You can quote any article you want. I've played EVERY one of the games you've mentioned including KZ2. The responsiveness of the controls are night and day.

You can be blind all you want, and I'm all for playing whatever game people want, but don't act oblivious to the facts when someone dares to call out your game of choice.

You can say its intended and supposed to feel "weighty". It doesn't matter what bullshit reason is behind it. The FACT is they sucked and people did not like them.....intended or not intended.

It all comes down to fun vs not fun. The majority of the people in this thread hated the controls of KZ2 (including me ) and stated that they hope the controls are fixed. It took away from the game which could have been excellent but was instead just decent.

One, we're technically talking KZ3 here and people are STILL complaining about the game. Two, if you read the article you'll see that, for example, Halo 3 comes in around 150ms while doing any jumping... which is what people spend A LOT of time doing in MP. Yet you simply never see the complaints like you do with the Killzone games. Killzone 3's input lag IS right in the same range as these games I listed, but it's a given we'll see the same complaints. It's already happening.

The reason for this is that KZ frequently makes you target enemies that are far away with only the top of their head or their shoulder exposed. It requires more precise controls than it has. Halo has giant targets running right out in front of you. It's night and day. I like KZ more than halo, I'd like it more than many, many games if it just controlled better.

It's not some sort of anti KZ conspiracy.

I personally haven't seen much complaints about input lag with KZ3 yet. But between the KZ2 and KZ3 demos, it's night and day to me.

I had no such issues pulling off long-distance head shots in KZ2. This includes MP as well.

The input lag was more noticeable to some more than others. All of this discussion doesn't say that one could not get used to it (whether or not they perceived it), they definitely could. But it was there and was a deal-breaker for many. Let's be honest here though...if the issue didn't blow up over the internet, would many people have taken up arms over it? Obviously not. But we can't discount the issue by saying it was intended or is "realistic". It was a problem, through and through.

Sure, you could get used to it. But it was harder than it should/needs to be.

I never had any issues with regards to accuracy. Even KZ2 pre-patch was pretty easy to snipe because it's a cover based game and you are often shooting at non-moving targets.

Played the demo yesterday with Move and the Sixaxis pad for movement. Definitely takes some getting used to. You're using the left hand to move and right to aim and shoot. Spent around 30 minutes messing around and definitely prefer it to the gamepad alone. Aiming is so much easier. I would prefer even more if this was on the PC :)

But I'll get it....just need to decide if the navigation controller is worth it or not.

I haven't tried the Move with KZ3 yet, but I've not had much luck with the Wii using similar configurations. The problem I have is I'm left handed. When playing a normal controller my left thumb moves and my right aims. This is what I'm used to and I never use any Southpaw configurations. Then when playing on a PC, I move with the keyboard and my left hand and aim wit my mouse in my right. So, basically, I'm used to aiming with right hand and move with my left.

This becomes an issue with move based controllers. When something more than my fingers are involved I want to use my left hand/arm to aim. Being left handed this feels more natural and it's how I shoot real guns However, this flips what I'm used to with games. Suddenly I'm aiming with my left and moving with my right. I tend to get sloppy, especially with the movement. I could flip the controllers, but then aiming wouldnt feel right since the larger movements involved with motion gaming make me want to use my dominate hand. In a nut shell, there's no cofiguration that feels correct.

I know this isn't specific to KZ, but I'm curious as to whether anyone else has this problem.

I had no issues adjusting to the controls. TBH, I didn't even notice it at first. I was able to pick up and play right away. Once I saw the issue mentioned online, I tested it out myself. I was able to detect it then, but it had no effect on my ability to play the game.

The only time I ever had any "difficulty" adjusting was right after playing MW2 for a few months and picking KZ2 back up just for kicks. I definitely noticed the difference then. Still, after a few minutes, I was doing well again. After an hour, I forgot about the difference entirely.

I'm not going to argue either way, as I didn't see the controls as good or bad. It's just annoying hearing both sides claiming they are more right than the other over and over. If you can't get used to it, then you can't get used to it. It only needs to be stated once. If you had no issues with it and played the game just fine, it only needs to be mentioned once. What you experienced does not mean everyone did or should experience the same thing as you. Again, this applies to both sides and no one person in particular.

i have this problem 100% as well. it is basically the reason i couldn't play FPS on the Wii and is probably one of the reasons I sold it. i just couldn't play MP3 due to this, as well as the Red Steel games. i believe I've posted this same thing in some other threads a few years back dealing with it as well.

it sucks for us lefties who can't adapt! i tried to play MP3 a bunch but nothing ever felt right in that game after hours of play. i also don't feel that I could ever 'get used' to it because it just felt ssssoooo unnatural.

Is the move and nav controller not capable of being used in either hand?

I watched some of the Sony Sharpshooter attachment videos on youtube and it seemed you could use it with either hand shooting.

I never really got into the story of these games but reading this

http://killzone.wikia.com/wiki/Time_Line

makes me think that the Helghast are the GOOD guys...

Yeah, you would be surprised, but KZ has a well fleshed out backstory.

The Helghast are most definitely the good guys. The ISA are bastards.

Visari took the injustices that the ISA inflcited on the Helghast and used it to further his Agenda.

The Helghast aren't exactly the most happy happy good guys ("Reeducation" by Visari), but they were still in the right.

I read that yesterday on the official Killzone site (looks like a direct copy and paste from their flash presentation) and I took away from it that the Helghast became greedy and evil and had to be kept in check after controlling the single most important waypoint in the galaxy detrimental to human survival.

They were overtaken and the Helghast people were given their freedom, now this dictator comes along 200 years after the fact and tries to rally his people to retake what was once "theirs".

With that said, I don't mind killing the Helghast in-game. :D

I see now, so what you guys need is a gun attachment that puts the navigation controller in the handle with the thumb so you can use it lefty with your thumb moving

Just rented the game. Pretty damn fun. Good change of pace from the COD franchise. Much different type of gameplay. Its like Team Fortress vs Counter Strike. Two very good games but play quite differently.

I'm thinking the Nav controller is worth it, I didn't care for holding the dualshock in my lap.

Yeah, broke down and bought it today along with KZ3. No regrets, KZ3 and Move were meant for one another IMO. Just need to get used to the controls. Almost broke down and got the battle rifle too but I think the two controllers will work fine. Had a blast today.
