I received the Samsung official 2000mAh battery today from Expansys. It's slightly thicker and bit heavier. I definitely notice the increased weight of the battery. It's strange how such small difference in actual weight can effect the feel of the device. People have said it feels better and more premium. I think it feels slightly worse with the added weight, and I miss the slight indention at the back bottom. The back is straight now and the phone is slightly harder to hold because of it. Nothing drastic but the subtle changes are noticeable via feel. The battery and the back cover came in its own retail packaging. I was pleasantly surprised because I didn't know there was retail package for it.

I went ahead and ordered the micro USB to HDMI MHL adaptor cable since the price has come down on it. I picked one up for little over $6 shipped. It's one of those items you don't need most of the time but really comes in handy few times a year. I know I could've really used it during my last vacation.

True. 2000 mAh is big battery compared to what most non-LTE phones have.

I flashed the new OTA update that was released yesterday. This is in addition to the 4.0.4 update that was released couple weeks ago. It updated my 4.0.4 build from IMM76D to IMM76I. I think Google released this update to fix the signal and data drop loss people were experiencing with 4.0.4. It's tiny update. Only 708K size file. But like all OTA update, it wiped my root. But I restored it back with one click using Voodoo OTA RootKeeper app.

Damn, the smart people at XDA have figured out how to perm SIM unlock Docomo Galaxy Nexus. So if you're in the market for GSM Galaxy Nexus, you can now buy Docomo Galaxy Nexus without the fear of being stuck with a generic IMEI after the permanent unlock. This is excellent news and should help people stuck with generic IMEI number.

Docomo SIM unlock: Jup's Grand Theory of Permanent SIM Unlock

I know Newegg and other shady sellers were sending out unlocked Docomo Galaxy Nexus with generic IMEI to some customers. That's just wrong. But now there's a fix. It's bit involved at the moment but someone should have an app ready pretty soon that automates the entire process with one simple click.

What's.the difference between regular gnex and docomo her?

only difference is Docomo GNex is simcard locked to the Japanese NTT Docomo carrier. It doesn't come unlocked like the regular GNex. Hackers figured out a way to simcard unlock the Docomo GNex to use outside NTT network but the hack wasn't complete. (The unlock app was called FuckDocomo. You can find the apk on XDA and other sites. It used to be on Google Play but I think it got pulled from there.) Performing the unlock hack wiped the original unique shipped IMEI number and replaced it with a generic IMEI #. This allowed you to use the phone on any network but all hacked Docomo GNex shared the same generic IMEI # after the unlock hack. So this meant you couldn't use app and services that require unique IMEI # like Google Wallet. All the unlocked Docomo GNex you see being sold at places like Negri, Amazon, Newegg claiming to be running "yakju" build used the FuckDocomo app to unlock. So all these GNex share the same generic messed up IMEI #.

What this new XDA hacker figured out was how to correctly complete the unlock so that security code matched and restored the correct original IMEI #. In essence it finally makes Docomo GNex just like all other unlocked GSM GNex.

You used to be able to pickup new locked Docomo GNex in Japan for about $275 on Amazon Japan and other retailers. But after the release of FuckDocomo app, prices jumped as US resellers like Negri bought up the cheap stock and unlocked it using the FuckDocomo app and sold it here in the US for ~$460. Flood of cheap imported unlocked Docomo GNex was the reason for the rapid price drop of the GSM GNex the past 2 months IMO. Now prices in Japan are up to around ~$380 or so the arbitrage opportunity isn't really there anymore. But now all these orphaned Docomo GNex originally unlocked with FuckDocomo app can finally have the correct original IMEI again thanks to this XDA hacker who figured out the missing piece of the unlock code couple days ago.

Anyone else use the neighbors address as the home address? I do that with all my GPS units.

Yup.
Either use your neighbor's address three houses down or a police station if there is one near where you live.

After spending the day with the new IMM76I update from yesterday, I noticed the auto brightness lockscreen lag is now gone. However I'm getting worse signal reception. I no longer can get cell signal down in my basement. :(. I forgot to make nandroid backup before applying the update yesterday so I can't easily roll back. I think I prefer the previous 4.0.4 IMM76D.

Wow. I love this phone so much. I don't have any idea why I ever got rid of it. Seriously, I'm never going to another platform so long as Google keeps Android in this direction.

I'm running LiquidSmooth with Franko's latest nightly kernel. This thing is a beast. I just need to get another extended battery for it! :D

Welcome back! You got rid of it because you thought the grass was greener on the other side. ;)

Well, another happy camper, I see.

It's surprising, isn't it? After trying the "other side" for a while and coming back to find that Google has been able to make Android so much better?

This is getting ridiculous now. Only fix I care about is the mic dropping out mid call, which happens to me at least 4-5 times a week. If that is truly fixed in 4.0.4, I think I may stick a rom on tonight.

Nexus S = Android 4.0.4
Nexus S 4G(WiMAX) = Android 4.0.4
Galaxy Nexus GSM = Android 4.0.4
Galaxy Nexus Sprint = Android 4.0.4
Galaxy Nexus Verizon = Android 4.0.2

Verizon, either turn the software updates entirely over to Google or get your crap together.

Which is also the same reason why people lock their cars anytime they come out of it and their house doors before they go to bed.

Don't get it the paranoia with a phone. Dedicated GPS, ok, but phone? My phone gets lost or stolen first they'd need to bypass the lock. Not likely at all. But say they do, by that time I've already remote wiped it. And if they wipe it before I do, then they aren't seeing the address anyway.

Better safe than sorry.

We know Verizon sucks when it comes to that. CDMA is what's hampering the fast updates even more so. Sprint and Google have a special connection so I'm sure that helps them get faster updates than with Verizon since they are CDMA as well. CDMA carriers have to digitally sign updates so it's all up to Verizon and Sprint now, not Google.

Thanks! :D I got rid of it because I thought I was getting bored with it, but honestly, I just realized how much more I used Android and how much more capable it was. Fuck the iPhone regardless of what they do with it IMO. >_< Hehehehe.

It honestly is crazy. I mean I knew what I was getting into, and I thought it was going to be worth it. The ONLY thing and I mean ONLY thing that was worth it is the fact that the iPhone's battery lasts seemingly all day without one singular charge.

I have to get myself the extended battery again. Anyone know where I can pick one up at for that $25? Haha

:)
