyone else notice that Wasteland is basically a remake of Brecourt from COD 1 and 2? That map sucked if you weren't good at sniping.

I suck at sniping (0 kills on MW2 with sniper rifles) and Wasteland is my single favorite map...
