I'm getting my third Galaxy Nexus tomorrow. Jumped on the $450 deal at NewEgg today.

Got my first about 3 months ago from Amazon. Kinda overpaid at $650. So a couple weeks later I returned it when I saw a $530 open box deal at another website. But it was defective, so had to return the second one.

Since then I'd just been waiting. Was considering holding out for the HTC One S or Galaxy S 3. But I'm disappointed the One S is only coming in grey on T-Mobile USA and the HSPA+ 42 speeds were just as slow on my Galaxy Nexus was. The Samsung GS3, who knows when will come to T-Mobile USA and then how much longer after that before the off-contract price (I use prepaid) comes down to a reasonable number.

So I figure I should just stop waiting for the next cool phone and get what looks like the best for me now. I loved my first Galaxy Nexus, but the geek side of my was hoping to find something with a faster SoC. But I think I'll just stick with the Galaxy Nexus until the next Nexus arrives.

Good idea sticking with the Nexus. I hate that I'm stuck on Verizon because there are so many good Android phones out there, but well, being on VZW, I'm stuck with 2 high end phones with customizations (Nexus and Rezound) and then 2 more that are locked down (RAZR and RAZR MAXX).

I just can't wait to get to rooting, ROMing, and customizing my device. :D

there was a promo on newegg a week ago that took it down to $430 i believe, but $460 is a decent price.

Read the comments at newegg.

They are selling a fake global nexus, that's a Japanese model.

Look for the international model sold elsewhere.

$460 sounds fair to me. I'd be willing to pay that much for it off contract.

I just received mine. Pretty good deal considering I'm in Pakistan, and I get a one year manufacturer's warranty.

I'm coming from a BB Torch 9800. The last Android phone I used was HTC Hero. I also have a Galaxy Tab (original). I have to say that I miss HTC sense. I'll have to find another dialer with T9 search. I can't believe Google still hasn't included this in the stock dialer. They have also removed vibrate on call connect but I found an app that does just that.

Now to root.

Has anyone here done the inductive charge mod? My only concern is the whole cracking open and removing the phone backing part. That scares me.

So something I've noticed with ICS... I can no longer do a quick "Navigate home" via voice search like I could on my previous Android phones. Now I just get a map search of the word "home" which doesn't help. I thought if you have an address saved to a contact it would be able to recognize it when voice searching?

Hmm yeah that is an issue I didn't notice before. Navigate home definitely worked on my previous Android devices but does not on the Nexus.

They just updated Google Navigation and added that dedicated Go Home button. Maybe that messed it up?

I never noticed that... then again I never launch Navigation itself, I always go through Maps. I'd launch Maps, and then say "Navigate home" and it'd start up navigation. I guess having that dedicated button is better, thanks!

Anyone else use the neighbors address as the home address? I do that with all my GPS units.

Last weekend I updated my phone to ICS (CM9 beta 2). Even though it's an original Galaxy S (Epic 4G), it runs it great. Battery life is maybe a little lower than CM7 Gingerbread, but the new features are totally worth it. It's a very slick OS and I'm glad I did it... really breathed new life into my phone.

I wanted to update my wife's original Evo to it but there aren't any good ICS roms for it yet. CyanogenMod devs are not saying a word about it either. Seems the tables have turned - when we first got our phones, the Evo already had a large dev community and had CM6 and CM7, while the Epic just had tweaked versions of its stock TouchWiz rom and no AOSP. Now the Epic keeps chugging along while Evo development seems to be falling off a bit. I have a feeling it's getting close to being semi-abandoned like the original Droid.

ICS is now rolling out to Internal SGS2s in the US, according to Engadget. Still no word on the 4.0.4 or 4.0.5 update for the Verizon GNex.

Yeah, that part sounds a little scary. Other than that though, seems pretty doable for the most part. I already have a touchstone...
